  1. If anyone is interested in seeing a few things about the SWGEmu, I have a short Let's Play series on my YouTube channel that is more geared towards educating people on how to play Pre-CU SWG. It will also show you just how lively the community can be. Feel free to check it out here:
  2. I have to ask, then: where are you running into this issue? Obviously it must be in an area of the game that I do not frequent. Edit: The worst I can think of is Chasing the Shadow in the Black Hole. The humanoids have a knockback they use on initial contact, and the large droids have a grapple that pull you in. While it can be rather annoying, it can easily be avoided by properly CC'ing mobs before initiating the fight; but even without CC, the knocking around only lasts two or three seconds and is over. Never have I been stunned by a mob for longer than 3 seconds... and if you're being annoyed by a 3-second pause in combat... I got nothing for you. All I can say is that it's part of the game. Everyone will have issues with some aspect of everything; can't please a whole crowd.
  3. Pssh... I think you're all spoiled by other MMOs lol... I've been a Jedi Guardian tank since beta and I don't have any issues with maintaining threat on multiple mobs in groups; nor do knockbacks/stuns bother me when I know when I should/shouldn't use the stun-break. If you Force Leap to a target then get pulled away by another mob, not only do you have Saber Throw to use and generate some more focus, but you also have a free Blade Storm to use while you move in. I really really hate being "that guy" on the forums... but there have been so many "Guardian Tanks Suck!" threads that it's getting old. Just learn how to play your class. Work your taunts into your rotation. Don't stay focused on the same target... TAB around and hit multiple enemies a few times to keep them pissed at you. If you're only using taunts when other group members are getting hit, you're doing it wrong. If you're standing there attacking the same target like a DPS, you're doing it wrong. If you're not taking advantage of all of the skills you have at your disposal... guess what? You're doing it wrong.
  4. Glad you're enjoying the class, Sevenfold! Yes, you can easily mark targets by right-clicking on their portrait and going to Target Marker. You can also bind target markers to keys for quick access to a specific marker. I'm inclined to agree with Grallmate above, in that it may be wise to level with the 5 points in Vig until you reach (now in 2.0) Lv45. Once you're 45, respec into full Defense to acquire Guardian Slash. This will prevent you from having to go all the way to 50 to get the top skill in your primary tree. If you haven't yet learned from someone else, or haven't discovered it on your own, you can respec your talents either under the Senate Tower on Coruscant (by the GTN/Cargo Holds) or in the Combat Training area on the Republic Fleet (Southwest Quad, southern-most room). I've now made it from Lv50 to Lv54 on my Guardian using a 36/5+x/0 build and I'm still enjoying it! Looking forward to your guide as well.
  5. Sorry for my few days late reply... After playing a whole level with the new 2.0 full Defense tree that I mentioned earlier, I can say the following: Noticible decrease in overall DPS due to the changes made to Sundering Strike and the removal of Pummel Strike... but huge increase in tankiness and AoE threat management as expected. It took some getting used to... and I'm using the default attack a lot more now than I did before to help maintain Focus, but I really can't say it's "worse" than it used to be... just different. To answer some questions... I have to reiterate what I said earlier, and agree with Slivovidze, that a Defense/Vigilence hybrid build is completely out of the question with the 2.0 changes. It's unfortunate, but like Slivovidze said, the way they make certain perks only proc or occur while using a particular saber form make it not worth going hybrid. That being said, Guardian Strike has been buffed a bit in 2.0 and does more damage than it used to... so there's a plus. As far as putting points into Vig at a low level to "increase your DPS while leveling"... I probably wouldn't. If you use your companions wisely, you should do just fine sinking all of your points into Defense while you level and still be able to take down just about any foe without the need of another player (minus Heroic 4's and FPs). If you still feel the need to up your DPS output, I would suggest putting no more than 7 (to get the extra Strength in the 2nd tier). After that, get up to Guardian Slash in the Defense tree and put your last 3 points into Accuracy in Vig. Some may debate this, but especially now that Elite and Champion mobs have 5% and 10% Defense chance respectively, Accuracy IS needed for tanks to a degree. For your question on Master Strike... this one took me a bit to pick up on as well when I first started playing. Master Strike deals 3 "blows" during its channel time. The first 2 happen pretty quickly after you activate the skill and together do about 1/2 the total damage of the attack. The 3rd blow happens all the way at the end of the channel and deals the remaining 1/2 total damage of the attack. The answer to your question is yes, if your target moves out of range of you while you're channeling Master Strike, they can indeed avoid that final blow. However, unless you see your channel bar go red and get some error that your target is out of range, the attack still lands. I say this because occasionally the target will start to run (especially in PvP) and appear to be out of range, but the attack still lands. I'm not sure if this is client-server-client lag or if the range of the final blow is farther than the range needed to activate Master Strike... but either way, this has happened to me several times. Hope this helps... any more questions feel free to ask. TL;DR version: 1) 2.0 Defense Guardian rules 2) Don't go hybrid build 3) Shouldn't have to put more than a couple points into Vig before maxing Defense 4) Master Strike deals most of its damage at the very end of its channel and CAN be avoided by moving out of range
  6. Here's what I'm going with on my main for now: http://pts.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/guardian/225/?build=003202120212120220122102023000100302302000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000&ver=20 Only thing you may want to change is the 2 points in Expeditious Protector down to Master Focus... I tend to PvP from time to time and this build seems to do great in both realms. Edit: Link fixed
  7. I've played a Guardian since beta and rocked a hybrid skill tree build while still focusing End > Str. I loved every minute of it and never had any problems tanking HM FPs or owning face in PvP... especially paired with a healer I could Guard. That being said, I'm sure stacking Str > End would give you more of an edge in PvP with slightly less survivability in PvE... but if you're playing your class properly, you'll be fine. Also, the new 2.0 skill trees sorta ruined my hybrid build and I am giving full Defense a try. Seems pretty good so far. A lot of players complain about the Guardian's ability to tank multiple enemies... but I've never had this problem. My tips: work your taunts into your rotation and bounce between targets to keep threat on multiple enemies. Don't get tunnel vision.
  8. So, I know in the article it says that Guild Banks will not be automatically granted after transferring servers, and that it must be done through Customer Service, but does that mean I still need to withdraw all of the items inside the bank, or are they being transferred via customer service too?
  9. I'm on Mind Trick and we were a pre-launch server as well. Boy I remember the good 'ole days of 2.5 hour waiting queues to even connect...
  10. It is a fact, you can only use 1 medkit per battle now. Also, yes, reusables are getting phased out Soon
  11. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the [Custom-Built Lightsaber] and [Custom-Built Double-Bladed Lightsaber] are both, Lv20 required, orange sabers that are craftable, and augmentable, sabers whose schematics are obtained through low-level Treasure Hunting missions and require nothing more than common Grade 2 crafting materials to make.
  12. You receive the schematics for the Custom-Built sabers via Treasure Hunting. Keep sending companions out and you'll eventually get one. Meh... perhaps you're right... but it's still good info for those who aren't on the PTS to know.
  13. They ARE orange items, so I assume you can crit on them to get an augment.
  14. The two that I have, Custom-Built Lightsaber and Custom-Built Double-Bladed Lightsaber are Lv20 and do not require anything special. Grade 2 Artifact Fragments, Grade 2 Power Crystals, whatever the Grade 1 white-item crafting material is, and something else... maybe Grade 2 Gemstones... I don't remember. But nothing special... I was able to make mine and I'm on Taris having never done any flashpoints on the PTS.
  15. Okay, just an update: While the crystal slot does have a lock on it, you can still place a crystal of your choice in the saber. Sorry for the scare.
  16. Nonconstructive post is nonconstructive.
  17. So I finally made a Custom-Built Lightsaber (the new orange-schematic in 1.2) and was disappointed to see that the Crystal slot is "locked." Not only that, but the yellow crystal in it is absolutely stat-less. Not even a +1 Endurance like your starter saber. Is this a bug or am I missing something here?
  18. Looping music would be nice... I totally suggested that during closed beta. Glad I'm not alone. They have a 6-7 minute video in the Media section about how the music in the game drives the experience... and then you start playing and realize that the music plays for 2 minutes and then stops until you enter a new area/conversation.
  19. I hate to break it to most of you... BUT... SWTOR wasn't designed for PvP. It has always been plugged as the first "story-driven MMO." I don't remember any devs putting the PvP on the front line of awesomeness; nor should they. They have crafted a "KOTOR 3-10" if you will (each class' story). Like it or hate it, THAT is what SWTOR is and has always been intended to be. The PvP was thrown in because, face it, a lot of you wouldn't have even bought the game if it didn't have PvP. So whether you continue to sub or not, they've made their $60-$150 from you and millions of others just like you. As someone who enjoys PvP, but understands what this game is supposed to be, I vote a very strong "Yes." Keep the content coming, but amazing job delivering what was promised.
  20. Okay, so... When you start out, you can send a max of 2 companions on Crew Skill missions (even if you only have 1). I heard that you could send out a max of 3 when you hit Lv25. When I hit Lv25, I was disappointed that I could not. After visiting my trainer and learning my Lv25 skills, suddenly, I could send out 3 companions. The same person who told me that 3 was the max at 25 also told me that 4 was the max at 35, and 5 was the max at 45. Now I am Lv35, I've learned my skills, and still can only send 3 companions out. Does anyone know what exactly the deal is? Thanks.
  21. There's no reason to re-roll if BW can restore though... and that was the entire point of this thread. It has already been confirmed that BW CAN restore deleted characters, so this thread is as good as closed. kthxbai
  22. Thank you very much. The interwebs need more peoples like yousa.
  23. ...and you're just jealous you didn't think to do it for your friends, or had no friends to do it for you. Less trololololololololol pls
  24. Char that was deleted wasn't on my account
  25. I'm not asking BW to restore through the forums. I'm asking if anyone has heard of them doing it before. I knew the trolls would start to post replies, but it doesn't matter. And about phone service, she's been on hold for 30 minutes waiting to speak to a billing agent because there is no other way to speak to a live person apparently.
