  1. I was mainly responding to the whine that there's no ranked queues popping on Jung Ma. I played ranked myself, back when it was 8 man. But I personally despise arenas so won't play it now. Like I said, I can't soo much speak for everyone on JM, but I'd imagine there are quite a few that feel similarly to myself.
  2. Location doesn't matter. That's not what kills the community. What kills the community is mass amounts of players deciding they'd rather not go where BW is focing them to go and they reroll on a different server entirely. Maybe the "cesspool" that is PoT5 turns off just around 30% of existing JM players. Across the board. From every different guild and every grouping. From raiders to pvpers to rpers. 30% off the top. They either quit the game, or play on a different server just to avoid PoT5. You thinking losing 30% of the population wouldn't totally devastate the community? We saw it when Ajunta Pall and Ven Zallow got merged into JM. Guilds splintered and died. Some left and moved to Bastion, only to splinter when they got there. The RP-PvP community is exactly that. A community. It is lesser when any member leaves, much less large amounts of them do so because they don't want to play in a "cesspool".

People on JM don't play ranked because the mentality of most people (I assume, because I'm only basing this on my own feelings) that play on an RP-PvP server isn't conducive to 4 man death matching. We don't like it. It destroys anything resembling immersion. Oh, and BTW, it's not effing fun. People on JM pvp in regular warzones because it's fun. It feels like war. Since the craptastic engine handles open world like a nun handles a blowbang we're stuck with Warzones. Besides, we have no plans............
  4. Replace all those mercs with another mara, or maybe a jugg for the taunts and peels and I'd agree with you. Mercs get shut down too easily by focus-fire. They'll be the very first target in every arena, and unlike WoW mages, don't have a mobile/control spec.
  5. This is also true. I may be totally off base. Mainly my fear is that they'll tie arenas to gear and without doing them, you're screwed to always be behind the curve gear-wise. Also, they HAVE to rebalance the friggin' game. Leaving almost 3 classes to be meat for the grinder in arenas is bad implementation.

  7. It's a foregone conclusion that they're going to happen, and that they'll break what's left of the pvp in this game. (Which has become more and more imbalanced with every patch) Just because people are calling for something doesn't make it a good idea. Most of the people talking about how much they loved arenas in WoW are the same people who trolled the WoW boards for hours on end, complaining about imbalances in pvp. Oh, and god help us if BW goes the route of Blizzard and makes the BIS pvp gear only available through arenas.

While you're right, there's nothing forcing me to participate, and I probably won't, the idea that this game that I enjoy so much is basically sucking all that enjoyment out by funneling all the development time for the best aspect of it into an area that I despise forced me to say something. I might not play arenas, probably won't because I don't have a single class I enjoy that I think is going to be viable, but BW needs to know that there's a sizable portion of their playerbase that thinks this is the wrong direction for the game to take.
  10. I played WoW from launch until a few months before cataclysm. I remember this feeling. It was shortly after arenas were released during TBC. I hate arenas. I hate everything about them. I hate the small size, the focus on team composition, the total lack of objectives. I hate the idea that for some reason we're moving backwards in PvP game design. How is it we're going BACK to team deathmatch? I mean, even Blizzard said that arenas were the biggest mistake they've made in the entire development history of the most popular and successful MMO of all time! Why repeat that mistake here?! I hate that out of the 8 advanced classes this game boasts (16 if you count mirrors as separate classes) maybe 4 of them will be viable, and only maybe 2 of them will be viable in more than one spec. And only 1 will be viable in more than one role. Arenas, for anyone that've never experienced them are soul grinding, friendship destroying, rabid a**hole creating clusterf*cks. In Season 1 of arenas in WoW, I got to Rival rank. I think my best team score was in 5v5 and was something like 1950. I played a resto shaman. Yes, that's right, a resto shaman. (Everyone that knows me knows I'd rather drill holes in my feet with an old rusty hand-drill than heal) I leveled enhancement, I pvp'd in regular BG's as elemental and enhancement, but there's no way in hell I could do arenas as either of those specs. Just not possible. So *I* Medin, was stuck friggin' healing. I wasn't horrible at it, honestly, I just hated it soooo much I swore to never do it again. At the time, my fiance was playing with me, and she and I formed a 2v2 team with her priest and my rogue. We were quite successful (Because that was an OP comp) but every single match we ended up screaming at one another. Either she'd make a newb move and I'd yell, or I'd make a newb move, and she'd yell, or both of us would make a move that wasn't really newb, but just didn't make sense with what the other was doing and we'd yell at each other. I hate arenas, and to be quite honest, I have quite a bit of experience with them. I'm disgruntled, and it's because of arenas. I've lost almost all the enjoyment I got out of the game as little as a month ago. To use a metaphor, for the pve'ers, if BW had been promising for over a year now new pve content, and recently made comments along the lines of how stoked the hardcore raiders would be, then they announced that all new content, all high level content, and the entire focus of their development time was now on 4-man hardmode flashpoints.... How would you feel?

  12. Both DF and Scrapper suffer from the exact same problem in PvP. Zero defense. If someone looks at you, you die. I actually notice it more for DF than Scrapper because DF spends soo much less time in stealth. It's less reliant on it, thus, more prone to being attacked. Simply put, our two defensive cooldowns are horrible. Dodge is mainly used to clean debuffs and shield probe's only real use to eat about half a smash. We still get hit for a full amount on all AoE's as well, so smash monkeys (Which are overabundant) are a bane for us.

  15. The last part of that quote, in essence is the only real issue I have with the new bolstering system. I enjoy pvp, I do it basically exclusively. I don't do PvE, either flashpoints, or endgame raiding. I don't see the point. I can't use that gear in the largest portion of the game I do enjoy, so there's really no point in me doing it. Sure, it's fun to see the storylines for the Operations and FP's and whatever, but once you've done them, there's no reason to go back. So I gear my characters through player vs player and think nothing more about it. With the current system in place, I know there's some parity. If I do go into an operation in my WH, or EWH, I'm at a severe handicap compared to the others in the OP in their PvE gear. My damage, tanking, and healing will be sub-par. Similarly, if someone that's spent no time doing what I do all day decides to step into my wheelhouse, he's also handicapped by the expertise that his gear is lacking. I've got a bonus on him in MY house, and in his house, he's got a bonus on me. I'm fine with that (Although, I disagree with the system entirely, at least it's fair.) In 2.0 however, my bonus goes away, and his bonus stays. I still cannot participate in the things he enjoys without substantial handicap, yet he gets to enjoy the full extent of my hard work without needing to put in the effort to put himself on equal footing. Bolster 2.0 consigns PvP gear to obsolescence without doing anything similar to PvE gear. And in fact, with the stat difference, I'm quite sure now I'm going to have to do operations in order to place myself on par with others that have that gear in order to compete in pvp, because I'm quite sure the Expertise "Sweet Spot" will be much lower than it is now, and once you reach it, going full pve gear to mack the most of Bolster will be the only way to keep up. So no, I don't dislike the idea of Bolster because I love stomping pugs in bad gear, I dislike the idea because it makes the gear I'm rewarded for doing what I enjoy in the game sub-par to the gear I'd receive for doing something else. Thus removing a large portion of the reason I do it.
  16. Those may have been some of the worst players I've ever seen in a WZ. And I've seen some baddies, since I'm on the single RP-PvP server in NA. I also didn't see a single instance when the extra uptime on TA made a shred of difference in those fights. You probably could have taken Cull off your bar and beat those guys.
  17. K, so I tried this out today, and just going off a few WZ's some pvp out at Illum, and just killing mobs for my dailies, I really kinda like it. I ended up with about 32% damage reduction which isn't much less than I get as 23/1/17. Darkswell and Fade are pretty self explanatory. I'm concerned about the lack of up front burst though, monster Mauls just don't seem like enough. (Posted this in the Inquisitor Forum on accident.)

  20. To all the people saying he does no damage, try this... Equip a blaster on him. BW in all their wisdom forgot to give him one.
  21. I worked this up to try and figure a way to grant Lethality some extra burst, while at the same time fill in what I feel is a gap in the burst rotation when it comes to pvp. This is in no way a PvE spec, purely pvp. I'm only level 35 on my Op, but I'm loving Lethality so far, just feel it has a weak spot when it comes to TA procs and on burst in comparison to full Concealment...   22. Why does everyone want to put point into Shroud of Darkness? That's three points that can be spent on increasing the proc rate of Dark Charge and increasing it's damage. If you have 20k health, you're only getting an extra 200 out of Shroud of Darkness. ROI people.

  24. Amen! I get sooooooo tired of seeing all these whine threads about PT Pyro. Seriously, we're the squishiest players in the game and we have to get REAL close to do any damage. Close enough that SOMEONE should be able to blow us up while we're trying to get there. Yes, Pyro PT's are dangerous. They're also exceptionally weak defensively. Just blow us up and stop whining.
