  1. Action bars? I am talking about the entire premium content you get when you subscribe.

There are no difficult pay-to-play gates as the OP states, only a subscription fee and everything is fine.

If someone wants to go F2P or Pref it can be a bit tricky to find everything needed to get a enjoyable experience so a subscription is the best if someone feels that is difficult.

I'm referring to the overall package of sub vs f2p. I

I can understand most of the lockouts for f2p players but crippling the client itself for people without a sub seems excessive regardless of difficulty to unlock it.

  2. You pay a subscription fee like any other MMO out there if you want to use the premium content, the rest is optional.

I wouldn't exactly call action bars premium content.

I'm of the mind that barring content is fine. Not function. Action bars are function. Not content.

  3. yes it dose need to change. why would you want to spread/promote hate and ignorance? and no troll lives here nor am i joking.

He's the one that presents himself as believing everyone that disagrees with him is joking or trolling. I would suggest not paying much attention to him and/or ignoring him and moving on with life.

  4. Yes there is, and he is one of the two Wookiee Jedi who ever existed, until GL decided he doesn't like that, so no more Wookiee Jedi stuff was ever approved.

Yeah. It seems a bit of a strange requirement and antithetical to the whole principal of the Force being this all encompassing energy that's blind to notions of species.

  5. Because it would totally be worthy to redo all animations, cutscenes, dialogs etc for a cosmetic race that not everyone will play, right?

The "would Leia kiss it" rule is there for technical reasons, not because someone hates certain species.

Why would the need to redo animations and cutscenes? The species being asked for would use the same animations and armatures.

  6. On the whole Romance thing, Gavin Darklighter in the EU Novels had a Bothan girlfriend for a long time, and Corran Horn had a few trysts with a Selonian. That shows that it does happen.

Point being that these are species that have coexisted for thousands of years. In that continuity, species is about as relevant to them as skin color is to us in the Republic. On the Sith side, of course things are different, but alien species are quite capable of getting consideration provided they are more than willing to murder for it and/or strong enough in the Force to demand respect.

  7. Rodians are probably one of the lamest species in all of star wars. There are hundreds of species that are far better, smarter, cooler looking and just generally awesome. Rodiens are just meh. The fact that Bioware went with cathar as the first new playable species a d togruta are next (hello clipping helms) says they don't take adding new species seriously. Don't expect much. We need wookies. And hey, if sony could do it, bioware have no excuse /end thread.

Problem with wookies is that they were very specifically banned by LucasArts from being any format of Force User in books, tv, and games.

  8. It's fine for him to want a Rodian. That's not the issue. The issue is that he apparently feels putting up a whopping $1500 will actually move BW into furnishing him what he wants. Now maybe he is just trolling. Maybe he's just having fun. But it sounds like he's serious. And that's just laughable. You are not being a douchebag by pointing that out, and calling people that is just ad hominem BS.

Whether I'm actively trying to move Bioware or not is irrelevant. I made the offer. They can either accept it or not.

And just to get the facts straight, I'm not doing this just for me. Far be it from me to quote my own post because it feels vain, but:

Now I would be willing to pay the amount up-front, so long as I received a legally binding contract stating that it WOULD be done and a firm lead time or release date. After I got my unlock, they would be provided to anyone else who wanted a Rodian at or near the same price point as Cathar and Togruta.

Bolded the part you apparently missed. Of course $1,500 isn't going to cover the entire dev cost, but they would recoup the difference and turn profit pretty quickly.

That you claim to know what I'm thinking or what I'm feeling about the subject is what makes you a douchebag. You do not know me. Do not pretend that you do.

  9. Guy wants a Rodian, agree or not, I don't get why so many people here have to be douchbags to him about it.

I don't get it either. Acting like I took a big steamy dump on their porches. :rod_confused_g:

I'm not going to worry about it.

if I said i would pay $2000 for them NOT to make it, what would that make me?

It's your money. Go right ahead.

  10. IF...and I mean IF EA were working on another Star Wars game (other than Battlefront), I can't see them giving it to Bioware. On top of that, the last studio I think they'd give it to is Bioware Austin, who's already canned one MMO.

Untitled Star Wars Game is on their TODO list. Whether or not it lives to see release is debatable.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BioWare

Still I agree. I doubt it would be Bioware Austin.

  11. Probably announcing their, thus far, untitled Star Wars game that isn't SWTOR.:D

Unrelated and random thought, though. I always thought Mel Brooks should produce Spaceballs, the Movie, the MMO to parody SWTOR.

  12. Yes I know, which is why I wrote that I only see a possibility for the Nautolan, not for the Kel Dor. They could for the kiss remove the mask but I doubt that would be better.... Still I think it would be awesome to play as Kel Dor but this is not going to happen and maybe not even the Nautolan.

Just because you don't think it should happen doesn't mean you should throw in the towel. Keep pushing at it.

  13. have no problems with the suggestion. make a thread in the suggestion box. Even in general its fine, as long as you expect feedback with people agreeing with you.

    1) its never as easy as you assume

    2) it may not be as popular as you think

    3) they will probably not say yes/no for most of this stuff. unless its already a done deal (togruta has been requested since beta).

people have stated why it may not happen. the suggestion of the bribe which is insignificant to them really doesnt' do anything other than enflame people.

if you simply had suggested a new race (while realistic is on the fringe) and opened for discussion would have been just fine if left at that.

People disagreeing is fine. People launching in to tirades is not. I'm happy to have a debate on it. I'm just not interested in debating with someone that's going to finish their statement by throwing out insults. I stick them on ignore and move on with my life.

Now then, it has been suggested, debated, hashed and rehashed time and time again. Rodians have been suggested just as long as Togruta. I remember because I was here during the beta. Nearly every avenue has been tried, but so far there has not been success.

What has NOT been tried is offering a wad of cash for it, which is what I'm doing. As I said. Bioware can either accept it or decline it. Until they say one way or the other though I'm going to keep going.

A sizable wad of cash (And notions of dev costs or other issues aside, $1,500 is a sizable amount of money) in exchange for a species that normally wouldn't be considered. Why is that a bad thing?

  14. he is just trying to push your buttons and troll you just ignore him.. he will go away eventually.

i say keep on with the good fight and i hope someone will listen. this game needs something to put a spark of life back into it instead of the same ole dead wet leafs they keep adding to the coals.

Most of the posts in this thread are just trying to push buttons and start flame wars. I don't give them much consideration. I'm just going to keep pushing and keep going until bioware says yes or no.

Making suggestions don't work. Complaining don't work, so I'm going to try just straight up bribery.

  15. hypothetical meeting required to add a species

    Lead writer: Not needed

    Lead artist: Yes

Lead animator: Marginal involvement. Animations are already done.

Lead costume designer: Not needed. Costuming would be the same as the existing species.

Lead voice/dialogue: Not needed as I've already explained.

production manager: Marginal involvement to say yes or no.

Community Lead: Why? The community has nothing to do with it.

project manager: Same as production manager.

    software lead: Minimal involvement.

    Test Lead: Yes

    QA Lead: Yes.

You're trying to make it sound like I'm asking for a monumental task when a large portion, if not most, of the work is already done.

Either way it boils down to Bioware either accepting or declining the offer. You're not Bioware are you?

  16. Why not make Hutts, Trandoshans and Gormak playable then?!?!?!?! :rak_02:

Hutt. Probably not. The armature would be too different.

Doshans maybe. Same animations but there would need to be a number of alterations to the base body mesh.

Davoreans, Duros, Mon calimari, and Neimodians would all work well also as player species.

  17. Op,

    Have you considered this?

You offered a certain amount for a character but for them to do another race there has to be more interest in it than just one or two people.

From what I recall from launch bw has stated they would probably not do races such as these for various reasons but

if you truly want them to change their minds you are going to have to have more than one person wanting the race and then explain how they can work with the limitations there are for other races.

I have considered it before I ever made the offer and there is demand for more iconic species in this game. A few years back a poll was put out listing species people would like to see in the game. Rodians were pretty high on the list so no. It isn't just one or two people.

Of course the $1500 would not cover the entire production cost. I never said that it would, but it would cover a decent portion of it. It is there to give them incentive to change their minds on the policy. With demand I am confident that Bioware would quickly recoup the difference and start profiting on it.

I'm not asking for a Hutt or anything else so absurd. I'm asking for a species that is just human like enough to use the same body shapes, animations, and equipment so as I said before a good deal of the work is already done.

  18. These are the criteria for a playable char.

    All new races

    1) must speak basic

There are indications that they can speak basic but both are from the Cartoons.

    2) must be able to be romanced

I think we've established this is a no fly for a few people

    3) must work for all classes and work with all companions

I'm not even sure if there are Rodian Jedi/Sith

    4) must work with all existing armor

As I already said they are shorter and slimmer then other races so they don't fit this one either.

    1. They can, as was already established in Canon earlier in the Thread.

    2. Who says that they can't? Not my cup of tea but so what?

    3. There are Rodian Jedi, Bounty Hunters, Smugglers, Agents, Troopers. Not much of a stretch to find them just about everywhere.

    4. They can. Same body form. Same armor. Probably wouldn't even need any modification to helmets for the head.

    Ok. NOW I'm done.

  19. You notice most of the NPCs don't really move right? That means there is a good chance they are not designed with a full range of motion like the PCs are that would have to be worked on if that is the case plus there is the armor issue. Rodians are shorter and more slim then the other races that are payable meaning the armors would have to be remade to work with their smaller/slimmer frames.

Slimmer, not really. There are some fat Rodians. Shorter yes, but then that's mostly just a matter of scaling which they don't even have to do, really. They won't have to use the bodies off of the NPC Rodians, but rather just cut their heads off and merge those in to the PC bodies and armatures to use the same animations as the player characters. Some minor re-meshing would probably need to be done at the neck, but nothing that a first year intern couldn't do. After that, texture mapping (which they can probably swipe from the NPC models).

Anyway that's it for me. Gotta get up early to make my money but I'll check back with it tomorrow and bump accordingly.
