  1. You tin foil hat wearing people amuse me. It is a bug not an exploit. BW is aware of it and will fix it when they fix it. Until then, while it is annoying and sucks, its a bug that simply allows more then 8 into a WZ. Been in plenty of warzones with this occuring on both sides, no one intentionally did it, but no one is going to self police themselves either when they just need 1 more win to get there daily done, or whatever.

Yes. It's a bug that can be exploited.

This didn't go from something that happened every rare once in a while... to something that is happening virtually nonstop on my server.

People know how to do it... it guarantees them an easy WZ win. They are not being punished. They keep doing it.

  2. 5 out of 6 warzones. I don't think the Imps on Kinrath Spider even care... cheat til you get your warzone quest done and continue.

we had 8... they had 10 in last one....

we were butchering them around the first doors in Voidstar... and I'm wondering how the @#$@ do they keep coming? I've got 26 kills and there are still 3 mins left in the first wave!

1 guy from our group says 'screw it!' drops... we have 7... warzone ending countdown begins...

queue for warzones as group, allow multiple queues to pop - profit.

  3. Strange...

I run around with my GS in the sub 50 wz's with a grenade spam spec/quickdrawing on wounded and generally win dps/kills - often by double the nearest guy.

As a side note - I use about 3 or 4 keys total in combat, so it's a nice relaxing spec, too.

I can't see why it'd change a lot once I hit 50 and am geared.

  4. Huttball was cute the first 50 times... not so cute after the 500th time.

What can you really say about PvP in TOR? It's terrible. It's utterly uninspired. We can only assume it was a complete afterthought. Ilum looks like some 12 year old got ahold of the terrain creation tools!

There are countless good ideas on PvP just littering the forums of MMOs... and none of those ideas are found anywhere in TOR.

It's frustrating... it feels like there is this community of sucky idea-devoid developers... who have this perceived "MMO PvP experiece" that somehow makes them candidates to be involved with PvP in every new MMO... and they just bounce around from game to game tormenting every single PvP player that would like something new... which I think is just about ALL of us!

  5. Allow me to make this make sense for you...

    # of hardcore players < # of casuals

Hardcore subscription price = Casual subscription price

Money earned from hardcore kids < Money made from casuals

Pandering to hardcore players < Pandering to casuals

This all = Casuals are more important. If facebook was all DOS and code based text docs all the hardcore computer nerds would love it but they other 100,000,000 subscribers would be gone. Understand? This is a business not a game.

    Sure... it's a business not a game.

But if you actually think any business would look at hardcore customers the same as casual customers... you have a lot to learn.

  6. I play a sage at 50.

I have half BM and half Champ gear.

Yes... I'm a bit squishy, particularly to whatever the lightsaber throwing/leaping Sith class is... or when I get smacked by a couple of stealthers at once.

On the other hand - I'm usually tossing AOE's like a mofo and spamming a nonstop stream of turds at people. Basically, I'm rarely not doing damage - even if it's not doing epic crits.

And of course... it's been good to be ranged AOE in Ilum.

So there are benefits and negatives to playing in robes.

  7. So you're saying melee's role in open world pvp is to pick up trash?

What the heck do you want your role to be?

You're talking about MASS open world pvp... yes... it's good to be ranged and it's good to AOE in that situation.

It also sounds like you're talking about jumping in 1 at a time. Probably not the best plan.

Do you want to be invincible? How many AOEs should be able to eat without suffering DPS? 10.... 20?

    Waaaaah!

    * TBH - the issue is no Friendly Fire. If FF was turned on... and AOE was even increased in range - you'd see a different style of combat that would probably make melee feel a little more like frontline soldiers with a purpose.

  8. It may be that, that is exactly the way it is intended.

You're comparing individual items... they probably looked at the total stats of BM vs. Champion gear...

If you want to get creative and start mod-swapping - then the tools are out there to do it and you can enjoy the rewards, since you'll probably be ahead of the curve.

  9. Of all the problems with PvP.... this is what you want to make a post about?

It's awful enough having to do Huttball 10000000000 times in a row trying to get commendations and valor... but by all means, let's take away the extra medal or two some people can get!

Use a medpack or buy a pvp heal and get it yourself.

  10. The thing people are overlooking here is how quickly "box" purchases of this game dried up in January.

Unless they start giving away free trials - what is going to bring more people to the game?

Find me evidence of any game where new features were added... a patch... whatever... and people suddenly started buying it in droves at $60 copy months after it came out.

I'm not an expert in MMO retention rate and churn - but I do know that whatever the % retention after 1 month... there will be continued attrition of those individuals in the 2nd... 3rd... and continuing months.

To even maintain subscriptions they have to be replaced with resubs or newsubs. I don't see any reason for massive resubs... and even in the first month after launch, the newsub rate doesn't look like it could keep up with the drop rate.

  11. It's an atrifact of a late beta change in his play style I believe. He used to be a ranged compaion as I understand it, then they changed him to melee. I'm sure at some point they will change him to be strength as main attribute instead of aim.

People have found that strenth works pretty well for Qyzen too. I tried it, and they were right.

What does any of this have to do with datacrons?

    Nope.. you'd think it was.

He always used melee weapons. He always used Aim and testers always said "this doesn't make sense! (must be a bug they'll fix before launch)"

The late change was Bioware actually gave him a melee weapon WITH aim on it... before that, you were stuck using +str weapons.

  12. The age group playing vs. the maturity level may be one of the reasons this game wasn't a big smash out the door.

I bet the average age is in the mid 30's.... but much of the game - excluding bits here and there - does feel like it is targeted to an early teen age group.

    * and it's true Star Wars movies have always been that way.
