  1. My Sabones is level 70, CR 120, but my Bowdaar is stuck at level 56. I boosted his influence to 50, but his actual level is stuck at 56. Does anyone know why?
  2. http://www.torstatus.net/ Good link for server status.
  3. I also would like to see more opportunities to get Elites and Ultimates for soloists, even if it's grueling or repetitive. I can only play mornings so serious group content is almost out of the question, a different way to access top gear would be great.
  4. 1. I like to make alts, and every time I swear to myself that I won't go through getting all the datacrons AGAIN, but I always do. 2. Don't understand the Makeb hate; favorite planet hands down. 3. Was so psyched about 12x xp but feels a bit like a betrayal for some reason so I always turn it off. 4. If I didn't have real-life obligations I would play non-stop. 5. I had a really old character, two actually, and after a hiatus and coming back I used the Appearance Modifier on them (thinking like I'm starting fresh), and now I wish for nostalgia that they look like they used to. Knowing that I have lost their original appearance depresses me...
  5. I am very happy to be able to solo the new content, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I love Rishi and Yavin and the SoR story arc, and I am enjoying it solo. I understand that SWTOR is an MMO, but it's also equally an RPG. The problem I face is that I can only play off-times, so finding a group can be really tough; all the new solo content makes that a non-issue. I don't doubt that there are many people who have to play solo because they can't commit to groups due to RL eventualities (wife, screaming baby, vomiting baby, pooping baby, vomiting wife); making the content soloable gives them an opportunity to participate in what they paid for, even if no group is available.
  6. Defense Guardians should always stack Strength mods, correct? If Mod A is STR 10 END 8, and Mod B is STR 8 END 10, take Mod A?
  7. I am not aware of a basic gear vendor selling items for one commendation. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
  8. 1. Cartel Market section, take the North elevator to it, easy to find on your map. You trade Jawa junk for crafting mats. 3. Affection helps in crafting efficiency, and crafting crit chance too, I believe. 2. Varies widely. CM is an aesthetic attraction. Some pieces are very valuable and fetch a sweet price. Other pieces can be gotten cheaply on the GTN if it happens to be a look you want. Do some research.
  9. Looks like you don't have enough commendations to purchase that level gear. I believe the cheapest item is 80 comms.
  10. I really enjoy these mini stories. I wish they would do them more regularly, maybe not daily like ME2 news briefs, but weekly would be awesome. Immersion is the best part of SWTOR for me, even though I sometimes lose sight of it during the grind.
  11. This link may help you: http://www.torstatus.net/
  12. This discussion seems to have devolved into trite comparisons to hundred dollar giveaways and smiling old ladies. Comparing real life to virtual life is probably a fool's errand; but to carry the analogy out anyway, these are examples of helping, not interfering. The OP feels interfered with, and the real question here seems to be: is it legitimate, in a multi-player role playing game, to object to people interfering in one's activities, even if that interference is based on good intentions? Many people feel that because SWTOR is a multi-player experience, they have license to interfere in other people's gameplay, for no other reason than that it is the nature of a multi-player game, and although a number of players take objection to it, a number of others don't, so where's the harm? Many other people feel that because SWTOR is equally a role-playing game, they should be permitted to create a unique virtual role within the game's universe, and to do so without unsolicited interference from other players. Personally, I would rather be wrong on the side of someone having to endure a respawn than wrong on the side of spoiling someone's game experience.
  13. I think I understand your point, but I'm not sure how tenable it is. Jedi very commonly allow suffering; they have repeatedly done so both in the movies and within the KOTOR universe. Yoda suggested Luke allow his friends to suffer so that he could complete his training; Obi-wan threatened Anakin with ejection from the Jedi order if he deviated from his current mission to help Padme; on a grander scale, one might also include the Jedi Council's reluctance to engage the Mandalorians during the Mandalorian Wars as another great example of Jedi forbearance. So to claim that "A...Jedi Knight will never see a fellow sentient being attacked and just run past or watch" is neither true nor canon. But even if that were not the case, claiming that the only way to satisfy one's RP is to interfere with someone else's RP seems like a bit of an unfair proposition, and although not an RP'er myself, I doubt such a stance would be considered acceptable among the RP community. I believe your last point is a bit off topic, but related, so I'll briefly address it. I don't think ninjaing someone else's loot is ever cool, Sith or no. For me, when someone steals the loot or activates the objective that I'm fighting for (even if they're Sith) it's an automatic Ignore list winner, and frankly, it's a good way to get a bad rep on your server.
  14. As mentioned earlier, SWTOR is not an MMO; it is an MMORPG, and while the multiplayer aspect is valid and important, wherein the myriad players in an area are capable of interfering with other people's gameplay in all sort's of ways, the RPG aspect is equally important, wherein the myriad players in an area can participate in and flesh out a role to play within a massive virtual universe. The OP prefers to do so without interference, and I fail to see why that request should not be honored, nor do I find it to be particularly unusual. The MMO part is not more valid than the RPG part. In fact, considering Bioware's history with single player RPG's, and their stated commitment to a story-driven aesthetic experience, I wouldn't be surprised if someone argued that the RPG part trumps the MMO part. I'm just talking about my perspective on game etiquette, of course. As for submitting a complaint about the type of interference the OP is talking about...well...let me know how that works out for ya'.
  15. 75% of the time I'm all business, just grind it out, gear up and call it day, and if someone hops in and helps out, yay. But the other 25% of the time, I'm just tooling around, maybe trying out a sub-par rotation just for the fun of it or something, lost in my own little Star Wars world. When <NoobKilla99> jumps in and drops an orbital strike, that experience is diminished. But in my opinion, submitting a complaint about it is pointless; that type of interference in someone else's game, in addition to being pretty common, is unavoidable in a game like this.
  16. The OP actually also objected to this occurring while in group, suggesting that they also enjoy the social aspect of an MMORPG. I think they took objection more to unsolicited interference than social interaction. But Special Snowflake is hilarious.
  17. I really have no idea, and it's none of my business. As I said, they may have any number of reasons, from perfectly valid to ridiculous, that they would like to complete content without unsolicited interference. I just feel that they should be allowed to freely do so, without interference from me. Ask for help - I'm right here. Don't ask for help - play your RPG however you want, at whatever pace you want. I personally welcome help almost without exception, but that doesn't alter the reality that some people don't.
  18. Of course, everyone's first instinct (I hope) is to help out a player who appears to be struggling. But in an online universe, many factors are in play, and I won't interfere with someone who may be role playing an experience, for example, that may involve struggle. Or maybe despite the difficulties they are enduring, they nevertheless want the satisfaction of completing a challenge on their own. Or there may be a whole host of reasons, real or absurd, that the player doesn't want to be interfered with. It's an RPG; I let them RP - whether or not my unsolicited assistance would benefit them is immaterial.
  19. Probably a bad idea to kick this beehive, but here goes. I used to jump in unsolicited and help people, and never really thought twice about it, and that seems to be the activity that the OP objects to. I stopped doing it, because on a fundamental level, I don't think I should abruptly jump into someone else's virtual experience without being asked to do so. SWTOR is not an MMOG; it is an MMORPG. While the multiplayer aspect is important and valid, so is the role-playing one, and if I can't mind my business and let other players enact their virtual experiences unbothered, maybe I shouldn't be playing an RPG.
  20. Yeah, two tanks is a good strategy. Of course, part of the nature of my class is mobility; the range restrictions on keeping up Guard can be tricky....
  21. You're a very skilled PvP'er, thanks for sharing that, seriously. For myself, my Balance Sage just hit the 30 bracket. I landed in two arenas, and three opponents (i assume the healer kept some distance, I was too busy being slaughtered to notice) immediately focus fired me both times. I was dead in seconds. I can't hide behind objects forever; I can't slow all of them before my knockback; I can't spam speed; my barrier was shredded. I know the class is a high skill one, but frankly it seemed to be a bit much. In fact, I really think Sages are just targeted now as a rule of thumb because they're squishiness is so easy to exploit. I queued solo; is it possible that as a well-coordinated group some of the disaster could have been mitigated? I'm inclined to think so. But even if that is true, who can honestly conclude under these circumstances that a Balance Sage is fun in an arena?
  22. I know with Planetary Commendations there were issues in beta with people hoarding them, but what about end game commendations? Would it be feasible to implement a system where one could trade, say, 10 Classic Commendations for 1 Basic Commendation? I only ask because I play mostly mornings, and most raiding is done at night, so I have very few opportunities to obtain top end commendations. Although I am aware that the most difficult Operations are far and away more challenging than the dailies and weeklies, I'm willing to endure completing significantly more of them if I knew it could lead to better commendations.
  23. If you are unaware of how mods work with adaptive armor, you probably also don't realize that many pieces of equipment can also be augmented. You can craft or purchase augment kits, which can be installed at special stations on your fleet. Once the augment slot is installed, you can insert any allowable augmentation that suits your class's needs.
