  1. No search, no server forums. Fail for BW.
  2. Yes, god forbid we expect products to either stay efficient or change for the better. SWTOR is ahead of the curve in many areas such as voiced story lines and quests, but like 10 years behind in glaring areas. I mean, even EQ1 that came out in 1998 had an efficient /who command. horrible /who, no server forums and many other small issues that just leave you wondering if the game will carry people long enough to correct these deficiencies.
  3. Official and unofficial forums can coexist just fine. I have seen it happen with my own eyes, sure a couple people here and there will gravitate mainly to one forum or the other, but most will keep their options open and visit both; I believe you are seeing this now, many people that are starting up unofficial forums are spending time in both forums because there is good interaction to be had in both.
  4. I think I remember something like this from back in EQ1 lol... I wish ya'll good luck though, especially appealing to the youth.
  5. Nice "rigging" on the right foot lol. Nice piece regardless.
  6. Me @ Niagara in 2005 Daughter and I @ Cannon Beach, Or. last July Daughter and I the day after Thanksgiving with our x-mas tree
  7. Of the 12 years I have played MMOs and utilized a third party forum, I have yet to have my accounts hacked or PW stolen. Sounds like fear mongering to me. Of course everyone should keep unique PW for each login and use of security keys helps further. BW should absolutely have server forums set up here, but to try and scare people from third party forums is a bit irresponsible. Just sayin'.
  8. You are right that it is an experience issue, and I believe both official and unofficial forums should exist. If done correctly, there is no need for unofficial forums to exist; but in my experience more often than not, game companies often make blunders which push more experienced players away from the official forums.
  9. You have to start somewhere. As the community grows, you gain more and more recognition and eventually traffic gets very busy. We can sit here and complain to BW for something they do not seem to be willing to provide to us, or we can create our own communities and make our gaming experience what it should be.
  10. They are easier to find, but I find that players will gravitate to other forum communities where they can learn things and communicate in ways that may not be available in an official forum setting. There will still be people that are fine with official forums, but the fun is really in unofficial forums.
  11. I understand. I do expect new MMOs to have a fairly standard forum set which is lacking here, but I have always gravitated towards unofficial forums anyway as they tend to have more information pertinent to my gaming experience and not the cookie cutter stuff. Typically official forums are where the Devs do some interaction and announcements and unofficial forums is more where strategies, guild progression and tighter knit communities are made.
  12. And you are stating that because MMOs and MMO communities have evolved, that what happened with EQ1 with little to no official forums would not happen in this case?
  13. Explain EQ2? They have an active official forum that is quite adequate, yet many players gravitate towards EQ2Flames. I agree that there should be official server forums, but to state that the community would never work is not entirely accurate.
  14. This. And I liked the good side when I was playing w/ my Luke Skywalker action figure and his fighter. I have played good side on nearly every MMO and I find that on the MMOs I play dark/evil, I just have more fun.
  15. I'm not sure "never" is accurate. I've played 2 successful MMOs that had unofficial forums that were as or more popular than the official forums. In EQ1 did not have official forums and there was plenty of forum communities both for each server, guild as well as guide websites like lores or wikis. EQ2 had EQ2Flames which was and still is very popular for EQ2 players.
  16. Don't get me wrong, I know back when I played EQ1, we had private server forums that were very successful and hooked me hard to that game for many years. The value a community and server forums bring to keeping people playing is just too large for bioware to ignore, the cost of lost subscriptions will extremely outweigh the cost of a couple moderators.
  17. Bioware, you are ruining my gaming experience by not having server specific forums. My friends and I are trying to LFGuild and our efforts are hampered by your archaic forums. This forum is not a community but The Tower of Babel. It is highly time consuming to weed through the screwy guild sub-sections to find any guilds on my server. It is highly disappointing that what should be a top quality MMO is reduced in quality due to a simple forum blunder. If you can not afford the mods, I would suggest firing the person that suggested the current forum layout and get volunteer mods for each server. It is very ironic that a game that is revolutionizing the MMO genre is so far behind and lacking in their community building. I hope you guys learn that the game does not make the community, the community makes the game. This issue alone is frustrating and telling enough that it is making me consider whether I want to play long-term or not.
