  1. I'm quitting but only for like two weeks because I prefer to pay all my bills early in each month. Having something go out on the 20th just wrecks my preferred organization of bill paying. So yea, no cool title for me but I'm fine with it. As to the game itself I'm still quite enjoying it. I've always thought it'd be a good hold over to future MMOG releases like TSW and most especially GW2 and that's exactly what it is for me.
  2. I'm quitting because I prefer to pay my bills all around the same time. So I'll be resubbing in a few weeks.
  3. I kinda though they were probably the same once you chose your advanced class but I didn't know for sure, so I didn't mention it. But you are right, that is another issue I'd like to see them change at some point. Considering just how different some of the advanced classes are to each other, the stories should also change. It's another example of the linearity of lack of branching stories or actual choice.
  4. Crafty reply lol. Most games with a branching storyline, you know when a branch happens because some major choice comes up, or the game changes in such a way that you know what you just did changed things. I suppose they could branch it out and you wouldn't know it, but why make things so subtle?
  5. It seems to me that Bioware promised us deep stories where your choices matter and can actually change things. Maybe I read to much into that. But now that I've gotten fairly deep into four different class stories, from what I've seen none of the class stories branch out at all. None of the choices you make have any consequences, or change anything. It's really the 'illusion of choice' that one of the lead designers so infamously stated as one of their design philosophies. Still, am I the only one that is disappointed that each story appears to be a strait line with no real choice or consequences? Maybe I just haven't played any that do have those things (and if that's the case, it seems to me they should ALL do that). I'm deep in Chapter 2 of Smuggler, early Chapter 2 Consular, and late Chap 1 with Imperial Agent and Trooper and I have yet to see a choice in the story that leads to anything else but the linear path.
  6. I like both for various situations. Bowdaar starts rather under geared so he comes off as weak on survivability, but get him some decent gear, either crafted or quested and he becomes a solid tank. He can still die fairly easy if you don't use him well.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I wouldn't have thought it'd be balance but that makes things interesting.
  8. I know other classes have fairly popular hybrid builds going on but I don't know if there are any for Sage. I'd like to make a sage that is an efficient healer but also can solo dps fairly well. So I was thinking a hybrid Seer/Tekekinetics Sage might be interesting. I would eventually (at 50) switch to a more focused Sage build (and hopefully duel spec will be available soon as well) but for now, for leveling purposes, a hybrid spec would be really sweet. I've managed to pick out a few 'core' perks in each tree to start, like Immutable Force, Mental Longevity, Telekinetic Defense, but I'm still fairly lost when it comes to creating a good hybrid spec. So I figured I'd ask if anyone on here knows of any good ideas, or 'must have' traits in each tree that would make up the essential or perhaps can post the hybrid spec they themselves are using? I was thinking maybe something like this spec, but I really don't know the class well enough yet to know if that's an effective spec or not pre-50 heals and leveling dps. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GGbRbd0dZfobrdoZ0M.1 Thanks in advance.
  9. Unfortunately most players come from WoW, where in the last four years the game has become Tank & Spank with hardly any need for CC in the entire game. Because of this you have all these people with the bad habit of just running in and unloading everything and when it doesn't work out, they get aggro fast or dead, they ***** and moan. None of them use the plethora of interrupts the game has, or let the CC classes use their stuns and mez's. They are all so used to face rolling content in WoW, a game that has become synonymous with easy mode, that they all have to learn how to play an MMOG again. Frankly it's going to be even worse in a game like Guild Wars 2 where every player basically has to take care of themselves and learn their class and the games dynamics (which are on the whole different from WoW). That game is going to be all about personal responsibility as there are no healers or tanks. I think those of us who aren't as big a WoW players (I haven't played it a year+, so I'm frankly used to MMOGs where you have to use your abilities and your head to win them) just need to be patient, and help teach the 'rush through, face roll' WoW players how to play an MMOG again.
  10. It's fine to have a few points in all three, but no more than four or five or you won't be able to max out your tree of choice. As to the 'last tree', Dirty Fighting, a lot of people consider it underwhelming for leveling as it really doesn't come into it's own until higher level. It rocks at those levels mind. I enjoy Dirty Fighting myself but have chosen to hybrid it with Sawbones for extra heals, survivability and greater access to Upper Hand. Once I hit 50 I'll probably switch back to a more pure Dirty Fighting, the bleeds make the class have fantastic DPS in longer fights, as well as PvP. But right now I'm enjoying my build a lot at 27. To make it easier you can use a web character builder to try and get a spec you'll enjoy. The most off used one is; http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc
  11. I enjoyed Nar Shaddaa (the Smuggler story in particular). But really copy-pasted assets is the norm for Bioware ever since Dragon Age 2.
  12. Unfortunately you can find dozens of examples of classes and their mirrors. From various abilities, to talents. More often than not it's detrimental to the Republic side, but not always. It really does suggest rather sloppy internal testing, or perhaps they just don't care about it.
  13. Yes it was nerfed again. Now it is a rare thing to get a container with more credits than the mission to get it cost. That's just ridiculous. Yes you can go out into the world and slice containers for free but since you can get your crew skills to far higher ranks than your level, at my lvl, 25ish, they generally reward 100-250 credits, which is pathetic of course.\ So I dropped Slicing and picked up UWT. I did this two days ago and have made about 60k off selling mats.
  14. Global Cooldown is the devil! Glady GW2 doesn't have it. It's such a pain in the *** in this game. Combined with the animation responsiveness issues it makes combat a real bore at times. On topic, I found my Scoundrel to be fun really around 20. I'm actually Dirty Fighting spec and can lay down some pretty serious aoe bleeding to back up the other fun Scoundrel abilities. But yea I enjoyed the class always but it was around 20 or 25 that it 'really' got fun. Combat issues aside.
  15. My biggest complaint is that many powers have their effect happens often before the animation plays out. It makes interruption mechanics next to impossible to use effectively. Say for example a smuggler comes up behind you to use their big attack and you attempt to interrupt them, more often than not you interrupt 'after' the affect because you got hit 'before' the animation even played out! This drives me nuts in both PvP and PvE and is extremely rampant. The only time it doesn't happen is on long spinup abilities like the BH's big jetpack/rocket ability.
