I think the op is right, though i hate to admit it.
SWG is a great example of how RP should be, a kind of natural rp that everyone participated in with out being totally aware of it. The empire was out numbered, but very organized and comprised totally of ******es. The rebellion was numerous but basically a disorganized mob. each side hated the other, and it took no prompting or understanding of star wars lore. you just had to play the game for a few months and you would develop some very strong opinions. everyone was in character, and you complained about the opposing side accordingly.
this game doesn't bring that. there is limited contact btw factions, so there is limited drama, and therefor limited rp. and you really have to force what rp there is, which ruins it.
to be fair, very few MMOs can achieve a good natural rp setting
