  1. I've yet to dive in to the new chapters, but having read this article I'm thinking the droid matter is intentional: Scroll to the last screenshot at the bottom and read the dialogue options
  2. Would be interested in joining, but had trouble finding someone in squadron, or getting a reply when I IM'd one who was. Not sure I am yet to fit into the bracket of "talented pilot" but keen to learn, quite hard to gauge success when sat in a stock ship, but have got a few upgrades under my belt now and keen to keep going!
  3. Yes, that's still the case, sadly. I use the raid frames as default as they are so much much better, plus having your own health bar with the others means I don't forget to heal myself (frequent occurence). So it's quite annoying to have to go into prefs and switch back when I'm in a 2/3 man group - something I usually only remember to do after somebody's companion has died at least twice
  4. Same as clicking Male or Female at the create a character screen is just that, an option. Personally, I've never understood why it's suddenly become an issue for people, is there a lot of post-ERP anguish out there or something? When I started RP over 10 years ago, we were IC all of the time, nobody cared what people were in RL, certainly to my knowledge nobody hid it (hard to with 40-50 of us all at a RL meet), it just never came up because when you're IC all the time, you just see the chars not the players, it simpy wasn't a factor. Then people come up with that amateur psychologist "sexual insecurity" nonsense. It's not those who choose to cross-play that are insecure, it's the ones that have issue with those that do. And yes, I have some female avis
  5. And the "No Sh*t Sherlock" award goes to...
  6. I was over the moon when 1.1 came out. I'm not what I would consider a low end machine by any means (quad i5, 4GB mem), nor am I close to high end either, but the graphics card it came witha Nvidia 420, is horrible and I plan to buy one asap, but have to limp along until I have some free cash to use. I was getting 10-15fps before and when I hit Jedi Temple on Coruscant, I nearly cried as it dropped to under 7. Then 1.1 came out. At first I thought it was slower, so I checked graphics prefs to find the patch seemed to put everything on high (a lot of options that were previously unavailable, I have a feeling some of which were just "always on" before), so I put them on low and boom, 30-40 fps suddenly. Sure it's not pretty, but it's at least playable and this will keep me rolling nicely until I do buy a better GFX. So, frankly patch 1.1 was great from my viewpoint.
  7. The support guys are in Texas I'd imagine, -6 GMT, so that makes 2pm GMT 8am. You're saying the tech guys should come in to work around 2am their time to please you, on top of their regular hours. Yes, I can clearly see they're the ones being selfish not you. Grow up, get a job, better yet, get a job that's in their field of work, then maybe you'll understand. Been there over 15 years. Out of Hours is relative. The out of hours is when it's out of hours for where the support people are. We don't down our stuff at 3pm and screw up the UK workforce so it doesn't impact our office in India! This community continually bragged on chat channels how it's so much superior to games like WoW - seems to me like it's the same whiny, spoilt little children here than any other game. You complain about not getting the forums you like, I can see why - why spend resources making another 60 forums to be server-specific if it's just going to be more whining for the staff to moderate?
  8. I've already abandoned one so called RP server for another, due to rudeness. Not just what the OP talks of (which is rife but then having seen it in WoW and other MMOs the past few years, I now expect it. But OOC immaturity, the quality of conversation in guild chat barely above 12 year olds in the playground, AT BEST. At its worst, it was a guild leader who thinks he can treat everyone like mud OOC because it's a "hardcore military guild", when in truth he clearly has as much military experience as an embittered army cadet who gets picked on by his squad and CO. It was literally abuse and bullying of guild mates OOC - appalling behaviour. OP, like you I started IN UO, then SWG - it was a different world then. One where there wasn't a PC in the bedroom of every whiny "I want I want I want" teenager on the planet. Our kind are an endangered species - this is the Age of the XBox-kiddie generation. The fact is, MMO players as a population are becoming more rude, more selfish, less mature, and really quite It's no wonder they spend all their time on the computer. If they set foot outside and actually inteacted with other people face to face, they would get instant feedback of their behaviour: usually in my day, a smack in the mouth - and after a couple they get the message and do something about themselves rather than be rewarded for their behaviour, which is how it works in today's society. Glad I got that off my chest - and don't bother arguing or trolling this post, chances are you're the very people I talk about, so your opinion means nothing to me anyhow. It's my final say on the matter from my personal viewpoint and NOBODY will convince me otherwise, I have my own ears and eyes and they work just fine, thankyou.
  9. That was all my point was MacHeath, it's a nice to have. Not something to control your entire gaming experience (again, my PoV), and willingly make it unpleasant for other people, over a little piece of data sat on a database, somewhere. Valax - I never said I was mad about it. There is a heck of a big middle ground between the extremes of maddening rage and unbridled, rapturous joy. I know the usual judgement passed on forums is "hater or fanboy" but not for me. And no, I would not lead a raid in the manner you described, nor have I ever in the numerous times I have done over the years. Raids / roles has nothing to do with my original post, it's 4man/classes - different entirely. I made an observation - some clearly share the sentiment. Others, naturally, do not. There you have it.
  10. Nope, I don't think you're understanding me at all dipstik, just seeing the same thing differently
  11. I have nothing against doing it for "4 different positions" if that's their goal. But all classes have at least 2 different roles they can fill with ACs, so I don't see that's really beneficial, but each to their own. I'm referring to groups where people have literally said they aren't inviting another of their class because they want "such and such" drop. I go with 2 other commandos, know full well I have a small chance of getting stuff, but don't drop out because of it. Even passed on a pair of boots that gave a big END boost but only a small aim one as I thought the Vanguard would be more appropriate to need than a healer (of course that bit me in the bum, I lost the rolls on the subsequent gloves and weapon ) And to whoever asked what made me think this community would be any different from any other MMO - well, that's all I've heard people saying in chat in beta and in live (well that and "speak English in chat!!!") about how much ;)better we all are than other games - so they must be right, right? And I don't run with them, I've not been in such a group just saw some around on the Republic fleet chat. So this isn't a bitterness post, I was just saddened by it. I'm old school, maybe I cling on to the past too much
  12. Less than a month into the game, it's already happening. The ultimate example of "Loot above all" 4 man "LFG" flashpoint teams being organised as "class runs" 1 Knight, 1 consular, 1 smuggler, 1 commando Or more often, a case of "I will have nobody of the same class as me in my group" And on a RP server too. Even back when I played "the MMO that must not be named", I never saw that sort of behaviour on something as trivial as a levelling 5man. Saddened.
  13. Except that Light-sided Sith can use Blue/green, and Dark-sided Republic Jedi can use red. So that wouldn't help you.
  14. Really confused by what the OP was expecting here. So if your character was beset upon by a Jedi/Sith with a saber and slashes at your arm, were you expecting to be playing the rest of a game as a one-armed Bounty Hunter? I also cannot see how this game can be blamed for turning SW into this. You never Played Star Wars Galaxies I'm guessing? Or the Jedi Academy games, Force Unleashed, Republic Commando, etc. I don't recall one hitting any mobs in KOTOR or indeed a dark jedi doing the same to my char. Going back to X-Wing vs Tie Fighter, I don't recall my ship bursting into flames after being hit once, there were things like shields whihc, despite the Xwings & Ywings supposedly having those in Ep IV, still seemed to explode staright away. But you see there's the movie world, the real world, and then there is the gaming world - they are not freely interchangeable and tend to work quite differently.
