And if this is the case, and it's too annoying for you, this "feature" can be disabled. (Hit ESC, click Preferences/Controls, scroll down to Combat and unckeck Quick Ground Target Activation).Sounds like you're getting a spurious double-click on the ability, which centres the ability on the currently targetted enemy, and selects one if there isn't one already selected. The automatic selection tends, as you've seen, to prioritise nearby enemies over distant ones. -
1. Yes. Every one of your characters will get a box o' stuff that is mostly only useful for folks who aren't subbed, like a crew skill slot unlock, and ... some other stuff I forget, but which like the unlock is useless for subs because they get all three crew skill slots already. But if you unsub, you can use it to get back your 3rd slot, I guess.Hello everyone!I'm new to the game and just subscribed this week (absolutely loving it btw). Just read about referrals so I have 3 questions.
1. Am I still able to click someones friend referral now I'm a sub
2. Are there any legit players here that want me to click their referral... and as I'm new and in need of credit are there any incentives? *** Cheeky, but if you don't ask you don't get ;-)****
3. What is the best way to attract referrals myself as I'd love to generate some more CC.
Thanks in advance for your help.
2. Lots of players want you to click their link. That's why they put them in their sig boxes. Specifically posting to advertise your link, or putting it in the body of your posts, however, is against forum rules. Basically, the idea is if you make useful, helpful posts, other players will click your link as a "thank you".
3. You could give it to your RL friends to help convince them to play and become subscribers, too. Or put it in your sig, and be a helpful forum contributor, and hope folks will "thank you" for your help by using your link. Don't make posts saying "please click my link". Don't put your link in the body of your posts. (See above re: forum rules).
You probably have seen folks in game posting offers to pay people for using their link. This practice is not universally accepted. Many folks think the players doing this are just scammers who want clicks but won't actually pay for them. Some folks swear up and down that they (or the other players posting) are legit and really do pay the people who click their link. And some folks think they're no better than credit sellers and should be reported/banned.

Tried refreshing laptop and it's fully updated. Also tried https://answers.ea.com/t5/Troubleshooting-Guides-Info/GUIDE-Client-Repair-Scan/m-p/6454174#M39 but didn't work. Maybe uninstall and reinstall entirely?
Rather than just uninstall/reinstall, follow the instructions here to switch from the streaming launcher to the non-streaming launcher. Switching requires a complete download of the full game again, so if you're going to do that anyway, you might as well also run it with the more stable launcher.

A while back I was making a new character, and wanted to have a black/black dye available for his outfit. I created the character (wrote down all the customization slider settings so I could get his appearance right as quickly as possible), entered the game, checked his freebie cantina reward boxes*, didn't get a black/clack dye. Deleted the character and remade him right away with the same name. Checked his reward boxes, deleted and remade again.
Did this probably 4 or 5 times, maybe more, before I got a black/black dye. No issues with using the same name over and over, and no waiting other than what was needed to click on all the faction//class/species/gender buttons, set the sliders, type in the name, and click the play button. Though I suppose I could have gotten unlucky with the timing and had someone make a character with "my" name in between me deleting one and rerolling the next.

There are 5 servers, though only 3 designated as "English" language servers, so presumably, that's what you're after.I'm looking for some advice on server choice. It looks like, from the website, there's only 3 now?At the last round of server merges, the folks from the old US "West Coast" servers were put on Satele Shan, and the "East Coast" folks were put on Star Forge. But the servers are physically located in the same place, so there's no performance benefit to picking one over the other. The populations are still a bit skewed one way or the other, in terms of peak play times.
Darth Malgus is the EU English-language server. You should get better pings to this one if you are in Europe.
Language is not exclusive. I've seen Spanish, Portugese, Russian, Polish, and other languages on all the "English" servers.
I'd suggest you just pick whichever English server has "peak" play times that best align with your usual play times. Or whichever one your old characters got moved to, and/or where your friends/guildies from before are playing (if they are).
-
No trouble here. Logged in just now, everything running normally, no issues. Server list shows all servers available. No problems switching between servers, or logging characters in/out on any server.
-
Try switching to the non-streaming launcher.
WARNING: You will have to re-download the entire game if you do this.
But if you switch, you will never see "quick-play mode" again. (And a whole host of other problems that folks frequently see due to having the streaming launcher will never afflict you, either).
Instructions are posted at Answers HQ, in this thread.

I got a reply to my ticket about the issue in less than 24hrs. Without giving away confidential info, this was the response:
Looks like a fix may be coming sooner than we thought
I hate to burst yoru bubble, but just because they are "aware of the issue" does not mean it will be fixed any time soon. There are numerous issues they've been "aware of" for ages, with no fix forthcoming.

Guild registrars are also found in each faction's "capital" (i.e., Coruscant for Republic, and Dromund Kaas for Empire).
It's not unusual for folks to be recruiting for their guilds on those planets, as well as on the starter worlds.

How many dark side points do you have?It says you need 3000 light side points to reach light 1 but i have 3200 light side points and still says im neutral and i got it before i reached 3000 dark side points am i missing something?Your alignment is based on your total alignment "score", not simply how many dark or light points you have. Think of your light side points as "positive" and dark side points as "negative" and your alignment "score" as the combination of your light and dark points.
If you have 3000 light points, and 3000 dark points, yoru "score" would be zero (3000 plus negative 3000 = 0), or neutral alignment. To get to light 1 you need enough additional light points to offset however many dark side points you have.
And the only way to "get rid of" those dark side points and get to light 5 (if you're trying for that) is to get to 100000 light side points, and then any additional light points you earn will reduce your dark side points, until you hit 100000 light and 0 dark. (And if you should earn any dark points after that, your alignment would drop back to light 4, until you once again earned enough light side points to offset those dark side points).

The default keybind for Companion Passive Mode is CTRL+2. CTRL+1 is the default to command the companion to attack. Been that way since launch.Check carefully your keybind for that action. It may be that you're hitting the key by mistake, or that there's a glitch in your keyboard - the default binding is Ctrl+1(1), while the default binding for the default location of the basic attack is 1 without Ctrl - if one your Ctrl keys is flaking out, you may be getting an unintended Ctrl along with your 1.(1) YMMV on non-QWERTY keyboards. Mine is French AZERTY, and that physical key is & (with 1 on shift).
Though your basic premise still applies. If you have a flaky keyboard or (as apparently was the case for the OP) you are inadvertently hitting the CTRL key while pressing 2, you could unintentionally put your companion in passive mode in the middle of combat.

Or (if you have one) hit U and travel to your stronghold?
-
You can also get +25% boost items, not just the 100% ones.* +100% for an active booster, or +0 if there isn't one.
It's +15%* Some amount that I don't know what it is if your selected alignment matches the current winning alignment in the DvL flooflah. -
And before the OP asks, no, there's no way to transfer the characters from the first account to the second account, to allow you to keep playing them for cheap with the key from the second box. You'd have to start all over with new characters, new legacy, etc.Yes, you can. But the second activation would also mean creating a second account. -
The stories are for each "base" class. There are sixteen advanced classes, two for each of the eight base classes.Legendary just means a player has completed all eight class stories (the first 3 'chapters' of the game for each advanced class)The four Republic base classes (and their corresponding advanced classes) are Jedi Knight (Guardian, Sentinel), Jedi Consular (Sage, Shadow), Smuggler (Gunslinger, Scoundrel) and Trooper (Commando, Vanguard). The Empire classes are Bounty Hunter (Mercenary, Powertech), Imperial Agent (Operative, Sniper), Sith Inquisitor (Assassin, Sorcerer), and Sith Warrior (Juggernaut, Marauder).
Advanced classes with the same base class play the exact same story, regardless of which of the two advanced classes you choose. IOW, Jedi Knight is the base class, and its two advanced classes are Guardian and Sentinel. But whether you choose Guardian or Sentinel, you will play the Jedi Knight class story. Likewise, you will play the Jedi Consular story whether you choose the Sage or Shadow advanced class, and so on.

Or you could use your LAN (assuming you have one set up) to copy it from one machine to the other. To move your existing install you'll need a large external storage device. -
Obvious dumb questions, which I'm asking just for confirmation purposes:
* Is it a deco of LSJ or of DSJ? If you have LSJ, a DSJ deco(1) will always appear as a holo, and vice versa.
* Is Jaesa with you? A companion's deco will always appear as a holo if the companion is with you.
(1) Yes, that's right, they are different decos. In my NS stronghold, I went for maximum surreal and put them next to each other.
This is not so different from Treek. There is a "Republic" Treek, and an "Imperial" Treek. The one of the opposite faction from your character will always be a "holo" deco, and the same-faction one will also be the "holo" deco if you have Treek summoned as your companion.
And I have the two Treeks right by each other in my Tatooine SH.

Been there, done that.I've had enough coffee, but not long enough ago. -
More precisely, one command, one action. One button, one key.Example: The default command to have your companion attack is Ctrl+1. Two keys (or one "button" on the companion ability bar), but one "command", and one "action". Doesn't matter if you use the default command combination of two keys, click the slot on the companion action bar, or map the command to a different key combination or a single key, including a button on your mouse, whether it's an "MMO mouse", or otherwise, regardless of brand. As long as you enter a single command, and it triggers a single action, it doesn't matter how you do it.
The problem is when you give one "command", via your keyboard, or mouse (or joystick, gamepad, or whatever) and then multiple "actions" take place (your companion attacks, and your character uses a stim, and then performs one or more abilities) without any further input from you.

Half-right.Also, if their name is in chat, you can right-click on their name and select Invite. Also, if you target them, or they're in your group, you can right-click on their portrait.
(I think. )
No guild invite option for right-clicking the name in chat. But if you can target them, there is a guild invite option when you right-click their portrait.
-
Not that I'm aware of.Was there ever a way for a guild leader to see a guild member's subscription status? I didn't think that was ever a thing. -
Initial cost only "goes bye bye" if you bought the SH with credits. If you bought the SH on X with Cartel Coins, the activation on Y is free. Thanks for the reply. Any duplicate strongholds on X go bye-bye. Any that are not duplicate the initial cost goes bye-bye but the expansions move over to Y. Understood. -
And maybe post in the forum for that server. You might want to include the server you're based on, what faction etc. -
Juat to confirm: you can't buy datacron unlocks from the Cartel Market. You have to go tag the crons yourself.
Yes, that makes it difficult to get them all. And it's impossible if you're trying to get them all on your own, as there are several that require two or more people to get. And some are a pain to get, even with a group helping you. But at least now you only have to get them once, instead of jumping through all the hoops over and over, for every single character you have....
As others suggested, ask for help in Gen chat on whatever planet. Or join a guild and ask the guild for help. Depending on the cron, it might be a matter of someone else being free at that time. For some more complicated ones (like Rishi, or Fleet), you might need to suggest and/or wait for a "scheduled" time when the guild can assemble a group to work on it.
