I heard during the latest trailer that we are the ones that decide what happens with SWTOR, and how they are shaping the game around what people want.
At first, this might sound like something good. Yay, we get all of those options we have all wanted. How exciting! I personally would like a LFD tool, some more pvp zones, a longer leveling process, etc.
But if we take a closer look, there is a really big flaw with this idea. I don't know anything about making games. I don't know what content makes a game good. Bioware is a gaming company, and they really should be the ones leading this.
Yea, some feedback is necessary from the community, but in reality, isn't there some type of flaw in giving the forum goers the reins?
The best games I've ever played were by developers that wanted to make a game they wanted to play. They had a stylistic sensibility and were truly dedicated to making an exciting and thrilling game. A game that they felt was needed within the sea of ****-games.
SWTOR, on the other hand, seems to buy into the ideas that 1) people know what they want, and 2) the majority is actually correct.
What happened to the days when games were made just for the pure enjoyment of the creators themselves? If SWTOR is made by people who only listen, and don't actively make real decisions on THEIR game, we are going to end up with something that, in the end, no one wants.
Sorry for the long *** text... I was thinking it through while typing it...
TLDR: SWTOR listens to people, and people are stupid. We shouldn't be holding the reins to the way this game is made. Bioware are supposed to be "experts."
