  1. I'm a returning player. Previously, the three characters I rotated through were a Commando, a Sage, and a Gunslinger so, obviously, my preferred play style is turret. I'm rolling a Shadow because I want that mix of force powers and saber fighting at the 4m - 10m range. Which of the three advanced Shadow classes will fit my turret (or, I guess for a melee class, toe-to-toe) play style more? I will mostly be doing solo story PvE. I'm thinking Kinetic (tank), but I thought I'd ask here from those who have played one or all of the advanced classes. Thanks!
  2. Thank you, Equeliber. That's helps!
  3. LOL, thanks, Steve. I read about the differences between the two storylines and your summary kind of fits what was said before (although in a more humorous way). I started a Jedi Shadow last night and it feels exactly what I was looking for in gameplay. I played through the Consular storyline as a Sage a while ago, but playing a different race and class will hopefully make it a different experience. Thanks, again!
  4. I'm a returning player and conflicted about what type of Jedi to play (PvE, primarily solo story line). I found the Jedi Sage/Shadow story line and companions boring, whereas the Jedi Sentinel/Guardian storyline and companions looked more like the experience I want to have. The problem is, on the surface, it appears the Jedi Sentinels/Guardians are just hack-and-slash with no discernable Force attacks. Is there a Jedi Sentinel or Guardian advanced class that utilizes more Force powers than the others? Are they fun Force powers or just like a hand-wave that has little to no visual feedback? In an ideal world, I could play a Jedi Shadow in the Jedi Sentinel/Guardian story line, but, since I can't, what's the next best thing on the Jedi Sentinel/Guardian side? Thanks!
  5. What I propose is instead of replacing Full Auto with Boltstorm at level 58, Full Auto is buffed. It's done for other skills within the skill tree progression.
  6. I'm an old software engineer myself so I know that some tasks that look simple on the surface can be very complex under the hood, especially if the code is spaghetti. But, I've also learned that it never hurts to ask! I've been surprised in the past with what's possible. I'm just afraid this is a P4 ask that keeps getting punted. At some point I hope a dev can give it some attention.
  7. I know this comes up every so often, but nothing has changed to date so I'll suggest it again. Please replace the Commando's Grav Round animation with the one used for Charged Bolts. Please replace the Commando's Boltstorm animation with the one used for Full Auto. I want to love my Commando. I really do. It's been my class of choice since beta. Commandos should be all about hitting hard. Grav Round sounds like the gun is passing gas and Boltstorm looks like I'm blowing bubbles. Neither of those look nor sound hard hitting. Commandos are not magical wizards casting spells, nor should they be blowing kisses and tossing flowers are their opponents. I want Star Wars. I want linear blaster bolts and blaster sounds. I want explosions. Bounty Hunters have the right animations. They fire missiles. Their shots look like they come from a blaster. They look like they hit hard. Please, please consider this suggestion so that I (and others who have made this suggestion before me) may enjoy both the Commando story line and the combat. Thanks!
  8. Confirmed. I defeated all the enemy in the instance and six kolto tanks and I could only attain 28/30 Cyber Mercenaries.
  9. The Gunnery class is easy to learn and does not require a lot of finger gymnastics to play. I love it. You're correct that Dulfy doesn't have a 4.0 Commando guide, but they do have a 4.0 Mercenary guide, which is the Empire's mirror of the Commando class. You may need Dulfy's Mercenary/Commando ability names translation to comprehend the guide fully as you start out. This should get you started. Have fun!
  10. I have to say, I agree with the OP on names. It's a pet peeve of mine. There's a name generator in-game during character creation so coming up with a genre-appropriate name is not difficult. In my opinion, using a genre-appropriate name shows respect for the game and respect to the other players enjoying the immersion. It's a small thing, but it's a thing.
  11. I'm a Founder and I've been on Begeren since...forever. I chose this server specifically because it was a RP server. I'm a solo player and time-to-time I take breaks from playing to spend time on other hobbies so I'm not one for guilds. What I enjoy, though, is watching those around me RP even if I don't actively participate in it myself. I was reading up on server populations and I decided to visit the server forum to check the pulse. This thread breathed some life back into my sails and removed all thoughts of moving. For that, I thank you!
  12. Here's that shows you how to access your collections.
  13. Edited list of upcoming changes to Shadows and Assassins. To see the full list, please see the original thread.
  14. I recently purchased a Logitech m570 wireless trackball and had the exact same issue. I searched the Internet for a solution and tried all the suggestions. The only thing I found that came close, and it was something I noticed on my own, was in the SetPoint control panel, under Game Settings, the "Keep other button assignments" was unchecked by default. Toggling that on allowed the mouse wheel to zoom the camera and scroll menus within SWTOR, but it was not smooth at all and, frankly, unplayable. I uninstalled the Logitech software and tried a Microsoft wireless mouse and the Microsoft Trackball Explorer I was looking to replace. Both scrolled as expected from the get-go. Bottom line, whatever it is about the Logitech m570 hardware or software, the scrolling is just not compatible with SWTOR (I didn't test any other games to see if it was specific to SWTOR).
  15. Buying credits is also a good way to get your credit card or account hacked and your in-game credits added to their coffers that they then turn around offer to sell to others. Just to be thorough, the rules regarding buying/selling credits are in the STAR WARS™: THE OLD REPUBLIC™ RULES OF CONDUCT: To keep the Service a compliant, fun, fair and safe gaming environment for everyone, you may not engage in any of the following behavior: Buy, sell, transfer or auction (or host or facilitate the ability to allow others to buy, sell or auction), or offer to transfer, sell or auction, or buy or accept any offer to transfer, sell or auction, any game Account or game Content, including (without limitation) game characters, character attributes, items, objects, currency, credits or copyrighted material, or any other intellectual property owned or controlled by the Services, or its our licensors, without first obtaining our express written permission, nor may you encourage or induce any other player to participate in such prohibited transaction(s).
  16. I looked, but couldn't find an answer. Does Treek stay with you after you lose your class companions? I hit 60 last night, but I just finished Balmorra so I have a way to go in the story before I experience the loss of my companions. I was just curious what to expect in regards to Treek. Thanks!
  17. Yeah, I forgot to test it this morning, but, apparently, turning off bloom is supposed to help remove the "blob" look. I did do some searching to find out which color crystal looks the least worst. I'm a software UI developer so I deal with graphic artists and industrial designers on a daily basis. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked to create the impossible or, even more maddeningly, make a change for change's sake. I even had one designer tell me that he doesn't let technology dictate his designs. Sometimes I wonder if they remember what product, platform, or (in the case of SWTOR) license they work on. The customers expect a certain look. Star Wars blasters go "pew pew" and shoot straight bolts. End of story. Rockets and darts are OK, too. I'll even give Grav Round a pass because of its description (even though I'd still prefer if it didn't look and sound like gas escaping). But, for the love for all that is Star Wars, please, designers, keep in mind we're shooting blasters and not casting wizard spells!
  18. This worked for me when I got stuck on this Heroic mission. I abandoned the mission, disabled auto-loot, retook mission, then got the mission item on the first Commander kill.
  19. And apparently briefing yourself on the whole issue is just as scary for you. In all seriousness, I appreciate the follow-up. The bottom line is Treek appears to have stat issues for some and definitely has influence issues post 4.0. We can debate how we acquired Treek in the past, but that's, well, in the past.
  20. And we're all very proud for you, your business acumen, and your ability to fixate on one specific point of a deeper issue.
  21. I want to love my Commando. I really do. Commandos should be all about hitting hard. I put up with Grav Round because it's useful, but it looks and sounds like the gun is passing gas. I just hit 58 and my Full Auto became Boltstorm. Whiskey...Tango...Foxtrot. I use a pink/red crystal for that Star Wars blaster bolt look, but now my gun is farting on enemies and then showering them with pink bubbles. It's...just so anti-climatic. Why don't I just throw flowers on them and let them peacefully die of cuteness? As for switching to Bounty Hunter, maybe some day. I'm a PvE player, so it's about the story and not just the mechanics. Still, though, I now know first hand what everyone else has been complaining about. The cuteness of my Commando just...hurts.
