  1. You will lose out on 5% er difference in armor. In other words the same armor mod in light will be 5% less armor than the one in Medium and the one in Medium will be 5% less than the one in Heavy. Other than that there is no difference. So it wont hurt you while leveling but for end game you would want the best.
  2. I agree there should be a basic instruction to start but I found this FP extremely fun as a healer.

The best way to do this is have all four members jump into a turret and then point INWARD. Shoot the mobs on the opposite side of your party member, the reason being is that they aggro on you and have to travel past your party member to get to you giving you a little bit extra time.

Always shoot the ranged ones first as the melee are slow and you have time to get to them.

The healer (me) starts shooting and then I left click to pop out of a turret to heal when needed and then pop back in to shoot more. The others just have to cover my area a little when I pop out to heal.

Using this method we one shot it and the puzzles that follow are fun!

  3. I enjoyed this FP, I thought the turrets were fun and easy to use (point and they auto-fire). I was healer so I just started in a turret killing with the group and then popped out to heal when needed.

I enjoyed the puzzle aspect of the FP but I admit that I didn't like having to stand there and hold the gates open while others fought but it was interesting.

I think you are correct in that there needs to be better instruction for the turrets. Knowing that they auto-fire rather than left click would save parties from wiping their first attempt as they all pop out of the turret on the first left click and have to wait those 2-4 seconds to get back in.

That said each new fight has it's own mechanics to learn (don't stand in this, interrupt that, etc) so I don't mind a wipe here and there learning a new fight.

  4. Although we are not the best at burst healing I think we can do quite well.

    1. I keep Pugnacity up at all times. (Duh I know  )
    2. I spread a few SRMP around depending on the situation (dont put 2 on anyone besides the tank for the most part)
    3. I alternate between UM and EM and if someone is below 30% just spam EM if you are low on Energy, alternate if you are not.

Use KP if you can hit 3 targets otherwise it is a low return for the investment.

Alternating between UM and EM while keeping SRMP active is something that it took me awhile to get used to but once I did I found my Energy lasted MUCH longer and I needed Cool Head far less frequently.

  5. However the most 'mage like' class would be Sith Sorc/Jedi Sage. Snipers/Gunslingers are both ranged DPS classes but are less 'mage like'. Bountyhunter/Troopers are also ranged DPS in both ACs.

The best thing I can suggest is to take those suggested classes and have her watch the various progression videos. The one she likes the look of will be the most fun to play for her storywise.

  6. I get peoples opinion on an energy filler but I played up to 39 IA and never once used it to heal in ANY PVP, FP, or heroics I was in. I kept pugnacity/Stim boost up and then used the 2min CD 50-66 energy refill when needed and the 20min CD reset. I never had a problem healing without it.

IMHO-Over the course of the 3 seconds channel time you will get back an additional 6 energy if you are specced 4 points into and crit every time. 6 energy return bonus is not worth it over 6 seconds for 4 feat points and a really bad healing number.

  7. When I PUG I start off by typing a simple sentence, "Need for yourself, Greed for companions. Agreed?"

I have never had a group that didn't agree to that when it was stated up front. It is the expectation that causes the problems. Once you state it clearly then it seems nobody has a problem.

That said, if someone does break that rule AFTER it was stated up front then I either kick them from the group if I am leader or drop group if the leader does not kick them.

As for people that can use other armors I think it is fairly obvious. In my OPINION need rolls go by this:

    Tr/Bh get the AIM

    Sm/IA get the Cunning

    Jk/Sw get the Strength

    Jc/Si get the Willpower

Anything else is just greedy people. Companions are NOT your character, they are your pet.

  8. MVP votes get you more commendations for each vote.

The valor rank is required to equip certain PVP items, so there is a level requirement as well as a Valor Rank requirement.

  9. This is the setup I am going with: www.torhead.com (31/3/7)

After playing two builds I never found that Diagnostic Scan was that useful nor was adding the ability to (at max with lucky crits) add 6 energy to my pool. I can save 4 points for other things and avoid an ability I should only be using if I have messed up my resource management in the first place.

Scar Tissue is not just for when the tank messes up, it's for ALL damage so for AoE's and environmental effects it will help me stay alive in order to heal others, same goes for Med Screen. The less I have to worry about my own health the more I can heal others.

Sedatives may not be able to work on bosses but they work fine on elites and some champions. Reducing the damage for 10 seconds by 50% made a big difference in what I could solo and with a group that lets you CC first it will be proactive healing.

No Holds barred is a nice 6% Crit bonus to just about everything we do and all our heals.

I don't really like the last two points in Flash Powder but there really isn't a better place to put them, besides which even if you toss it out in a group and people immediately break it by attacking the mobs there is still 20% less accuracy meaning less damage you need to heal.

  10. Smuggler Scoundrels (and IA-OPs) fully specced into healing do very well. In fact we can solo some heroic/FP content solo.

Don't forget that you are never solo but have your companion, so they are tanking/dpsing while you heal and dps alongside them.

I had no problem main healing the on level heroics and FP I did from 10-37 but I must say that you don't get all your tools until about 30ish. So 10-20 was an uphill climb and 20-30 was great just adding new tricks to my toys.

Each of the healers have their own resource management thus their own styles so try not to compare them directly. For one, smugglers at later levels almost never run out of energy.
