  1. Why? Those other people aren't there with you where their characters could hear, see, and interact with your character, so why would you be role playing anywhere other than the spatial channels (/say and emotes and sometimes shout)? I'm seriously not following this. How or why would an entire planet hear you shrug or sit down or lift a drink or lean against a wall?
  2. /say (not sure how to shout but that too) /em (or /e?) for emotes Is that what you were missing?
  3. As for Republic side chat channels, there are RP RPOOC GRP SWTORRP All mostly unused. Last night quite a few of us agreed among ourselves to just consolidate on RP, being the easiest, most clear, most obvious name. For server forums, I know about: http://www.swtor-rp.com/jungma http://jungma.enjin.com/forum http://fragworld.org/Jung-Ma/ I think I saw a couple of others but I can't find the bookmarks. I'm Valdra, Scoundrel, on Republic side and Acantha, Assassin, on Empire side.
  4. Wow. I have never experienced that. And it's usually openly known that I am female - from talking in voice chat, from general friendly chat in guild and groups, and that sort of thing.
  5. Except that only happens with the clueless ones who seem to have never actually been around a girl. More mature or better socialized males manage to act like people rather than Pavlov's dogs. What they want doesn't matter - it's how they act that matters. And they act in ways that don't make women think they're total idiots. Skeeviness is usually not an effective way of getting a woman. So your statement (which I agree with in principle) that males will act in ways to attract females doesn't account for this behavior. As I said - play with people who have actually been around women, and you don't have the idiotic boy problem.
  6. Nice setup. Could we get a sub-forum for discussion of RP issues? This being an RP server and all. I hope it gets more use than the 3-4 other unofficial forums I have seen set up for Jung Ma.
  7. Not sure why any of that was directed to me. I'm saying that the men that I know don't get all stupid and "ZOMG a girl *drool*" when a woman is around. They have women friends, co-workers, wives (duh), sisters, sisters-in-law, and on and on.
  8. Men that I know, know how to act around women. I think the issue is - why do boys act like boys? And yeah, that's kind of a no-brainer. As I said, play on an RP server or with adults, with people who have actually spoken with real live females, and probably have girlfriends, wives, possibly even daughters. Or even *pause for effect* actually are women themselves. The whole "*gasp* a real girl!" reaction is easy to avoid simply by the company you keep.
  9. Not yet. I found any that are active yet - since there's no good way to publicize them. Of course - that would be completely unnecessary with an official Server Forum. (Still boggled at how Bioware can make such a great game and bungle the MMO/community aspect of it so badly)
  10. I would like to get to know the individuals and guilds in this alliance. I'm open to RP in the world. Even while we're focusing on leveling more than RP it would be good to get acquainted on a forum somewhere. I suggest http://www.swtor-rp.com/jungma as a place where we can start to get acquainted. This one http://jungma.enjin.com/forum looks very promising too. If a majority of you have already settled on some other forum, I'd love to see it. We have guilds on both sides: Patrian Legion on Republic side, Obsidian Legion on Empire side.
  11. In response to the suggestions that people start third-party server forums - that is not a solution. On Jung Ma alone, we have at least four attempts at an independent server forum that I'm aware of. None of them have any activity. We can't even publicize them with no global chat. And I'm sure I'm no exception in not wanting to put too much effort into posting on one if it dies out. Server forums are critical to the development of a healthy server community. Without a healthy server community, where you get to know each other - including rivals and adversaries - people quit as soon as there's nothing to do in game. The forum community is the nucleus of the community. It's true that not everyone reads the forum, but everyone does benefit from a healthy nucleus. With a healthy community there's always something to do - even when there's nothing to do. People stick around - even if they stop playing the game for a few weeks - and they haunt the forum, staying in touch, getting motivated to get back in game. Without it - there's nothing. Without a server forum you can't get to know the different guilds - from their own posts, their events, even calling out and being called by rivals and adversaries. There's no place to discuss server events, or even for guilds to recruit. If guilds can't recruit and grow - or find compatible guilds to merge with - the server and the game will die. If people don't have guilds, global chat, and forum personalities and issues and memes to motivate them, they'll change servers or quit the game when they get bored. And boredom WILL happen at some point. It's inevitable. That's where the community comes in. It's why people keep playing MMOs much longer than they play single-player games. People keep playing the same damn game for years if there's a healthy community to keep them coming back. We need Server forums!
  12. Thank you for creating these. I will check them out. Can you explain who moderates, how, and what sorts of checks will be in place?
  13. We need server forums, the sooner the better! This is how MMO communities are formed. We get to know each other, find out who's who, find out what different guilds are doing. We learn who RP's and as what and can work together. We can announce events large and small. We need this ESPECIALLY in this game with no global chat, and no communicating with the other side.
  14. Been there, done that. I feel for you - truly. Let's just hope that if enough grownups role play, with others, out in the open, that the brats will be drowned out.
  15. That's what makes the rest of us so angry about it - to see people driven away by that crap. I intend to try again here... not sure how long it will last. Good to hear. It's important to understand that it isn't all like that.
  16. Do more research. He isn't talking about getting his light or dark points. He's talking about how in some cases you get different boss fights if you kill the guy or don't, for example.
