  1. You are right, I took another look and the highest hit I have is 4K, 30% in the mid 3Ks the rest are low-3's to high 2s
  2. I'll post my logs when I get home from work.
  3. I dunno, my HiIB hits for 3K + energy shot hits for 1.8K storm hits for 1.5K SS hits for 4.8K. grenade takes the big hit at doing only about 2K. ion pulse still hits for 2K. These are all crit numbers too. I usually don't pay attention to non-crit. Plus the fact that every time you sheild you get a free ammo, its like unlimmited ammo. The big thing is energy shot. Having an offcooldown attack that packs a punch can't be oversold. I can't count the number of times this has helped me finish off one of those pesky e-medpack spamming scoundrels. Another thing that helps the burst is that the damage from storm is so delayed that your GCD has expired by the time the server registers the storm damage. This allows you a 2GCD attack + grenade + energy shot. I usually do something like this: grenade .. wait 1 sec, storm + SS + energy shot dealing about 8K damage instantaneously. It's really fun.
  4. Not really. I play shield spec with DPS gear. It does about 10% less damage but I have more consistant damage and am far less reliant on rng. Energy-shot off global cooldown combined with a harder hitting stock-strike, lined up with storm and grenade allows you to do so much damage at the exact same moment. That combined with the fact that you take about 80% less damage, it means you actually live long enough to get heals. Plus you have storm, which is amazing. I will never go back to assault unless im just screwing around.
  5. The people are staying on the losing team! It's rediculous! Sometimes they even fight now and make it take longer for my premade to get our 140 coms. My average game time has gone from 3 minutes to 5 minutes because people on the losing side are putting in effort. I liked it better when the enemy team just left so we could dominate faster and get better gear and more coms.
  6. Dad, Practice pillar humping, and just know our interrupt is on an 8 sec cooldown. You have 2 heals that require a cast, and can keep 3 dots on yourself, plus free instant heals. Combine this with juke casting and you should always have at least 1 heal up. Use tendon blast and nutshot (or whatever its called) and your flashbang thingy and youll be good to go. If things get hairy, slip away and pop a medpac + recuperate. Keep in mind, geared healing ops should be able to outlive anyone in a 1v1 always.
  7. Thanks dad. If you are a merc, then sorry you will die, 1.2 messed up your resources and I'm sorry for that. Cleansing helps, I won't be able to kill you during reactive shield, but you will eventually die. If you are a sorc, sprint away, cleans and heal. Hump a pillar and you will live forever against a vanguard. If you are an op, cleans+ use dodge after I apply thermal detonator. Keep hots rolling and hump a pillar, you won't die.
  8. Lol, are you not attacking them in the mean time? This sounds like it's coming from the perspective of someone trying to just run away... What class are you playing? Are you using your cooldowns to increase stealth? Are you not sprinting away and humping pillars? Do you not have any damage reduction skills? It's starting to sound like a skill issue? Also, if you think 2 ammo isn't a big deal and basically making the PT waste 2 globals, then I'd suspect you aren't playing competitive pvp. That can fly against a pug, but not in the big leagues.
  9. I actually don't play an Assault vanguard any more. It's fun to play against pugs or noobs, but it is utterly useless against competitive organized team. It takes about 1 match for a premade to learn you are rocking them, and after that, the combos of cleansing and focus marginalize the spec. If you get focused as a pyro/vanguard by an organized team you are dead before you can push your reactive shield expires lol.
  10. Here are ways to beat a PT: 1) Cleanse. Its on a 7 sec cooldown I know, but if you do this even once, it will screw up my ammo management and I wont be able to High Impact bolt until I reapply a dot. 2) Be a shadow and use your yellow damage immunity You should be able to kill me before it expires. 3) Be a stealth class. Any stealth class that gets the jump on my Vanguard will win if they don't screw up. 4) Use Damage reduction talents at the right time. Here is a hint, count to 2 after you have assault plastique (grenade) on you and then use your cooldowns. Every pro vanguard times their damage to hit at the moment the grenade blows up. Shadows/Scoundrels/Sages and Marauders all have the power to go immune for 2 seconds or more, if you do this at the right moment, its a guaranteed win. 5) Stay at > 10 m range. As previously stated vanguards do really really bad damage at range. This is a useful strat if I catch you off-guard or with your stuff on cooldown.
  11. A 45 second cooldown that is impacted by resolve is less effective than an 8 second cd leap that is not affected by resolve.
  12. You are also ignoring the fact that melee have gap closers to be in their 100% range more often. Also they have survivability cooldowns that are worlds beyond what a vanguard has.
  13. I'm not sure what to tell you then. If you are getting owned up by pyro's at 30m range, there are probably some other issues like skill, gear or both. We have 1 hard hitting attack that has a 15 second cooldown. The only way to reduce that is to move to melee range.
  14. Goes with my other arguement: 4m = 100% dps 10m = 80% dps 30m = 20-30% dps Also keep in mind we have the worst gap closers. 1 pull on a 45 second cooldown. All of the other melee specs have at least 2 gap closers, and usually they are on a much shorter cooldown. I'm ignoring ops for this arguement since they aren't competitive in melee range (in my mind). I guess BW hates them. At least they are the most powerful heal spec though.
  15. Honestly I know we are the highest burst, but I honestly feel like I'm paper thin. Out of 4 of the AC's I have played competitively, when I use Assault (Pyro), it's the squishiest. People say well you have heavy armor! Thing is to get the burst, you can't use the tanking stance, which means its about 20% damage reduction against white damage (the rarest in the game). Combined with the fact that I have to run around in melee range, this usually leads to me dying in under 6 seconds from other melee with better damage reduction cooldowns. I can't count the number of times I have been killed in < 4 globals on my WH specced pyro. It can be fun to kill someone in 6 GCDs if you are lucky as a pyro, but it doesn't feel fun to be insta-gibbed either, especially with all the shadow/marauder FOTM rerolls.
  16. A pyro can't possibly have storm. you would have to be 21/3/31
  17. A pyro can't possibly have storm. you would have to be 21/3/31
  18. Lets look at Rail Shot, or as I like to call it, High Impact bolt. The following assumes 100% crit chance So requirements: you must have a dot on your target. Fastest way: 10m, Ion pulse (2k damage + flame dot) = 2 ammo. Worst way possible: 30m Incendiary round (600 damage + flame dot) = 3 ammo Ok so now you can High Impact bolt. ~ 3.8K (on equally geared opponents) ~4.2K on unequally geared opponents next hit: Best: Stock Strike < 10m (about 4K damage) + 65% chance of resetting High Impact bolt (6 second cooldown) 2 ammo Medium: 10m Ion Pulse (2K damage) + 45% chance of resetting High Impact bolt 2ammo. Worst: 30m Hammer shot/Full Auto 700 damage (0 ammo) or ~1K dps for 2 ammo. NO RESET CHANCE POSSIBLE. That is why your dps is abysmal if you are not in 10m range.
  19. If you are at anything other than 10m you are doing it wrong and reduce your DPS by about 70-80%.
  20. My premade games are taking so much longer now that people don't quit when getting facerolled. BW; why have you made it so hard for us premades to win? Please remove the incentive for lesser geared/skilled players to participate. When they just leave the match it makes me get coms so much faster. Thanks.
  21. Anyone else notice they did not commit to ranked WZs for 1.3?
  22. My experience has been the opposite. Previously, people would either 1) Quit or 2) Try to lose faster or worse just stand around Now people decide to hang out since they get credit. While they are hanging out, they tend to fight since they don't have any opportunity cost.
  23. Last thing we need is another place where force speed is the best strategy possible.
  24. I report them and they are back online the next day. It's ridiculous. It needs to be fixed.
  25. So tired of seeing this. Have a whole guild exploiting it on the fatman. it needs to stop. It should have been hotfixed over a month ago when it first showed up.
