Do it something like Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed.
- Individual players can use their class ships for combat. After they compete in battles, they earn tokens towards specialized ships, like fighters/bombers/attack ships that are more effective in battle, however they are only good at their specialization.
- Have players gain tokens for smaller ships, like gunships and possibly even frigates. These would require a full group to operate and each individual person to operate a certain position, the size of the ship would require a different size group; Gunship - 4-man group, Frigate - Ops group.
- Finally, have guild commanded capital ships. These ships would be significantly more powerful than the others but also require many more people to operate(say 50-100 or so). [Valor-class Cruiser for Republic, Harrower-Class Dreadnaught for Empire]
These would be major space battles spearheaded by tons of players. They could play major roles in the control of a planet, perhaps giving bonuses to faction-specific players on the ground. I wouldn't og as far as to debuffing the losing faction though. This could probably lead into large ground battles, but that's an idea for another thread. Thoughts?
