  1. Since you have the Human legacy unlocked, can you see if you can use the Face Paint / Tattoos / Slave brands on more than just Bounty Hunter / Trooper and Sith Warior / Sith Inquisitor?

I would, but I have to delete a character to try that. I only have 1 human character I play. I might delete my scoundrel and make another trooper. If I do I will check the human options for you.

If you level a human to 50 and complete all (40) character conversations you will get a +500 bonus

+500 presence unbuffed... technically. If that is possible that nuts, because you could still use stims and cantina drinks to raise that well over 600 at level 50. That would be some seriously beastly companions. A lot of work to get to that point though haha.

  2. I got so much presence that my companions are stronger than my character between lvl 1-20

I have the +100 from the human legacy and the +50 from completing the conversations with all my sniper companions. When I level a new character I use presence stims and the cantina drinks.... you can really make your companions pretty beastly.

On my 29 commando my companions have roughly 1-1.5k more HP than I do.

Speaking of +presence from completing companion conversations. Does that mean you can get +50 for each class companions you do that for? Like +200 for all 4 empire classes with maxed companions or is it just the +50 from the first time you do it?

  3. Dont think George has much to say about this game or things might be different, I dont think anyone would want a hello kitty skin.

Its all about options to change the look, things get very boring when its the same day in and day out. I think gamers would make some really cool Star Wars skins.

For the first part. George Lucas himself might not get directly involved with the game much, but you can bet BioWare has Lucas Arts sign off on everything.

The only thing the community will make that is star wars related is pin-ups of princess leia in her slave outfit across their UI and Ewoks... both of which don't really belong in the game because neither are from this time line.

  4. It would be nice if you could make your own custom chat filters, so you can automatically not see any chat message with the word "Jawa" in it, for example.

You think players would actually create their own filters? They can't even use the profanity filter or ignore list correctly according to this thread.

I agree that the feature would be nice for parents. Since we really could and would use the feature if we cared what our kids saw. This way you could add other spellings of the words you find offensive. Maybe it is worth putting in the suggestion box forum.

It still wouldn't prevent the person from spacing between each c h a r a c t e r like that to bypass the filter, but then those people can just be reported for bypassing the filter or ignored.

Just to be clear I am not for cutting down on the "general chat" games like <creature> [Movie Title]. Have at it.

I want BW to clamp down on all the <X-rated Body Part> [character ability] type "chat" and all the fithy "adult" conversation that creeps into the general chat. Before you say anything, no the chat filiter doesn't "filter" most of it because most of people that engage in this "behavior" go out of their way to make the words get by the filter and convey their depraved messages regardless. This is why we need active GM participation.

Or you could use the report feature like it was intended. Which is already in the game by the way. If you do your part then BioWare will do theirs.

  5. Your explanation is good on how the resolve bar SHOULD work; however, it only does this for the empire side. I don't understand how pvp is fair when one side can prevent chain stun and the other side can't. When I am fighting an empire team with my republic toon, I stay chained stunned. When I fight the republic with my empire toon, the resolve bar works as stated in this post.

Bioware, one piece of advice. Fix it or remove it. You take the game down a lot, so after you read this how about disabling the resolve bar for both sides until you can work the bugs out of it. The idea is sound; it's just not fair to us players for only one side to have a working resolve bar. I repeat fix it for both factions or remove it from the game in its entirety.

Crazy that you have a different version of the same game because in my version both faction resolve bars behave the same. Learn to use your CC break at the right time. I have never experienced being stunned/mezzed/knockback/knockdown with a full resolve bar after popping my CC break during immunity.

It's amazing how many people think root = stun. Are you one of those people? Roots and snares are the only things that can effect you with immunity going. If a stun knocks you into immunity you do sit for the duration of the stun like normal unless you use your CC break like you are supposed to if it is off CD.

  6. That's why my son had to wait until he was 17 to play either of the Dragon Age games. My 15 year old is currently ticked off about that ban.

And, that's why my 15 year old is NOT allowed to play this game at the time. Some may argue that the age limit we have imposed as parents is a little harsh, given what they hear all the time, and may see on TV, this would be tame. But that's the decision we've made.

This is exactly what all parents should be doing. Not neccessarily the same age requirements as that is all personal preference, but I mean regulating exposure to games/content that they don't feel is appropriate for their kids.

Ratings are meant as guide lines to help parents judge content at a glance. It's not a hard fast rule that everything PG13 is ok for 13 year old kids because we all know directors will push that envelope to allow things in their movies that skirt just on the boarder of being the next rating... R. If a movie is PG13 then a lot of parents will allow their kids to see it without question. The second there is a R rating then parents start shutting their kids from seeing the movie even though an R rated movie doesn't always mean it's extremely graphic or has too much sexual content.

To go with all that parents need to take responsiblity for what their kids are exposed to and stop blaming companies/TV/video games for all the lack of parenting skills. If you or your kids are playing SWTOR and their might be questionable content in general chat.. then limit the exposure to it. Use filters. Use the ignore list. You can even hide the chat screen all together. It's in your power to police your own experience and it shouldn't be put on BioWare to cover everything single thing that might happen. If you really feel the need you can report players and then a GM will take action. It's unrealistic to demand a GM in every single general chat across every single server 24/7.

  7. I don't care about jawa movie jokes, I care about <body part (usually a bad word)> [link ability] inaine games and other filthy talk in general chat. The game is rated T not M+. Kids play this game. EA/BW should police the game to the rating that they claim.

Or parents can you know... enforce their own views on their own children by limiting their exposure to things that might upset them.... using the filters.... turn on the profanity filter. I mean you get laid in game.. in cutscenes... sure it doesn't show the act of getting laid, but it's implied that it happened. You are ok with your kids getting laid in a video game after killing countless citizens and creatures, but it isn't ok for them to see people talking about it? It's ok for your kids to talk to their companions with the purpose of getting laid.... but they can't see anything about it in chat?

Yes the game is T for Teen... with the disclaimer also printed on the same box that Online Experiences may vary.

Oh and before you judge me. I have a 7 year old son. If I don't want him to see something. He doesn't see it. It's simple.

  8. No. I'm debating the topic.

My point is also quite clear, and one you seem hell bent on ignoring - if it's trolling HERE, it's trolling in-game. That's the bottom line. Bioware polices their forums, they should police the game. I'm not asking for anything "drastic" either, just simple moderation.

Again, my point is that even Trolling is not clearly defined. There are all kinds of topics that don't get closed by BioWare because no one reports them. The ones that get closed fast are usually flagged by users... same system that is used in-game. GM's will take action if people are flagged for abusing the system. I don't think there needs to be a GM baby sitting general chat for the off chance that something is in violation.

Even then it's far easier to police a forum with select few channels as opposed to a server that has a general chat for every planet... every zone with each server being entirely different. Sounds like a lot of man power to monitor just so that people don't get offended.... hence why there are filters and an ignore list built into the game so you can police your own experience.

  9. Negative. Try that on these forums and see how well it goes over. Trolling is trolling and it's obvious - stop pretending it's some freaking 'grey area' when it's not. Start a troll post about Jawa's here and see how long it lasts. Test your theory.

And stop pretending to know what I think - I'm not offended by it, I honestly don't give a **edit** if you wanna spam it all flipping day - I really don't care. My POINT is that it's foolish for Bioware (as a business) to allow several people the ability to overwhelm the default, and most critical channel, with trollish and childish crap under the guise of it being 'fun'. They have the right to, and I would also say, the responsibility to, keep the channel as free from trolls as they can.

So you're basically arguing for the sake of arguing... which is trolling... correct?

To be clear. My point is general chat is general. You can talk about pretty much anything that doesn't violate TOS/EULA. If people are being annoying to you then it may not be annoying to everyone. In which case you need to take responsibility for yourself and use filters that were implemented in the game for a reason. I don't see why BioWare has to do anything drastic to deal with people you find annoying just because you don't want to read what they are talking about... especially if they are not in voilation of the terms.

  10. Guild chat is voluntary, General Chat is a community chat channel, and I would argue it's the most important channel in the game. I don't care what you say in your guild chat.

The restrictions would be the same that are given on the forums. This is even GENERAL DISCUSSION. If it's trolling HERE, it's trolling in-game. If you can't understand that your Jawa joke isn't funny to everyone, I hope they silence you until you learn what General Chat should be used for. Maybe by observing, it will become clearer.

Clearly general chat is supposed to be general...which encompasses all things... even Jawas. I'm not sure if you knew this... but this is a Star Wars game. Jawas are actually in this game. It's game related and Star Wars related to talk about Jawas. Just because you find it offensive doesn't mean it actually is offensive to anyone else. Which is exactly my point on what is this "clearly defined" general chat regulation that you thought up? Because it's obviously not so clearly defined.

Add to this. I understand that politics, religion and other very heated topics with clearly defined positions are off limits. Just like anything that shouldn't be discussed in front of kids... mature content. I just don't see how Jawas or Jawa movie titles alone is offensive. I can see the titles being offensive, but then it's not the Jawas that caused the problem...

  11. It may not qualify as "spam", but it would certainly qualify as trolling, which isn't permitted here on the forums, nor should it be permitted in-game. If your trolling in General Chat becomes a disruption, you should be silenced. Having "fun" doesn't mean you can do whatever you like. I understand it's a fine line, but it's fairly clear when it's crossed.

What are the rules and restrictions for general chat? How do they differ from any other in-game channel? If you are going to strictly regulate chat channels then are guild channels excluded? If so then why? Because if there is supposed to be some standard that is clearly defined then it should be upheld across all channels in the game, correct? Where is this fine line and how is BioWare supposed to realistically enforce this line without the aid of players reporting other players?

Nothing is ever black and white. There are all kinds of grey inbetween and it's the grey part that people never agree on.

  12. I'm enjoying my Sniper much more than my almost fully WH geared DPS Sage. I feel like a glass cannon.

However, seeing a melee class complain about my cover screen, makes me even more happy to be playing my sniper.

Good melee wreck me once they get on me.

Bad melee get wrecked when they get on me.

Cover Screen has nothing to do with it.

Cover screen has everything to do with it since most of your defense abilities are tied to it, but I disagree with the nerf claims.

  13. I have a 29 commando and it's pretty fun. I also have a 41 powertech. If I didn't have the powertech I probably would have rolled a vanguard myself. Trooper animations are better than Bounty Hunter imo. Both ACs are good in their own right. Just depends if you want range or melee because in DPS spec even in heavy armor you are fairly squishy in PvP.
  14. My main's a Sage. I quite fancy a bash at Shadow. They're both Consular's with regards to the class quests and ofc the side quests are the same regardless.

Do I fancy running the same amount of quests on the same planets all over again and spacebar through the same old boring dialogue and cutscenes? No. I just want to get to 50 to start gearing up properly and start pvping.

That 30% would cut my levelling time by nearly 1/3rd. Can't have it though, because I haven't played the stupid amounts of hours necessary to have unlocked Legacy 25 and I also don't have millions of creds floating around to pay for it.

Penalised for having a life that doesn't revolve around the game.

I could go play WoW, run some heroics and buy heirloom gear, join a guild and get the xp perk and run some dailies/quests to buy helm/cloak and lvl 50% faster. No basement dwelling necessary.

Hmm, I have a life... yet I have have the characters in my sig. I also am at legacy level 25. I play barely 2 hours a night on the week days and roughly 6 hours (if i can... wife and kids allowing) a day on the weekend. Also it's not millions of credits for the perks. It's 275k for 1 full set of perks. That is 1 day of dailies to buy all five slots for the perks. How is that hard to do?

People just want things for free without having to do anything to get them. The whole point of the legacy system is to give players something to keep them playing so they unlock more things that can help the quality of life in their game.

  15. Oh yeah. People will play the PTS and have their characters wiped after every PTS and only play every few months for about 3 weeks.

    You are so right.

Uh yea, we did that in closed beta... it was free to play. Every new build was a character wipe. Every new build rolled out every month to 2 months. Plenty of time to lose a level 50 every build... yet there were tons of people doing it every build.

  16. If you are an experienced and above average PvP'er who has never posted a nerf thread. You may stop reading here.

    To the rest of you...

Roll one of each class and then when the nerf hammer hits you will always be prepared. Having a FOTM always in the pocket will greatly help your game and it may put us all one step closer to my ultimate goal of having ONE SINGLE constructive thread on these forums that doesn't get twisted into a nerf thread by the masses.

Or you could educate yourself on your class and the other classes so you actually know what your doing and not just spamming buttons.

I pug every so often and I really see a lot of people who have no clue... Like seriously... no clue. I can go on for days on basics that I see missing from peoples games. There are far too many people not using their classes properly offensively AND defensively. Educate yourself instead of complaining on the forums. There is so much useful information on top of just paying attention to your skill tree.

Learn about your procs, pay attention to EXACTLY what kind of damage your defensive CD's are defending against. ex: If your defensive CD lowers force and tech damage.... don't use it in a 1v1 against a carnage marauder. The people who jump into the fight and pop all their defensive CD's and just spam attacks as soon as they come off CD are most likely the ones calling for nerfs.

Please... as a service to yourself AND the community.... educate yourself. Some classes may perform a little better on average but every class has the potential to excel. I have seen it... before and after every patch. The FOTM will only get you so far but any class played well, will get you much further in this game.

You can always have your cake and eat it too... educate yourself AND roll a FOTM. ;)

This is actually pretty well said. Some classes need a little help, but for the most part the game is pretty good in my opinion. Of course part of the reason I am an altaholic is because I do like to know what each class can do. Patches change balance and what's FOTM now might not be in 1.4 or 1.5. Look at Operatives... they were only good at stunlocking people to death. Now they are the most requested PvP healer you see.

  17. ftfy.

Starting to think you are right.

What exactly do the marauders lack? Im DIEING TO KNOW! Rated sages/sorcs? I havent heard of any high rated dps sorcs...

Here is a fun test for you to try. We all know everyone claims to be the best at everything... well most people do. Cry in general chat like you do on the forums about sage/sorcs not being able to kill marauders. You will undoubtly get a sage/sorc that says they can. Hit their Epeen and get them to prove it in a duel against a good marauder. If they win... then you aren't as good as you thought you were. If they lose well.... you can take that person down a notch... at least you get a personal victory out of it.

But I can assure you that on P5 I see sage/sorcs saying that they can kill marauders in general on the fleet all the time.

  18. The problem is what you are not realising that what happens if the marauder starts to take your serious, You can kite a **** mara and even kill him, since the avg. iq in this game is around 80. But if you meet a decent one, its just no way. Practicly if a marauder pops his sprint against you, its game over, all your kiting cd's are in vain. But please explain it to me, how do you counter 50-80% speed buff as a madness sorc.

About the mara spec numbers. Thats my experience, and i have done a lot of normal wz's and around 30 rwz's.

Carnage surely has the most utility and on paper it makes the spec the best, yet annhililation is simply more popular. A LOT MORE

There is a sorc on the forums that posts he rips them with madness spec all the time. Forgot his name.

Point is.. I play a sniper and I know tons of snipers that say marauders are impossible... no, they are not. I play a sin and people tell me marauders are impossible... no they are not and especially not for a sin. I hear Pyrotech PTs and Sorcs can do it too. So there probably is something there.

I also get told that I must play against bad marauders. I couldn't tell you if that is true or not, but they are fairly predictable. You can tell what spec they are by their stance and then you can plan your fight around that.

  19. Im aware of the fact that healers can dispel the slow, but as a dps there is no way to get talent.

No class has everything. Not even marauders. You want dispell to be useful... spec for it. Otherwise sorry. Your class already has the best CC in the game. You need to kite more. I see sages/sorcs saying they can best Marauders. So they must being doing something right..... or lying... since they are rated sages/sorcs then I doubt they are lying.

  20. Can we let this thread die please?

There is no real discussion here and the same answer is posted again and again.

It's really pointless to post here since it is a issue of a lack of knowledge what pvp means.

True, but you bumped it just to tell people to stop posting in it. Ironic.

  21. I'm leveling a sage amongst my other republic characters. I have my empire characters, but decided a long time ago that I prefer the sage animations to the sorcerer and since my RL friends all quit on Empire I have decided to try out Republic. So far I am having fun and it's making the game fresh... however, since I am not new to the game I know Sage and Sorcs have issues and the Telekinetics tree is largely labelled as a trash spec.

So, i'm curious how true that is because of all the specs the abilities in the Telekinetics tree were the reason that I decided to level a sage to begin with. Can I run end game PvP or PvE in a 31 point Tele spec or is that all pipe dreams at the moment?

  22. To the OP that isn't greifing and you accepted the additional terms when you were warned before making any of your characters on a PvP server that it was player vs player. I seriously hope that BioWare dismisses your complaint because it is against the spirit of PvP.

I am not a ganker, but I do have fun ganking the gankers. If there were no gankers then there would be no world PvP. Without world PvP then it's not a PvP server. So if you don't really want to PvP then don't roll on a PvP server. It's that simple. There is nothing else that can be done. The only solutions you have if you don't want to reroll are to get in a big guild that can send out 50s to help you or make friends with 50s like myself that like to group up and terrorize the terrorits.

That is exactly how the situation is supposed to be answered.
