  1. The definition doesnt say they are all in the same place at the same time. You really should try and grow up. The only one who sounds ridiculous is you ranting like a 5 year old about semantics. You cannot compare a game to a car they are not even close to the same thing. You have to compare apples to apples not apples to windshield wipers.

I didn't. I compared a new car that lacked features to an old car, but eventually incorporated. Then I said that while Wow came out 7-8 yrs ago and had flaws they worked them out, and the Tor defense team to say that they need time to get the same features is wrong. TOR should have all the features of modern MMO's because they DO NOT have to re-invent the wheel here. See? That's a comparison. That is what I said. Again the point of this post is why does this game have sharding at all? It doesn't need it, and it is a huge hit to PvP players.

  2. How is saying "I prefer something different than the same old same old MMO" defending the indefensible? Fact is I like the game how it is. I dont mind the sharding in fact I prefer it. I am not mincing words or comparing mmos to windshield wipers like some people. I am staying in the realm of fact. I am pleased with how bioware is handling this launch. If you dont then thats fine thats your opinion. Please do not toss around words like false advertising or claims of fraud because wiki says the definition is this or that.

Because its not an MMO? Seriously, I've posted a link explaining to you what MMO means. Then you said that definition pigeonholes them. Yes it does, because that is what they claim to have made, when in fact it is not. An your an *** for bringing up the comparisons and making them sound ridiculous. They were legitimate comparisons that you chose to ignore.

  3. So Bioware has to accept your narrow view of what a MMO is or they are false advertising? You really need to get over yourself. You are but one of about 1 million people playing this game.

Yes it was false advertising. I will not change my opinion, just as you will not change yours. That million subscriber unit means nothing to me. Bioware just forced everyone to subscribe to continue playing the game, so that number comes from per-purchased games, and that is beside the point. You still are defending the indefensible. Your like Clinton saying "That depends on what the meaning of IS is."

  4. You cant pigeon hole every MMO into this narrow view. The game is different than WoW and they arent going to redo the whole thing. So you have two choices you can get used to it or you can go back to the MMO you like. This game may not be for all people nothing wrong with that.

Bioware pigeonholed themselves into this hole by calling the game a MMORGP. By that definition is should play like the aforementioned link. You pretending this is not the case does not change is to be so. They should have been clear, "This is an Online Co-Op RPG". Maybe one day they will get rid of the Shards/phasing, but until then PvP is non-existent.

  5. You should preface this with "In my opinion". Your opinion is not fact it is just how you see things. You saying MMOs should have 100s of people playing at once is simply your opinion on how things could be. I have seen very few people even in this thread supporting your position. Your frustration is we think things can be done differently here where you think it should be the same as all other MMOs. I am not being elitest I am just saying I signed on for this game I knew how it was. I am not going to rage quit because it isnt all fixed within 3 days of release.

I'm not ragequiting either, as a matter of fact I never once stated I was going to quit. Please tell me what your opinion is of an MMO. Here is what wiki has to say about it:

A massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO and MMOG) is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously. By necessity, they are played on the Internet, and usually feature at least one persistent world.
    1

Bioware announced this game as an MMO, and so far it does not play like one. They should consider re-marketing

  6. I am fairly certain no-one has called you stupid, or resorted to name calling.

I frustrated you simply by asking you simple questions that contradict your efforts.

If that is to much stress, perhaps these forums aren't for you.

TOR Forums aren't for the feint of heart.

the game DOES have hundreds of people playing at one time. Servers have a rough cap of about 5000 right now.

I say you are the minority, because if you READ all those complaint threads it's the same thing every time:

    Original Post: Complaint complaint complaint:

    2 -- 500 pages of responses:

about 6 out of every 10 posts per page is usually AGAINST the OP.

With 3-4 posts per page also complaining.

so that would make you the ESTIMATED minority.

That and POLLS that were taken show heavy favor for the game.

My "stupid" phrase was not to be taken literally. However, this is coming from someone who just writes, "what a drama queen." as a respond. You can see where I'm coming from. Since the SAME people keep posting about how they just LOVE this concept, I'll drop this thread and move on. I'll be back in 30-days to see if all those "cannot wait until these 30-day kiddies leave" are right, or if these complaints are still around.

  7. And downhill he slides. Just point out before you started acting like a child just because there a vocal minority here on the forums doesnt represent the entire game base. TOR maybe can but clearly isnt. I get it you think they should go a different route. You dont run the game tho. The fact is the game doesnt have 100s of people in the same place at the same time. Thats just how it is. I dont see it changing.

I'm flustered by yours and others consistent retorts of idiocy that bring me that that point. Several of my post asked a basic point, and all i got in responds was "LOLZ your stupid." No I don't run the game, but I can ask the question, and I don't need you to sound like a fanboy shutting me up because you think my opinion is dumb. Shards and instances are MMO killers. If you're fine paying $60 plus $15 a month to play a single player experience with attached co-op then go ahead. But that is not what I, nor people who make these threads want. Speaking of which how do you know WE are the minority? I surely don't know that, so you cannot either. Stop being an elitist ***. MMO's should have hundreds of people playing them at one time.

  8. They 'Can' but the formula deliberately chosen by bioware is to not do this.

Sharding isn't done because someone can't do what you ask but because they feel for the way they want to exacute the game this is how they want to do it.

So Yes the CAN but they WON'T.

    Are you satisfied now?

I will when I see the yellow text of a mod explaining this to me, instead of someone uninformed on inside information. Someone asked me earlier when I will be satisfied. When a mod answers. I don't expect it, but that is what I want.

  9. I will not stop posting, for the very same reason you clearly won't.

You want something that if based by these forums -- Majority players don't.

You want a feature on a game that isn't there.

Last but not least, you don't even have your facts straight.

How can you continue on your blind expedition without even knowing where you are going?

If the don't majority want it, then why are there multiple thread on this issue? What are the forums for? I thought to express views and thought, but apparently the only forums that are accepted by you are ones where everyone is sucking biowares ****. Please, inform me, since you say I have my facts wrong, why cannot TOR host hundreds of people on a single server without sharding or phasing? Someone still has yet to answer that question.

  10. This is a game not a car. Sorry but again your comparison has nothing to do with anything remotely close to a video game. We arent talking windshield wipers we are talking code which can and will be optimized as we go along. You comparing it to a car is simply foolish.

Your going to keep avoiding the issue aren't you. I was comparing to like items, something you did not in your post to me "something like MMO to peaches or something." This game just came out and is should have everything or close to everything old MMO's have incorporated. I can see your just going to keep defending this issue regardless of logical thought. Please don't respond to me unless you have an actual responds to why every other MMO can host hundreds of player per server without shards or phasing and this cannot.

  11. I started to respond to this, but I realized it's full of so much fail and blissful ignorance, I am just going to let it lie.

The bottom line is: What are you trying to accomplish? Lets say you WIN this silly argument eh... what then? You win the internet? The game gives up and goes home? The customers all quit? We all resign our subscriptions and call you almighty king of the knowing?

What are you REALLY trying to prove here in the SWTOR FORUMS?

Please stop posting. I don't think you know how. I want bioware to be able to host hundreds of players at the same time without sharding or phasing. Is that clear enough of you? Do you lack reading comprehension to understand this? I hope I've explained myself clearly and slowly this time.

  12. Again its not the same code and not the same servers. Its not the same thing. Thats like saying if you can make a car you can also make a peach. It makes no sense. You think all MMOs run from the same code? Its not the same anything yet you act like they can just take what Blizzard did add some stuff to it and re-release it. You guys are 100% clueless on how software development and deployment work.

Again, I don't care if it is not the same code. That is a developer issue. What want is that code to be able to handle hundreds of people in a single server at the same time without sharding or phasing, or whatever you want to defend. Plus your car example is flawed. Try this:

Company A) 2000: Car is invented but lacks windshield wipers. -> 2004 Manufacture creates windshield wipers.

Company B) 2011: Creates NEW car, but lacks windshield wipers. -> Public ask why? Manufacture: We are new, we haven't had time to develop them yet. Give us time.

Why? the windshield wiper was already invented, so I fully expect them to be here now. Also both cars can drive, and ALL MMO's should be able to host hundreds of players at a time.

  13. Have you seen what happens when you get invited tinto a group when someone is in another 'phase'?

You magically teleport into said phase with the group.

    wheres the problem?

The problem is your too blind by your own loyalty to a game with issues to see the problem. You should re-read the OP's thread to gain a better grasp as the issue at hand.

  14. Your arguement is not valid because they are two different games. Your logic says if an old game can do it then a new game can do it. You ignore the fact when WoW launched most people couldnt login at all. They have had years to upgrade and optimize the code they are using. You cannot expect this game to start off like that game is now. It sure seems pretty popular so I doubt anyone happy with the game like it is will be its "undoing".

If you want a polished game with optimized servers etc try this one again in 5 years or so when they have had the same amount of time to do it.

You make it sound like you understand logic, but you do not. Years to optimize their system, means that bioware had the same years to learn the same. I don't give a crap that WoW launched with x number of problems in 2004. What I care about is they SOLVED them, and bioware should know how to as well. I absolutely expect this game to launch with the same precision. When I played beta Rift into early game and then launch, I saw hundreds of people. A game should release with NEW tech, not old then claim it needs TIME to be as good as modern MMO's.

  15. Or maybe your perception that there is a problem is incorrect. There is not a problem but an hurdle that can and will be over come. Maybe even everything is working at intended?

Frankly your acting like everyone at bioware is out for coffee all the time.

Or maybe only seeing 20-30 people in a game that is suppose to have hundreds in it, is a problem. Oh wait that is what we are talking about. Frankly, I do believe bioware is out to coffee while the thread fills up with this issue. I'll be satisfied when they officially announce something one way or the other.

I'm playing an MMO, so no, 20-30 people is not enough. I could get more people then that playing a round of BF3. I'm playing a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER online Roleplaying Game so that I can see a lot of people and interact freely. I want the world to seem alive and buzzing with activity. Having everywhere but the fleet starbase be a ghost town, and even the starbase feeling dreadfully empty, is in no way fun.

Look at this guy, he thinks he is playing an MMO, I think I'm playing an MMO. So where the hell is everyone? Again, stop shoveling that crude down my throat and telling me to like it. I want a respond from Bioware on this issue, not a sympathizer.

  16. WoW is an old game with old specs its a lot easier to fit a bunch of people there. This is a different game so you cannot really compare it to WoW. If you seriously think that dumping thousands of people onto a single server all together doesnt cause lag then you are simply clueless. I agree with the way Bioware is doing things. If you dont like it you can leave feedback hope they change it or quit. Saying nonsense like you can dump unlimited people on a server and not cause lag is hardly constructive. I hate to say it but seems like you are happier with WoW might be an idea to go back come here in a few years see if its any better.

First off all, this thread is about leaving feedback, but biodrone's like you are telling us to be silent. Next what is your point about WoW being old? If it could handle it 8 yrs ago, then surely this game can do what an older system did then. Your just on the defensive. Also I never said you can dump unlimited people on a server, but when my wife logs into Wow at night and enters Stormwind, I can actually SEE a lot of people running around and guess what, no lag.

This game is new, and it should utilize all the current tech that comes with it. If older systems can handle the request we have, that mean newer ones should too. And please don't taunt me with "go back to Wow." I want this game to succeed, not fail. Those of you trying to silence those that want a better gaming experience, are the ones that are going to be your undoing.

  17. I think you're underestimating the technical hurdles allowing such a thing as 2k people to reside in the same gamespace would cause.

I think you just like to have quib answers in general. Wow servers can do this just fine, and I never experience lag. Maybe it's just your POS machine and you need to upgrade. All those claiming that uncapping and getting rid of the shards would cause network and server issues along with lag are just shoveling that BS down.

  18. Not a single issue in Taris or any other planet. The only time I had issues was during a planned shut down. Perhaps you need a better system, or update your drivers/bios or configure your settings.

If you don't know about Taris, you must be new here.

  19. ...all these whining, moaning, "i want everything handed to me on a plate NOW" people decide this isnt the game for them and leave.

Endless posts whinging about server queues, respec costs, group finders, switching AC blah blah blah are just annoying.

The game was launched today! Give it a chance to settle and breath and for a few patches to come out before you start banging on about what you demand and what you are entitled to...

All the things that people want have already been implemented in other MMOs. Just because this one is new, doesn't mean they cannot start with them. Paying customers a side, we can demand better service. Also the game has been "out" for sometime, that is if you include all the time they had to fix minor bugs during the beta/early release and till now.
