You can remove armoring from any item that has one.

If you remove the armoring from some high end items, it will bind to that slot (so it can only be transferred from chest to chest).

Currently, Armorings of level 61 or above (new in 1.2) have the set bonus on the armoring.

Items of level 58 or below (existed before 1.2) have the set bonus on the item, not the armoring.

My understanding is that the set bonus for the old (58 or below) gear will remain on the original shell (after you remove the mods), so crafting a new one wont have the bonus cause that's not what came from the vendor. Also though it doesnt specifically say old or new, if you read the first and second sentence it does seem like both old and new gear armoring will be slot bound (or whatever the term is).

what he said was that for the new gear(warhero/campaign) the setbonus would come from the armoring mod, and for the old gear(battlemaster/rakata/columi) the setbonus would come from the shell

I think what they meant is would "remain" on the shell.

  2. And yes, I understand that the No Research Available in red means that I cannot RE it.

From what i have encountered "No research available" simply means i cant get new schemetics off it because (a) I have already learned the schemetic (b) There is simply no new schemetics for it because it's a world drop or uncraftable item such as "Commando Armoring 2" for cybertech. So "No research available does not mean you cant RE it.

  3. Totally agree with you on the first part, i was disappointed myself. Gave me the impression that "ALL" armoring will include the set bonus and later backed up and said only the newer armoring will include the bonus. =( But to be fair, they did state early that the armoring are only transferable to similar slots (ie: chest to chest). But yeah wish they included moving set bonuses for all existing pre-1.2 sets too.
  4. Because we all watch the dev tracker and read every single post? Patch notes is where it should of been put.

I am not saying he's wrong cause he hasnt read the post, i am not on forum 24 hours/day so i miss a lot of post myself. It was a friendly post to point out to him that it has been posted since he was asking for official words. I dont qq at info i missed (there is no need to), there is no point blaming ppl for stuff i didnt read. I qq only when dev says A but the result is B. And yes, i love QQ-ing on the forum =) But yes, not everyone likes to read the forum/news but i still feel one should at least read the weekly dev updates, (especially for ppl like me who dont read it daily) if they cared enough to post on the forum abt it.

PS: Not directed at "rangedftw", just saying in general.

  5. You know what else is funny? Modifiable belts with armor slots.

all #23+ armoring are bound to the piece of gear they came in (armoring from a Head item must go back into a Head item), that is to say, there is no armoring piece currently in a piece of gear out there that is of Columi/Exotech/Champion quality or above that you can pull out and put it in your belt...which means the armoring modifications you can get on illum/belsavis vendors for daily coms are the highest level armor mod you can have in a modifiable belt atm...

I got trolled as **** doing this when I bought my Exalted legacy belt and spent about 100k in extraction costs messing with different pieces of gear trying to get an armoring piece that would work.

If you remove the armoring from some high end items, it will bind to that slot (so it can only be transferred from chest to chest).

Again, same thread/link as my post above yours

  6. The BIGGER issue atm is none of it matters. Pulling the armor mod from a set peice does not work like they said it would...the set bonus does not go with it. So this means you will still need to wear 4 out of 5 set peices to get your bonus and you diff outfit just turned into one peice of orange gear you can wear with an aug slot......................Whats even more funny is the new war hero orange skins do the same thing when people pull their mods out and insert them into the new pvp oranges the pvp bonus goes poof from that as well.

So yeah, the set bonus are only attached to armoring of the new high end gear.

  7. are these missions ANY investigation missions or just lockboxes?

Are these weapons better that the purple lvl 50's and oranges we can already craft? because currently the demand for these is really low due to pvp pve weapons being so much better damage wise?

I was hoping with 1.2 that at least some new level barrels would be made available to make our orange guns competative with low level PVP PVE gear?

Any investigation missions. Oranges are all the same if you put identical mods in them, the only difference is the look. I have heard (unconfirmed, and i could be totally wrong)that you can now RE high level barrels to get the schemetics.

  8. Is there anyway that we could possibly get some sort of definitive answer, preferably a blue post? Do the set bonuses only transfer with the new gear? Do some of them transfer and some of them not? Is it bugged, is it intentional, 'sup Bioware?

  9. 1. Buy orange shematic

    2. craft it till you crit with augment slot

    3. ???

    4. profit?

Whats the point in Reverse engineering anything (except for the cosmetic hipsters)?

Um... cause maybe you cant crit craft orange armor til 1.2? The only crittable orange weapons need 3 of those endgame pve mats so less try to crit those.
