    Skill vs. Gear

I play both. It's just comical that people who willingly play a MMO complain about gear grind and if that gets taken away complain about class balance. If they are so worried about PvP being entirely skill based, with completely balanced classes and gear, why don't they play a FPS? Balance and gear equality is pretty much the definition of competitive FPS games.

    Skill vs. Gear

Skill vs gear? How about auto-aim vs hand/eye coordination? You should have to aim to hit your targets. I feel like skill vs gear is just nitpicking when reflex time and aim aren't involved. PvP would be so sick if your had to aim your cryo grenades and high impact bolts at your targets and a miss would result in a cool down. Sadly, most (all?) mmo communities can't handle skill differentials like those found in CS or Quake. The first MMO that requires FPS skill in addition to knowing how to counter/use abilities will be the perfect competitive gaming platform.
  3. Of course it's cheating. Match fixing just got multiple teams banned from the Olympics last week.
  4. Unfortunately, raiding in GW2 is going to be a joke so it looks like people will have to go back to WoW unless they primarily care about pvp. I really think it is just a problem with MMOs, though, as playing tic-tac-toe against a skilled opponent is more difficult than formulaic operations. NM pilgrim and 16HM EC are simple after the first time you've done them, the other operations can be done nearly naked, and fresh 50s can do NM KP.
  5. RWZs should NOT be open for all group comps. That would be like saying a NFL offense should be viable with 11 quarterbacks.
  6. It would be great if they could add a random element to the Nightmare boss mechanics. Personally, I don't think we should be able to memorize any boss fight, regardless of how "complex" it is. An easy solution would be to have a set of mechanics occur in random order (as opposed to the formulaic approach used now) so people actually had to pay attention and think on their feet. Not only would this help us get rid of the bad players (people who fail to press buttons in the right order) but would also help us weed out the idiots.
  7. It helps if you press the "on" button.
  8. You're correct. That skill PTs can spec into that has railshot proc every 6 seconds 100% of the time is a real killer. It's interesting how it has 100% crit chance as well and always hits for 6k dmg.
  9. Pretty much exactly what we do. If the other team is dumb enough to have two healers within 30m of each other we harpoon one to the other and then have a couple of focus bomb guardians kill them both almost instantly. All the VG needs to do is cryo one healer, harpoon, aoe 2.5 sec stun, and then use pulse cannon if the focus bombs don't kill the healers.
  10. http://www.wowwiki.com/Rogue_PvP_guide "As I keep mentioning, you should focus more on setting up situations for a win condition, rather than smashing your face against the keyboard to get a kill. " If you want to take away the pyro's damage or increase your damage to their level you have two possibilities: give them stealth as well or take away yours. In any case, you can't make a stealth DPS class equivalent to a non-stealth DPS class such that the only difference is stealth. That is the definition of imbalance.
  11. Correct. People also need to learn what the different stuns look like instead of blowing their CC breaks on 2.5 second stuns.
  12. I can't speak for him, but I believe he is asserting that your base healing can be thought of as a vector that gets rescaled upon entering PVP. As such, it isn't 115% of 70%, it's simply 115%. I don't play a healer, but does your base healing actually change upon entering a warzone when compared to standing on the fleet (wearing full PVP gear in both cases)? If so, that's pretty messed up.

    1.3 & Relics

I agree with all points. This is a MMO. Thus, all it entails is targeting a person, "facing" them, and pressing buttons. If you want your game to have a higher skill cap go play a FPS where things like hand-eye coordination matter.
  14. Wait, the real question should be, "Why are you, as a stealth class, trying to 1v1 someone with 100% health?" Do you know how rogue classes work/how to play them? In no way, shape, or form should a class with stealth be able to out burst and survive a dps class without stealth in head-to-head combat from the beginning. You get to choose your battles. Pick people (even vgs/pyros) with 40-70% hp, kill them, and then vanish. This whole thread reeks of operatives wanting pre-1.1 god-mode. If you want to go in guns blazing don't choose an effing rogue class.
