  1. Thank you to everyone for all the helpful replies. Sounds like we should be OK to duo up to around level 40ish then, which is ideal (Kuat as an exception). Particularly if we wait until we are both +1 or +2 levels above the content. Our existing alts can be used to keep armour and weapons updated (we have between us, cybertech, artifice, armstech and biotech all at or around 400). So, off to hammer station this evening. Cheers
  2. I did a quick search on the forums, but the last thread I found on this topic was from 2012, so I thought I would ask the question again to see if anything has changed since then. A friend and I are returning to swtor and have gone on the republic side this time (we previously had a few 50 imps) to do the levelling experience again and see what things are like on the other side. During our last time here we basically skipped past the flashpoints and levelled through planetary quests. This time we want to focus on flashpoints and PvP. What is the general opinion on running flashpoints as a duo? How far can we go before that becomes non-viable? For info I will be running a healer specced commando and my friend will be running a tank specced shadow.
  3. 1) Then you're going to get a serious beating from pretty much anyone who has their CD's available, 2) Really? Is this still going on? OPs and Scoundrel where having these complaints levelled at them since the initial launch.
  4. Yeh that was a big hit when I first saw it (feeling old now as that was original SWG days, pre-CU). I suspect he had the help of the devs for the Mando armour and jetpack as if I recall correctly you could only get those items in game by running a hard 'dungeon' (as much as SWG had those) on Endor that was full of battle droids - and then it was a case of needing to being a non-combat specced guy along to craft an item that required rare drops etc etc and you could only craft one piece at a time.
  5. Wait - the binocular mission awards a canister? Damn, I have been doing this all week and never checked, I just assumed us plebs doing the standard dailies weren't given canisters. I'll have to log some bug tickets...
  6. Pretty much the same as the others here - burned out on elves and dwarfs, wanted something techy+sci-fi. Plus, you know, lightsabers.. Tried STO, which I find fun, but only now and then. Tried EvE online, which is jaw-dropping in it's enormity (plus sandbox, oh god I love sandbox). However as a solo player (2 kids+full-time job means unpredictable times for getting online) you don't get chance to experience a lot of the game + effin vertical learning curve. Tried WoW. Enjoyed vanilla, but then, meh. Also this biases me against other elf/dwarf/orc type games Tried CoH, but it's not there no more. Sooo...SWTOR it is. Finally I seem to be one of the atypical RPG gamers that actually prefer the levelling experience to the end-game - and for that side of things SWTOR leads the pack hands-down. Simply the best levelling experience of any MMO (for em at least) so it plays to my altitis. The whole bolster side of things I thought would lead to bad experiences levelling up and PvPing, but I actually find that I quite enjoy it (arena/deathmatches aside).
  7. ah ok - that certainly renders the point moot.
  8. I'm currenlty shield tech but am looking to try other specs to see what suits me best - play roughly 80% PvP and 20% PvE. I was looking at the advanced prototype skill tree for the powertech, and I can't determine exactly what is meant by the description of the skill "Kolto Vents" (tier 5). The description I read on torhead is: "when you vent heat, you regen 7% of your health over 10 seconds". What I can't decide is if that is triggered only when you use the BH ability "Vent Heat", or if it triggers whenever you vent heat - for example if you specced "Prototype Cylinder Ventilation" will a proc of that also proc "Kolto Vents"? I can't imagine this being the case, otherwise one would be constantly regaining health, but can someone with that spec confirm? Cheers
  9. I set the camera to max zoom in the preferences, which zooms out far enough for my needs. Took me a while to find it though. However the camera view not resetting when it's pulled closer to you by terrain limitations is extremely annoying (Huttball I'm looking at you) and that should make it's way onto an interface improvement list.
  10. I'm beginning to think that this is actually the case..... :-/
  11. How is it that during a match I personally planted the bomb on two doors and managed to interrupt several attempted plants when we were on defence, yet in the scoreboard at the end the points for objectives I get is....0 herpderp?
  12. I am clearly not L2Ping then as I recently got grapple on my powertech alt, and have found I have about a 30% success rate getting it to work. Occasionally I will fire it off just after someone has stunned the target (filling their resolve bar), so no grapples for you..... ...but most often I will get a target in range, fire the grapple, the animation will start but then......just....nothing. Like casting a fishing rod and not catching anything. This almost always happens when they are on a different level to me or run onto the air jets just as I grapple them...very frustrating as I end up standing there like a muppet waiting for my victim to be reeled in to me for a quick thumping but instead I am left standing there with an arm extended whilst the rest of his team come over to give me their personal greeting.
