  1. I think a lot of people are going to do this. Decorating your strongholds will help you compete in Conquest, but it's still a massive task for anything except a large guild. Honestly, the ships are so massive that it's hardly necessary to unlock additional rooms anyway.
  2. I hope they do a ninja-change on the crafting, because otherwise nobody is going to bother with it at all. Either way, most people will be getting their ship unlocks via Conquest, and that means people will first be dumping resources into opening and decorating their strongholds to get the Conquest bonus. I don't really see the crafting as at all relevant in its current state.
  3. They didn't even mention his best work: his standup comedy. That man was a freaking genius. If you haven't heard him do improv in Elizabethan English about Three Mile Island, you haven't lived.
  4. Yes, it took me this long, but after fighting altaholism and rejection because I'd never run a SM Op before, I finally did some Ops work on my main, Pekra! There was a team LFG on Fleet that accepted me as a replacement tank even though it was my first time, and so my very first Op fight was the Dread Masters at the end of Dread Palace. I hopped on TS3 with them and their main tank explained the fight to me... everything went like clockwork. Fight had some interesting mechanics in it, and everyone did great. I managed not to screw up except for one mechanic that we hadn't discussed yet. Cleared with minimal trouble! Then we did a Weekly run on TFB, which was great. There were a few touch and go moments where the DPS tunneled a bit or I couldn't find the Jealous Male to tank it (was in a corner), but that one had some good mechanics too. We did the money bosses and everything, was a great time. I won't be able to do Ops very often because of time restrictions (darn Real Life) but I'm really glad they took a chance on me. I had a wonderful time, thank you so much!
  5. How did this turn into a flame war? The OP was armchair economics that had a few flawed assumptions in their analysis of a possible catastrophic deflation event, and we're flinging insults about entitlement? *sigh*
  6. I like your ideas here. A dailies travel terminal would be awesome, armor mannequins are almost a must (would give me a reason to bother buying armor I have no intention of ever wearing and therefore reason to participate in events I'd otherwise simply ignore after doing a minimal amount of participating), and that "placeable" hook sounds great. I have to say, I am pleased with how much effort they're putting into the system. It's not what everyone wanted, but it looks flexible enough and accessible enough to satisfy a lot of people. I'm impressed with how they integrated it in with Conquest to encourage participation. They took me from a "I couldn't care less as long as I get Legacy Storage" to a "I need to do this to support my guild." Sneaky buggers.
  7. Deflation is a good thing. All this will result in is increased buying power per credit... and since all incomes are static (dailies still drop the same amount) the only people this will really affect are GTN junkies. Inflation has gotten a bit out of hand on the GTN, I think this will be a normalizing force. Also, much of the Guild Ship wealth has already left the economy and is sitting in Guild Banks. I don't think we're looking at a crash the way the OP is envisioning it.... and even if we were.... who cares?
  8. I know exactly what the OP is talking about, and he's right, it is way more fun running FPs the way they were designed to be played by not avoiding every single mob group with convoluted paths, obsessing over who has guard on them, etc. Hammer Station is a great example of one that can be really fun - there are a few pulls that are nice to CC a droid or turret for, and the rest you just go to town. As a tank, I really enjoy that... AoE and shoot everything to grab aggro, the Sages CC the annoying mobs, and the DPS vaporizes everything else. Of course, that only works when everyone knows their roles and has decent gear, but still. If it's not fun and doesn't feel like a Star Wars fantasy then you're probably shorting yourself some serious enjoyment.
  9. I would come back, no it wouldn't be worth it, no they shouldn't do it. It wouldn't be worth it because the cost, opportunity cost of a full year's income, and the number of people that WOULDN'T come back would faaaaaar outweight any benefit they calculate they would get out of it.
  10. And yet it proves true so often. If you gamble expecting the RNG to work in your favor or that a 10% chance to drop means 10 tries will get you the item, you've got a lot to learn about probability. The only time gambling isn't stupid is when you can afford to just burn the money you're gambling - or in this case, you don't care if all you get is the most worthless Cartel Items possible. Anything else is setting yourself up for disappointment.
  11. If it was the tank's fault then that's justified. If it's not then it's not worth worrying about. Possibility of grouping with immature players who will blame you for any failing of the group is no reason to avoid tanking... after all, if they kick you from the group when it's not your fault, what's gonna happen? You wait another 4 minutes for a queue pop? Seriously, people raise this boogeyman as a problem, but in all my time tanking content I've never seen before I've never been blamed for wipes that weren't my fault - and there have been a few. The biggest problem is healers that think they're DPS, or have no concept of spikey damage and so let your health drop extremely low.
  12. This is why there are fewer tanks, people think it's harder. It requires more knowledge and awareness, but tanking really isn't that hard. Especially during solo play, you're darn near indestructible, and with a healing companion you can solo things you have no business doing alone. For instance, the Heroic area on Talaos Mesa on Makeb, that hovertank boss was completely soloable in crap gear. I never started with a healer or anything like that, I don't think that's necessary if you've got two braincells to rub together.
  13. Generally speaking, tanks are always rarer because people don't want to take on a role that is so "in the spotlight" and don't want to deal with gear changes when they respec to a different role. My main is a tank and I almost never have to wait very long for anything.
  14. Nothing makes me happier than deflationary forces. Means every credit I earn from dailies is worth just a little bit more.
  15. You use a 1TB SSD as a boot drive? Dear God, what do you use for storage, a small data center?
  16. /facepalm You should probably lay off the deathstix for a while.
  17. You know, if I were a PvPer I'd be little miffed about these rewards myself. They must have missed the memo that PvPers don't often have the same gaming preferences as crafters, housing fanatics, or people that like The Sims. Throw these people a bone, Bioware, they didn't bust their butts for a holo of a sail barge and a poster.
  18. In that case the comment was entirely off topic and irrelevant. We all know that no generalization is 100% accurate, yet generalizations are required to think about or act on almost any idea. Why bother even making it?
  19. You commented with the intention of implying his assertions were invalid because they contained generalizations based on a segment of the population. I disagreed and explained why the generalization had merit regardless of its basis on a segment of the overall population.
  20. Well, then it makes sense why you objected. If we take that as a given, his concerns seem less urgent.
  21. Ummm... you really DO have reading comprehension issues. I'm sorry, I try not to insult people who actually can't help it. Please accept my apologies for my earlier statements in your direction.
  22. To be fair, those aren't really related nor are they mutually exclusive. It just reflects lack of faith in PTS builds and a pessimistic view of the effort to balance the various Conquest activities. Given those premises, his statement makes sense. I don't pay attention to the PTS so I really couldn't say...
  23. This is unfortunately a great example of behavior that commonly makes a bad impression. And please remember, PvPers, it's not that people don't want you to have your fun... they just don't want to play WITH you while you do it.
