  1. Hate is a strong word, I just dislike it enough to unsub. It is a great single player game and the class and world stories are awesome. That said I could only get through 2 class quests because I had to deal with the world quests again. One, maybe two times is all I plan to play any content in most games.
  2. As this is an interesting concept I can't begin to imagine the difficulty in making a raid instance bosses' abilities random. There is no way that is an easy task for the dev team and frankly may not be realistic to ask for. I have to admit though I would love to see a forum filled with the lvl of pissing and moaning that would come from such a scenario though =)
  3. It was an OK read: Nothing new to speak of. They did not really address any of the finer points of the game and thus you can tell the writer did not actually play SWTOR. Over arching themes about cost and lack of innovation are not new to this discussion of "Why SWTOR has not preformed up to expectations." Articles of this nature reaffirm why I read gaming magazines/articles to assess why a game did well or not. Business writers know squat about why many of us have unsubbed.
  4. That is the most delusional analysis I have ever read. That has to be an EA apologist or or someone affiliated with firm that holds a fair amount of EA stock. And I quote "The Old Republic now has the potential to "attract at least 10 million [monthly active subscribers] indefinitely, with upside to perhaps 50 million." I want some of what that guy is smoking.
  5. Let's be clear...you did not play WoW from launch because it was a terrible "crap" game. It was the best thing on the market for years. It is merely old and out-dated at this pt, but give credit where credit is due.
  6. You can't buy gear but you can craft it? That is what I was getting at. It is a way to basically not have to do much to lvl quicker than your average joe who just has time. Great, so ArenaNet has made the endgame gear all similarly statted, but those who can purchase it arrive at the end quicker than those who had to earn it. It is a nice idea to allow the player base to set the purchase price of the gems, at least there is some control left in the players' hands. IMHO it is still a flawed system and proof positive for me that the F2P model has not evolved a great deal.
  7. Yep, PokketProductions, from MMORPG, had a bit on how GW2 will basically have a P2W portion of the game (albeit in a round about fashion). Here is where she describes how you can purchase "gems" with real money which you can use to purchase in-game gold and then you can buy mats for crafting off the AH. Anyway a person would like to spin it this is the sole reason F2Ps will never fully take over the market of AAA MMOs. There are enough of us who can see the writing on the wall before a game ever hits the shelf and I for one refuse to be a part of such a scam.
  8. That and The Secret World requires a studly comp to play on. They limited their player base as a result. AoC did the same thing: mistake.
  9. RIFT is excellent and keeps stealing all the best parts of other games and adapts it to their model. I recommend a trial account if you have not given it a go yet.
  10. I dig D3. Not great, but not a bad dungeon crawl. Pretty fun for a pseudo-mindless hack and slash.
  11. I keep hearing that F2P is the way of the future, but I have yet to see a game launch that is F2P that offers the type of quality game play and options P2Ps offer from the start. GW2 might be the exception, but until I see the game on the market and still run smoothly I will reserve judgement. The P2P model is too large of a carrot for someone not to continue to take stabs at it. P2Ps will never die, but they might start to be limited to just a couple/few a year. Another scenario folks have not readily addressed is perhaps the MMO space will just contract and many players will go back to console gaming as the quality of product continues to decline. As far as RIFT is concerned I have a sneaking suspicion they will continue to keep their model intact, because they are constantly doing what no one else is: adapting to the market at a rapid pace and giving the player base a functional entertaining experience with constant updates as a part of the ongoing sub. I have been seriously considering going back, but that is another matter entirely. Another possibility is that some company decides to jump from the immediate gratification train and create another hardcore MMO that requires time investment to master unlike games of recent years. Anyway you slice it F2Ps have their place and are a rising trend, but will that model become the standard that yield AAA MMOs? I have serious doubts.
  12. LotRO did this well after it was an established game for years. This game has been around for months and is already resorting to desperate acts to stay afloat. Sorry, but the truth needs to be preached from the roof tops here. No game has had this much hype only to fall this flat this quickly. I was so enamored with this game I purchased the CE, much to my chagrin. I can thank EA/BW for one thing though: I will forever be a cautious purchaser of MMOs from here on out. I am going to wait for a game to give free trials before I ever purchase again. Signed, Scarred for my MMO life
  13. This game is dead in the water and the last few subbers are now feeling the crunch. This game might fall off the map quicker than Warhammer did. I did not believe that possible.
  14. I find it comical there are still no speculative/real numbers posted by EA/BW post consolidation. Yes, the server I am playing on is very populated, but is the game as a whole? Some how I doubt it or there would be a press conference stating otherwise.
  15. Anyone else noticing a dip post transfers now that things have settled?
  16. W T F is with all the Togruta love? Jabba's lacky was not that cool or around long enough in the movie to give a rats. Additionally if anyone is attempting to say Palpatine's serf deserves consideration I will rebut with "You fail, the prequels were basically some of the worst cinema ever created." I mean that from the bottom of my heart. "Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter (May the power of Christ impale you)" had more redeemable qualities than those 3 pieces of garbage. Had to speak out, sorry to those who were offended.
  17. Barring the reduction in repop times and aggro radius increases, the suggestions you have would merely make the game grindy and not necessarily harder. Removing the companion component of the game would go against a core story piece BW wishes you to engage in. That said yes I would have like the game to be a bit more difficult, however idk how BW would go about doing that. More mobs could have a CC available and some mobs could do a better job of intelligently stealthing players. I am sure there are many more wonderful ideas out there to be considered.
  18. Not that I care, but this. If the game is going to objectify women in the manner it does there is no reason to leave out men in the process. It seemed odd to me that BW/EA/LA basically discounted the number of females gamers that would be interested in SWTOR. Another blunder that the industry continues to repeat.
  19. I have changed my tune on this issue. I am all for disabling the space-bar function in FPs. I have run some of the FPs a fair amount and it does get difficult to watch over and over again. If someone in my party enjoys the cut-scenes that much I have just gone to tabbing out for the time being and not requesting that we skip through any longer. I suppose BW could add a function to the LFG tool that states you wish to be grouped with folks that want to space-bar or not.
  20. Another wonderful experience today. Yesterday I got into a PUG raid and it was not bad: made it 3 deep into KP SM with zero vent. Not a huge accomplishment I know, but pure PUGGing it I would say not too shabby. No ninjaed loot, no disgruntled players, and patience galore exuded by everyone. I would say the LFG tool has been a resounding success.
  21. Granted, but a small price to pay to finally have a real LFG tool.
  22. He did nothing of the sort. The gent in question merely mentioned that the server transfers did what they were intended to do, but he still calls the game "stupid" (as someone else said snarky). Witty, funny, but he is still being a jacka ss if you summarize his assessment of the game. I have seen 3 of this guy's "reports" now and I am pretty sure that is his niche in the world of MMO journalism. To be a slighting, intelligent, Dbag and call it a day.
  23. I am happy that the option exists to skip it. However, I am not opposed to folks watching it, if I notice that is happening I just tab out for a min or so each time.
  24. I am queing as a healer/dps and I am finding groups at lvl 50, lvl 36, and as a tank/dps at lvl 26 within about 20-30min. Seems pretty effective if you ask me. However, I have tried to get a SM EV with zero success.
