  1. Ive played WoW on and off since release (account created Nov 23 2004) and was a 3 time glad, S6/7/8. I've played almost every MMO to come out since then as well, and aside from Warhammer Online, this game has the best PvP I've played (i wish i played DAoC during its prime).

WoW's overall client might be smoother, that doesnt mean the PvP is better. Also, the skillcap is much higher in this game then WoW's and yes is because of the lack of macros and addons and auto attack.

I just don't see this being true, but I'm not arguing. I'd like to hear your thought process for why you believe this though. (Other than no macros)

  2. ^^ Spot on. You like large group PvP, go do battlegrounds or rated battlegrounds. You like Small group PvP, go do arenas. Both options have a well done rating system that gives difficult to earn titles and gear.

You like world PvP? Well, neither of these games really has anything to offer.

WoW is still a decent game, it just happens to be stale for most of the people playing SWTOR (hence why we're here). 6 years of the same game gets old no matter how you dress it up.

  3. Yes, but I can make that fast food last as long as a four-course meal, or devour that four-course meal in the fastest humanly possible time.

The point is, in an MMO, no matter how much you give people, there will ALWAYS be a small part of the player-base that rushes through everything and then pertains to whine when a good 70% (guessing here, but I know its in the majority) aren't even max level yet.

    Also, to the OP:

What do you expect them to do? There's only so much they can do in so much time.

Take PvE for example. What happens when someone has the BiS PvE gear, and their entire team has BiS? Oh, right, they have to wait for the next PvE update.

Just like PvPers have to wait for the next PvP update to get our new goodies.

    Welcome to MMOs.

According to your sig you have 3 lvl 50s already? ***?

  4. The problem really comes down to how fast you consumed the content, not the content itself. I'm willing to bet your time played since release is rather large -- and there isn't much BW can do about players like yourself.

    For the last time,

This was a hypothetical, I'm full champ gear at valor rank 54.

I was trying to point out that there is no real competition in this game and PvP is ALREADY dull.

There are currently a TON of people that are level 50 right now. In no way did I "rush to 50". I happen to have a full time job, I exercise daily, a social life, and yes other hobbies (no this life style is not impressive, I just state it to point out that my life is pretty ordinary and has balance). I actually took about 3 weeks to hit 50 and I did a lot of PvP along the way, while enjoying the great story and questing. Essentially I was trying to make the most of the leveling experience.

But here's the real problem with the end game PvP content. There are no meaningful titles, no rankings, no arena, a poor system of gear distribution, and they already had a huge blunder with their joke of a world PvP zone. However, if you enjoy a worthless, mindless grind then you can play 3 generic Warzones that you've been playing since lvl 10.

  5. Does the other side instantly quit when they see you in a WZ because they KNOW that it is an instant loss? If the answer is 'NO', then you have work to do.

It's sure rewarding and mentally stimulating when I get to mindlessly farm newbs in pugs - because yes, 90% of the queues are against PUGs when you play Republic.

My point still stands though. For a game that was claiming to be "very polished", "innovative", and had a BETA that lasted for over a year I just expected more. So sue me if I'm not on the fanboy bandwagon with all the nerds that played Star Wars galaxies for WAY too long.

  6. To make the posters of this thread aware:

This was a hypothetical, I'm full champ gear at valor rank 54.

I was trying to point out that there is no real competition in this game and PvP is ALREADY dull.

  7. Think back to 2005. All WoW had was a battleground grind, but at least that felt challenging and dare I say "epic" at times.

Bioware didn't even surpass VANILLA WOW FROM 2005 in terms of PvP content. Isn't that kind of pathetic?

    Just sayin

  8. This was a hypothetical, I'm full champ gear at valor rank 54.

I was trying to point out that there is no real competition in this game and PvP is ALREADY dull.

  9. You just grinded the same 3 WZs over and over again and you're now valor rank 70. You have full Battlemaster gear and your "awesome" Battlemaster title.

....so.... is there anything else to do in this game? I guess I'll go do more WZs or attempt to gank in Ilum.

    In other words:

The PvP WZ grind is mindless and not challenging. There are no arenas. Ilum is a sad joke.

Why should we even invest our time in PvP content? Battlemaster is a pointless title that requires you queueing a bunch of times - you don't even have to win or be a decent player.

  10. The people who say the above comments are people who are average at arenas at best but seem to think they are better than they are and come to a new game talking like they get a permanent glad title in wow ever season.

There are many people who dont want arena in a new game who dominated in their day. And either quit because they got sick of it or just want something new.

I have played way too many arena games and seen way to many awful pvpers get carried, ride a fotm or get insanely lucky in their queue timing rating farming to think arena is any type of end all, must have, gold standard of skill activity.

The main thing that makes it so everyone calls for arena in every game is for the most part if you are good at the game you will rank high in arenas. The big problem for me at least is bad players will also sometimes rank high in arenas and thus makes the entire exercise not very credible.

If there is arena heck yeah i will play but do i want arena? not really as i said in other arena threads it would be cool to get something different than a super scripted 3on3 team duel. Plus my personal opinion is once you have arena all other pvp is on the backburner since we pvp for ego and fun and arena always trumps all other pvp in every game it has been in and i think tor would be a better game is we dont go right into that off the bat.

We just completely disagree, perhaps I'll leave it at that and move on. Good luck to you sir.

  11. Let me sum this post up for you, you are an elitist douche who thinks his opinions on everything is gospel. I am not against arena, I am against arena causing classes to be made similar just to be viable in arena. Which happened in wow quite often, also many many people just want arena to get ez gear to sthey can go stomp people who have less gear. These people do not want fair fights, or epic arena battles, they want ez wins to stroke their epeen nothing more.

Why do you have to assume Bioware has to homogenize classes to make them competitive in say 3vs3 or 4vs4 content?

And yes, what I say is the gospel compared to the crap nerd ragers like you spout on these forums.

  12. Let me sum this up for some of you:

The people who dislike and constantly hate on arenas, suck at arenas.

Over the course of time, changes made to classes strictly because of arena were very rare and minimally effected PvE; in fact, many changes that were warranted and needed for arena content never saw the light of day for fear of PvE being effected.

  13. This coming from a jedi shadow, are you *********** kidding me???

What happens if you are the on ein stealth and do the opener....same **** happens, the guy is at 45% after your opener...plus in real pvp if a scoundrel opens on you you just do force cloak and say "catcha later!"

Spinning Kick = 2 second knockdown, 400-500 damage.

Hiddenstrike = 3 second knockdown, 2000-3000 damage, another 1.5-2K damage over 6 seconds.

Just to make you aware, those abilities aren't the same. Also, just to highlight something, that extra second of knockdown actually makes a HUGE difference in terms of getting off initial burst; it allows you to chain together multiple abilities much quicker due to ability lag and how the global works in this game.

  14. I'm a Jedi Shadow, full champion gear with 12% expertise, and just under 16K HP. Similarly geared Operatives/Scoundrels (without expertise buffs or stims popped) can drop me to 30-40% HP in the initial 3 second knockdown of Hidden Strike/Shootfirst. I know these numbers are real and not inflated because I've dueled these people time and time again (it's the most controlled environment you can create).

If you think that being able to drop any class to 30-40% with a 3 second opener is fair and balanced, than perhaps you should go watch Foxnews. See what I did there?

  15. They did not rollback because people got valor from killing players as intended.

If they want to punish people they need to also target the repubs who feed free valor to their empire friends non stop. Maybe ban any repub who died more than four times for exploiting

lol, either you're a brilliant troll or just... wow...

  16. that doesnt mean it was an exploit. They've already said that the so called 'rumors' about npcs & cannons giving valor were false. This means that if someone went from 10 to 60, they spent the entire day out in ilum, probably with an organized group.

If they put that much effort into it, i see nothing wrong with it...except bioware needing to make the valor rewards on ilum a bit less overall.

    That's not an exploit.

You see nothing wrong with this?

If you can go from valor rank 10-60 in 1 day of Ilum "group pvp" then this game is broken beyond belief. Not to mention that they just completely gave a HUGE middle finger to everyone that has been grinding WZs for it.

  17. I love how the answer is always "use your trinket" or "play as a team", so ironic.

I get that the game can't and will never be balanced completely around 1v1. But when a class has a MASSIVE advantage in 1v1 scenarios, as this class does, it definitely creates imbalances in group PvP as well. That shouldn't be too hard to understand for those with half a brain.

  18. while i understand the need for lower levels to not face level 50's in champion gear, i'm speaking from a level 50's perspective.

On my server, the majority of 50's are empire, so we get more huttball matches then anything else. Now this wouldn't be a problem, except one of the guilds is already battlemasters... They group up, and it's basically a 100% chance that they are going to win. Even if they are up against another premade.

While this bracket was necessary, it came to soon for the level 50 population. Our queues are way to long, and in the case of my server, if your playing during a certain part of the day, your going to end up facing the battlemasters...

My guild doesn't have enough 50's for operations, so pvp was the thing i was doing to keep myself entertained. I loved it. After two hours of pvp today, i dont ever want to pvp on my level 50 again...

    Tldr:

Level 50 pvp sucks now. Bracket screwed over the 50's.

    roll republic

  19. Why don't you tell us what game is fair?

Basketball? No, you're taller than me, not fair.

US-Football? No, you're bigger than me, not fair.

BF3? No, you have a better framerate and ping than me, not fair.

There are exactly two fair games: Chess and Pong.

Chess? No, you're smarter than me, not fair.

Pong? No, you have better reflexes than me, not fair.

    Your logic doesn't make sense.

  20. Since Bioware clearly isn't going to do a rollback on servers I just wanted to clearly present the current predicament to the community and ask a question of you.

    SUMMARY OF WHAT'S HAPPENED:

Somehow this mess has gone through to live. For whatever reason, problems with Ilum have allowed the dominate faction to spawn camp at an unprecedented level while simultaneously controlling the majority of or entire map; which is resulting in unintended, grossly bloated valor gains. Essentially, both sides (to some degree) were gaining huge amounts of unearned/unintentional valor, with one side (typically Imperials) reaping the majority of the benefit here.

    THE PREDICAMENT:

You go to your superiors and say, "We have to do a rollback guys. There's no feasible way to fix this problem or salvage what's been allowed."

    They. Tell. You. No.

What is the next best step or solution in your "perfect world"?

  21. This is a real bug and I have to say it's pretty damn annoying. I've won multiple games, that didn't end due to uneven teams or something, that weren't counted for my Daily or Weekly. It's really not a huge deal, but when it comes to PvP it should be somewhat of a priority.
