  1. She never gave a "different point of view", she gave her point of view, and anyone that didn't conform to what she perceived as a good character, was made to conform or died, most notably Mara Jade when Traviss' main reason for killing her off was because she was a, and I quote "pathetic Jedi".

While I'm not a large KT fan, killing off Mara Jade wasn't entirely up to her. Her colleagues and Del Ray's Star Wars connections had to agree to the killing. And there wasn't a lot of options. They're not allowed to touch Luke, Han or Leia, it's unlikely they'll kill off more children that they just recently started building up, and Jaina had already been built up as a prophecized character with a destiny. That really only leaves Tenel Ka as a character that meant squat to Jacen.

Mara Jade was a logical choice really given the large amount of restrictions placed on who can be touched.

Edit: Also going to throw out there that Wookieepedia(while sometimes inaccurate), states the Average Human Lifespan is 100 years. I've never seen anything contradictory to this. If anyone has a better source, I'd like to see it.

  2. Just finished reading the Revan book of the new republic series and couldn't help but wonder who would have won if they (Revan and Vitiate) had been allowed to fight to the death. I feel that after a long difficult battle Revan would have prevailed with the help of lord Scrouge and the exile of course.

A one on one battle however i feel would have gone to Vitiate. His natural and found knowledge of the dark side would have been way too much for Revan to handle alone. Anyone else have any thoughts or opinions on the subject???

Dude, you just read the book. The whole reason Revan went at him as a group is because the Emperor was too powerful for him alone. What happened when Scourge did what he did and Revan was left to fight him 1 vs 1?

    There's your answer.

  3. OP, not sure anyone has really answered your question so I'll jump in and get it. In the EU it's widely known that Lucas has passed down that no one is able to touch what is referred to as "The BIG 3". Luke, Leia and Han. They're untouchable, they cannot suffer any permanent disfigurement or death. That's leading to some huge problems in the EU because, yes, they're 70+ and fighting like they're young still. It's getting pretty bad.

Writers have tried to slowly phase them out and make their children the focus of the stories, but they're still in, fighting with the best of them. It will come to a head eventually, but right now it's a fairly obvious problem that you yourself have noticed.

Edit: Just to add, Boba Fett, while not in the big three, is such a fan favorite that they're afraid to touch him too. In that series specifically, he is Karen Traviss' favorite character and the whole reason he and the Mandalorians are within it(She loves the Mandalorians). People raged out so hard after Chewbacca's death that killing movie characters off is taboo now.

  4. The Troopers Revan led throughout the Jedi Civil War were his own, as far as I understand it. Revan had followers following the Mandalorian Wars, he was a war hero. They touched on this a bit in Kotor 2, but part of Revan's power was his ability to convince people to do things and he had amassed a following.

The troops/followers working for the Sith Triumvirate were also remnants of Revan's forces, I believe. This is also touched upon in Kotor 2. Alot of these guys came from the hidden Sith temple on Malachor V, one Revan discovered and used.

The troops under the Sith Empire are of course, the Emperor's forces, which are obviously seperate.

  5. Honestly I never played it. spent most of my time during these years playing either Everquest or Final Fantasy 11.

Not sure I entirely understand this sandbox concept

also heard they actually had bounties and people hung in cantinas on regular basis

so why did a game that sounds this awesome/immersive get tossed in the trash?

I'm not going to bother reading through all the posts that are going to tell you probably the same thing I'm about to say:

It wasn't that awesome. For fanboys, they adored it because it was Star Wars. I consider myself a fairly big star wars dork and I couldn't stomach the horrible amount of game desgin flaws and bugs. People complain about bugs here, that game had enduring bugs that they knew about since beta and never got fixed in the entire time it was open.

They had a lot of great ideas that in practice, failed to meet expectations. But the ideas they had is why, for someone who never played it, would think the way it sounds couldn't fail.

  6. Most of these lists are pretty fair. I'd argue that Yoda is the 2nd most powerful Jedi of all time, more so than Jedi Anakin. He simply hadn't reached his full potential. Mace Windu deserves a spot simply for being the best duelist pre-EU Luke.

I'd also argue Darth Caedus should probably be on any Sith listing simply because his array of powers was wider than probably most Sith Lords, and his lightsaber skills were 2nd only to Luke. His sister only beat him when she was being granted a battle meld with Luke.

Other than that, I like a lot of these lists.

  7. Not sure which part of Lore you're referring to, things within the current Old Republic game, or Star Wars lore in general.

Generally in SW Lore, if a group isn't rallying to a large organized government, its because they have a minor government of their own and they don't want what the other group has to offer.

The Voss are a bit like this in the game.
