  1. Well considering most people are ************ that gear isn't exclusive enough or saying it should have a month long quest chain there are quite a few elitists. I have no problem with the idea that gear should be obtainable in game, I actually agree with that. I just think the cartel market is the lesser of two evils. Generally, insinuating violence isn't a bright idea. I'm not exactly beyond debate here, dude. If you can construct a well-developed argument for your side I'm open to it. If it's the usual ******** founded in elitism and wanting things to be "exclusive" then no, I'm probably not going to agree to that.
  2. It's not about the timeframe, it's about the cultural attitudes of that decade. Would you say the same thing about movies from the 40's "adding the agenda" of racial equality or movies from the 50's "adding the agenda" of gender equality? This is pretty much common knowledge at this point. Things change as time moves on, either get used to it or continue to fight it, but you can't fight the rising tide. For the record, there wasn't many mainstream movies in the 80's that had LGBT characters.
  3. Pretty much, this is my only MMO. It's only the Bioware pedigree that brought me here. That being said the MMO elitism is ********. Good looking items should be accessible to the average player, either through the cash shop or through the game, it shouldn't be locked behind content that only a certain amount of players will do, whether that be space missions, mini-games, Ops, etc. There's a difference between having a few interesting things as rewards for doing those things and locking all the best stuff away in those modes. One is a nice reward, the other is toxic elitism. Cute, you old MMO gamers yelling about the changing markets always amuse me. Welcome, to the world of tomorrow! You know, for some people this game isn't a competition. They're here to enjoy the sights and enjoy working together with friends. Is there really anything inherently wrong with someone jumping to level 50 and breezing through the questing content with friends, or even just jumping to 50 and playing FPs? I mean you could make an issue that by doing that they don't learn the skills of the class well over the slower learning curve, but a sharper learning curve doesn't mean they can't learn how to play. This might shock you, but earning **** in a video game doesn't mean anything.
  4. Ya, because the movies came out in the 80's. Well there's also Juhani and Belaya, and Goran Beviin and Medrit Vasur. Honestly, that's a pretty weak and mean spirited defense. You're in the wrong place, man. At least the people saying it takes too much development time have half a leg to stand on.
  5. Well, it's better than having them be exclusive to Ops. At least with a cash shop everyone has equal access to them without gating them behind a ******** minigame that only a portion of people play.
  6. If they do that then the new people they brought to the market will leave. They'll be left with nothing but traditional MMO players, who they'll have to compete with every other MMO for. Being part of that new market, and this being my first MMO, I know I'll leave without more story. Considering the story is the interesting part to this game.
  7. Because for the majority of us it's not a controversial issue, it's simply more options to choose from. The only way for that to be fair is if your relationships also didn't go past a few minor dialogue options, then that would be what everyone gets.
  8. Everyone knows hardcore SGRers are a minority, but most people dabble in it. Additionally SGR IS a mechanic that draws players and makes RPGs. PVP is not. Actually they never said that. In fact there was a quote saying they knew all along which of the current companions would become SGR capable. "There are romance arcs that we wanted to do that didn't make it in the game, we knew which characters (I'm not gonna tell you)..." - Daniel Erickson
  9. While it may be close enough it's not an official cancelling. So there's always the hope that they'll add it in later, or that any new companions moving forward will be SGR capable.
  10. Actually based on what was written it means it's being delayed. Whether they'll finish it or not is anybody's guess, but they did not say it was cancelled.
  11. The point is getting to the next story mission, and not getting sidetracked by a bunch of useless fights on the way. It's the same point as any game, the story.
  12. Ya, but these people are comparing it against MMO's which get expansions every couple years. They don't realise that instead of expansions singleplayer RPGs get sequels. These continue the story in much the same way an expansion in an MMO does.

    Importance of PVP

I hate PvP and would rather not even have it in the game. I dislike the way that PvE abilities have been designed to be balanced around PvP. Unfortunately it's just another part of MMO's.
  14. Companion conversations, stories, depth, etc. The companion seem to have a lot less to them compared to say Mass Effect. Just by having a couple repeatable dialogue lines it would help with this. Like how when you were done talking to say Liara you could still talk to her and get her to talk about a few things she had already said.
  15. Yes, but it's breadth vs depth. You'd only have one story but that ones story would have a lot more depth to it. I'm only really interested in the Jedi story anyway, since it's the closest to KotOR.
  16. Hah, that's what other sites are for. In fact there are site just for posting adult content like that. Happy New Years, hopefully this year ends up better than the last.
  17. Agreed, this will be my last game with any non-Edmonton "Bioware". Considering David Gaider is manning the helm for Dragon Age 3 I'm going to at least give it a look. I'd probably like this game much more or at least be more forgiving of it if it weren't a BW company.
  18. Oh man, no way. Ashara is the best, and Talos is the second best. If there had been an option to romance Talos as I guy I may have considered it. Andronikos I just found boring and annoying, like Khem. If you're going LS then Ashara isn't quite so bad to you, and she warms up a lot if you're romancing her.
  19. Are you serious? Have you ever played a normal Bioware game? It would still be a fully voiced game, it would simply be one storyline not 8. That one storyline would have much more room to expand based on your choices. There would likely be about 10 or so companions, because they only have the one story to worry about. This was already discussed earlier in the thread. It being an MMO adds that content like FP's, Ops, and PvP, but in exchange the story has to be thinner and more linear. To make up for the cost and to allow it to work in an MMO frame.
  20. That's true, and this issue had been showing up in a quite a few places during the launch, but after Bioware/EA came out and said it was coming in the future it kind of quieted down. Since then there's barely been a peep about it. They "support" it to get people to shut up and then they let it quietly die.
  21. Issues in videogames don't tend to show up on mainstream news sources. Issues like this do tend to show up on the big gaming news sites, like Kotaku, although this issue hasn't shown up recently.
  22. By locked in I meant you're required to keep them in your party camp at least. The other companions you can either choose to recruit at all, send on their way, or kill off, except for those two.
  23. Except, I don't think you can choose to not have Alistair, but apart from him you can have an all female crew. You can't have an all male crew either, since Morrigan is locked in as well, even though she's a horrible human being.
  24. I have no doubt that RPGs will continue to stand strong on the PC and consoles. I don't think tablets are well suited to RPGs. Obsidian is actually currently in the process of making an RPG that harkens back to the Infinity Engine era of PC-RPGs. Once I'm done with this game I probably won't buy anything further from Bioware Austin, they are not RPG developers. I'm still looking forward to Bioware Edmonton's next game.
