  1. Everything you noted has no bearing in game, as the rest above me have noted. The plus side of Legacy is the fact that many things are shared. Among them are: Character Perks. Each area has it's own bonus. Advancement: Bonuses to XP based on mission type, Warzone, Exploration, Space Combat, Class mission, and General. Companion: Bonus to skills, affection, or special companion access. Travel: Special advanced access to quick travel abilities or reduction in cooldown timers for such. Convenience: In-the-field deployable droids for mail, vendor, or re-specialization. Galactic Reputation: Reputation with various factions within the game. Each rank corresponds with some sort of reward that each faction offers (usually some sort of gear). This reputation is shared across all your legacy, so earning reputation for your Imperial Agent carries over to your Republic Trooper (Some factions are named differently due to faction allegiance, but are effectively the same organization and are treated as such) Global Unlocks. The best of the groups, in my opinion. Each of the Classes has a breakdown of nifty and not so nifty things for attaining or purchasing certain things during your adventures. Each class has a class emote you unlock after you finish Chapter 2 for that class. Then the more important are the four class buffs (each one corresponds to the other faction. ex. Jedi Knight = Sith Warrior). This is also unlocked at the end of Chapter 2. Then there is the Heroic Ability. These correspond to each of the eight classes. They can only be used when you are using your Heroic Moment and can be quite devastating and helpful in a key fight. From there you have five companion slots. This is also shared across your legacy. Your healer for your Jedi Consular is the same as the healer for your Bounty Hunter when the reward is gained. Each reward is tied to the type of companion it is, mDPS, rDPS, mTank, rTank, and Healer. You also get a bonus ten points to your Presence, increase of 12 seconds on your Heroic Moment, and one minute cooldown reduction for the same. Species: Each time you get a specific species to level 50 you unlock that species for ALL classes. Human, since they already are available to all, earn you a bonus of 100 to your Presence. Other: My favorite area. Alignment: Receive a bonus ability when you max your alignment, Dark or Light to all your Legacy. Ship Unlocks: Unlocks for repair droid, mail box, target dummies, GTN kiosk, guild bank. Valor: Earned in Warzones. PvP-centric hand to hand melee abilities such as punch, jab, uppercut, and bash. Convenience: Travel cooldown reductions for Fleet pass, quick travel, Priority Transport, and jet packing. Social: Social emotes. Companion: Unlock companions that you have attained for one of your characters for ALL of your Legacy. Lastly you have your Achievements. There is a laundry list of things for that. It's best just to get in there and explore, or just look at it when you attain something. It should be noted that you can earn Cartel Coins for completing certain achievements.
  2. He is basically just an extra to do just that, run missions for you. You can get a ship vendor/repair droid that sells mods for him that you can slot that will give you mods for missions. HERE is a list of them. Quinn: Ok, he has quite the stick up his butt which makes him annoying (something that most of the healers share: annoying personalities), but he is also quite adept at healing, as long as you spec him for such. Make sure you have the proper skills set (AND ENABLED) and he will do just as well as any healing companion to keep you up and running. Now many people argue for the use of DPS vs. Healer for your companion when you are a Tank. It all depends on your point of view. Tanks are intended to take damage and deal just enough damage to keep the target's attention. So for me, that means I need a healer to make sure I'm still around long enough to deal that damage. The other side of the coin is that the Tank keeps the attention, while the DPS kills the opponent. While I can see it as valid, in my experience, this philosophy falls apart when taking on opponents that are over my character's level. Staying power is what has demonstrated to be superior for me. Again, this is not something I've scientifically tested and as I am inclined to this philosophy, so are the DPS to theirs. Unless someone shows their work, go with what feels right to you. We all subconsciously sabotage what we feel is not the "superior" solution. We may not spec their gear out as well as we would for our preference. We may not ensure that the proper abilities are selected and deselected to ensure optimal performance. Whatever. There are many ways we can do this, so all I can say is do what feels right for you. This is just my two cents.
  3. Yea, I'm sure after spending $300 million plus on a game you just let it die. The "deal" you think will fall apart will not indeed do so. The contract, if I recall correctly, is a ten year contract. So for ten years they are contractually required to produce. Any default, no matter how bad, will cost the offending partner millions, if not hundreds of millions. So it is in both parties best interest that they cooperate and produce quality material. Even assuming that it was a short term contract, EA would never shoot their own reputation in the foot with other big companies (Disney could ensure that they get buried) by intentionally blowing a contract. You do that in business, and you don't get other contracts with other companies. When you do, they might just do the same to you, expecting that you will to them. As for the "skeleton crew" I seem to recall that when they shut SWG down there were over 300. There are just as many working SWTOR currently, maybe short of 400, so it's not that different given that this is still being actively produced and supported. And honestly, after NGE, SWG sucked. So their work wasn't innovative nor quality. Actually, most of it was a joke.
  4. I would say that Disney cancelled the show since the Star Wars Website said that Disney cancelled the show. If you go to YouTube you can even find the interview with Dave Feloni also stating that Disney cancelled the show, I don't find any ambiguity here.
  5. They already said, no chat bubbles. The coding already causes lag due to the Chat window, if we had bubbles, they would never be able to put more than 10 people on the Fleet station.
  6. We have portable trainers, portable mail droids, repair droids, vendors, healers, so why not a Cargo Pod Drop? Use the same animation for the Cartel Pack deployment, but it would be a 1 minute access to your Cargo. For a few credits/CC more, you can get Guild Bank access. It's a thought.
  7. You do that, 'cuz the last person posted 5 minutes before you did. Good job!
  8. Huh? That makes about as much sense as flossing a Pit Bull's teeth with rotten eggs.
  9. Doing a Side-by-side, I don't see a problem. Ok, it seems the embroidery is a bit larger on the SWTOR version.
  10. ... when you look at the top of a cell phone tower looking for an MCR-99 Reconnaissance Droid. ... when you slip class catch phrases into everyday conversation. "It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am." ... when you look for the auto run key while driving your car. ... when you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of a raid/op/wz and you try to Force Pull the empty soda bottle in the garbage across the room. ... when you wake up and call for Vette to bring you some water. ... when you are in traffic and try to use Overload to clear a path. ... when you want to Force Choke that guest who constantly calls to you from across the restaurant while your taking an order from your other guests for more of whatever you just asked them than they didn't want. (whew. My English teacher would be mad at me for that MASSIVE run-on sentence. Can you tell where I work? ) ... when you pull your head back thinking you will scroll out for a better view of the situation. ... when you wish you had a Collections window to open so you didn't have to drive all the way back home to get something you forgot to take with you. ... you're at the mall and have to get to the store that is directly beneath you, but the stairs and elevators are on the other side, you consider jumping since it will only be about 10%-20% fall damage. Yea. I did, too. Boys. embarrassed to say that I do.... *grumble* Plus, something about it reminds me of " "
  11. Well I'm sure they don't want to alienate people with older rigs. I'm sure when you log on, there is some sort of recording of your rig specs so that they can keep a log of what the average tech level of their players are. Don't want to be an elitist snob about a great game. It's bad enough that to get this game running partially smoothly, you need a higher end rig.
  12. It has been the same engine they launched in 2003 - Trinity. Carbon was an add-on that they added later with "Incarna", but was not some sort of engine swap out. There is no game that I can recall that has done an engine swap out, post launch. But to that point, you have to look at where we came from before you can judge what is now. Remember, it's only been 2 years and the graphics are cutting edge for a game like this. There is a reason your pilots don't interact on EVE. It's TOO complicated. The game would be half a terabyte if they tried now. So you really can't say that they have an edge, there has to be apple and oranges. We will see when Galactic Starfighter comes out. As for pics from launch of this game until now (I tried to recreate each scene), here are some of mine. Female Chiss - Character selection Male Jedi - Character creation Female Jedi - Jedi Temple, Tython Edit: Made a quickie collage of EVE graphics. Oldest from the upper left to the most recent in the lower right.
  13. I always love doing these. It's like correcting my kids homework. If you want SWG, go HERE. You want to play SWTOR, stick around, but understand this will NEVER be a sandbox game. Get it out of your head. If you don't "unlearn what you have learned", you will just have a miserable time. While there are some finer points that need some polish, threads like this serve nothing as the Devs will not read them. They are pretty much locked from commenting on these so to post them is just beyond pointless. I know if I'm not allowed to comment on a subject, I woun't even read it. I don't want to upset myself without an outlet. I'm going to assume, for sake of argument that you have no idea how to submit your ideas or discontent to companies. So let's look at how to make this a constructive post: Rule #1: This is the time of the interwebs. You are probably not the first person to think it, so check the net. Google search, Bing it, how ever you serf, look for your problem. Here is what I did with Google and the search engine of these forums: Google - PC Gamer 2011 G4 2011, SWTOR Strategies 2012 SWTOR Fansite 2013 Forum Search: Well I'll just give you the LINK. 37 when I pulled it. Rule #2: Learn about the history of the game. Look into all the fun drama that has happened over the last 5+ years and see what has happened and what changes occurred that will affect your discussion. Rule #3: Write your post. This seems like a duh, but it needs explanation. You don't write it on the forums, use whatever word processing program you have. If you don't have one, use the General Forum, but be prepared to copy/paste to the forum you decide it belongs (see Rule #5). Here is were you rough out your post, read, correct, re-read, etc., that you learned in English class in high school. Remember when you post, BE RESPECTFUL. Don't come off ham fisted like the OP. It's an auto-ignore and you just wasted your time writing it. Rule #4: Final draft and Title! Here is where the polish comes and you want to make sure that you aren't repetitive or disrespectful. At this point, you want a simple, concise, title. You should be intimately familiar with your piece, so this should be simple. BUT, make sure you are not accusatory, inflammatory, or just plain trollish. Example, Title SHOULD have been: As an avid RPer, some things I'd like to see. Of course I'm assuming the main text would be rewritten, I'll post at the end what it should have looked like. This damn thing is already TOO long. Rule #5: Find the proper forum for your post. For example, this is a suggestion and belongs in the SUGGESTION BOX forum. Rule #6: LAST CHANCE! Do you REALLY need to hit [submit Reply]?! This by far is where 90% of my posts die. I get to the point and say, "Meh. It's been said." or "Damn, what the hell did I smoke?!" This is the last chance to avoid looking like an idiot, a troll, a hater, a defender, a... well you get it. You will be labeled once you hit that. Like it or not. So take the time to say to yourself, "Do I want people thinking of me like this?" To many times people's mouths are in motion before their brains are engaged. Forums let you get your brain engaged before the end. Use that time. Rewrite:
  14. Actually, it IS canon. Far more so than any book, comic, or other media (other than the movies). Sorry to disappoint. Eh, cut him some slack. He means they own the rights to the IP of Spider-man in film.
  15. No, it doesn't. I tried this at 4:08am and it didn't work. Not much traffic on now.
  16. Of course not. That would be like saying that Lightsabers should only be used by Jedi and Sith.
  17. I am well familiar with the practice, so I want to ask where exactly does this happen? I mean I know it HAS happened, but it has been corrected as it was a glitch. The coding for this is incredibly complex and has created a multitude of unforeseen problems in EVERY aspect of the game. Sue isn't the only one that needs to answer, I'd like to know what enemy has the ability to attack without line of sight where the player cannot. Now please do not mistake an attack that happens while exposed then retreats behind cover and the attack animation still generates. So it has to fit that one condition: Player has no line of sight and cannot attack but the enemy can.
  18. It's so sad that this is true. The big question is are we the plague or the pesticide? You know what GEORGE said about that. No, they will comment with some outlandish statement of pseudo-intellectual drivel that will invariably suck someone in.
  19. Thank you for Visas Marr's veil. I hated having to design looks according to the predetermined looks of the Miraluka. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Thank You, Thak you, thank you, thank you...
  20. I found EA's Official Video Response to this! . (jk, not an official response)
  21. Am I the only person who finds this post ironic?
