  1. temporary solution... send him to "crafting missions" and he will be absent for some time send him on a purple schematics for longer duration of peace and quiet!
  2. Finally I am not embarrassed anymore for having 83, 32, 20, 14 in WoW after 4 years!! Good to know casual player (or even if you want to call them zombies) exist that enjoy the "Ride" not only the "destination". I sometimes skip mobs but that's because I don't want to get too much XP! Besides to do the objective it is not always good to engage in full scale war with everything in your path! I also find it very very hard to skip mission briefings! Love them!
  3. Good suggestion; However (I have seen this before) some people might object it for not being "realistic" (as far as the fiction goes ) and they are not that far off! When you are on your ship, you are in "space" near a planet or space station. Now that means that whatever mail network (which is like magic itself!!) system that connects "few" mailboxes on each station/planet, is not going to be connected to your ship. My suggestion in light of this argument is that the mail box on the ship be different from the regular ones, such that it receives and sends on schedule intervals. Like every 10 min or 15 minutes you ship is visited by a mail-droid and the transactions happen. We have QT in this game but this is STAR WARS, not Star Trek and no one can "beam" anything, anywhere! So I still haven't figured out how our items travel that fast on the mail network!! (extra suggestion: mail box on the ship can be manually synced with network with a CD) I think the periodic nature of the above suggestion, will make it less heavy on the servers. (note that it basically means adding N mail boxes, where N is the number of players on a server/on the ship.) That was just a suggestion Towards making the game more convenient, but not "too" convenient
  4. Well, if high schools don't assign homework anymore or you are just doing fine in your learning process, yeah, it's not bad at all! Otherwise, think twice about the time you spent and what you gain!
  5. Do you think BioWare (or EA) could release the age statistics if they were asked? (well.. asked by us ) That would be a "case" study in its fullest extend and most relevant to this game
  6. I am 30 and so far I am thinking to myself "yay! I can be a kid again!", which is quite true given the distribution of ages here ( I, soon will be subject to that sarcasm as well... I know ) I play 3-4 hours after work each day. Check my trades in the morning and send my crew on mission in the morning as well (takes 10-15 minutes). On weekends, it would be like 10 hrs a day if I am not hanging out with friends or doing house keeping
  7. It's the end of your 30 days "free" subscription to the game. After this point, only those who pay the monthly subscription fee can play.
  8. I think they have to have a CAP on their random generations to grant you schematics, because based on the definition of RE, the "skill" you acquire through it does the job! Now if it is "random" with no memory, then it is like the old "assembling a 747 in a junk yard by a tornado passing through it" case. I think they should add a memory feature (like color code of your schematics in granting skill points), like widening the random "range" each time you do it, so at worst, you get it after, say, 20 times. This "cap" could also be a function of your current skill level. But I think "random with no memory" (history independent random generation, like flipping a coin) is not consistent with the idea of "learning" through the process. That only means that the "stupidity" of the toon in learning the schematics, is randomly changing! From 0 to 100%!! So your toon is sometimes super smart, and then sometimes super dumb! In reality, there is a base "average" smartness present in all of us, it is never "zero"!. That translates to the CAP I mentioned before. But I understand that holding the history (even in form of a real number) for all the schematics for all the people could be an extra demand on memory and book keeping for the servers and they probably went for the "Easy" solution of full randomness. (as an example for history dependent random effect, you can look at the skill points you get from a green, yellow and orange schematic. The orange has a very wide range of success, so it almost always grants you points, yellow has narrower and green has a narrow range (which if the randoms number falls in, you get the point), so the similar system is already implemented and they just need to extend it to RE part.) Sorry for the long post!
  9. Hi, I was interested in moving cache folder/files to a Ramdrive, but, (this sounds silly) could be more specific of how to tell it to look there? Add that folder to PATH? (environmental variable thingy) And also I cound one file (diskcachearea) but could not find the other one. Thanks for the tip and appreciate the help.
  10. I had a suggestion, may be a very far away one though! Since this is going to be STAR WARS, how about putting some Hutts on Nar Shadda (and Tatooine) for the purpose of "lending people money". It could go like a mission thing, you go there, talk to them (interact) and ask for a certain amount of money. They will (based your "worth" of equipment as collateral) give you an interest rate and a due date. If you don't pay by that due date, then they will send a bounty hunter after you! The PVP implications are very complex (like the same Hutt gives "non asking for money people" the mission to hunt down the person who owes them and get the money. For the start, it could be an NPC that appears in your ship and you have to fight him/her. If you win, you get another due date, but next time the NPC will be higher in level and skills. THis system can also trigger events like "taking your ship as payment" and initiating a new chain of missions to get it back! Well, that is just an idea and I thought this was the place to express it. So far, all the bugs and problems aside, I like the game and I am going to support it and give the developer team a fighting chance to make it better.
  11. Well, not only it was not in the attachment but the text said that I have lost my deposit! May be there is a CD on trades! So if you cancel before that time, they take your deposit. Haven't been brave enough to try it again (but might do that with a small amount tonight). But if I let it "expire", then sure, the money is in the attachment.
  12. Thanks for the good guide! Just one quick note, beware of losing your deposit. Apparently your deposit is forfeit if you cancel a trade (or may be cancel it too soon). I just did that to "correct" a price and boom, lost 500 for something worth 400!!
  13. Thanks for the heads up! And I like your line about debugging... truly experienced that!!
  14. Hi, I have been reading threads for several days trying to see if someone already posted something about the following problems, but that is a time consuming job (took almost all my breaks at work!) So 1- Could we please have a "search" option for threads or thread subjects? Or if such feature already exists, could someone be kind enough to direct me to it? 2- Is it just me or other players (Sith Sorcerers for one, since I have only tried that one so far) face the same "not trainable" skills in Artifice that they are eligible (both skill and level wise)? I have already sent a ticket about this but haven't heard anything back. The main issue is with making MODs. I have all the requirements, but it says "you don't have the appropriate skill". If it does not belong to Artifice, then why is it trained by that guy? Sorry in advance if this was a duplicate of another post but I seriously gave up reading all of them!! (you can Google it, I know, but that gives you more "unrelated" results than a simple forum search would.) Thank you
  15. I thought that was my problem only! Yeah, playing space stuff with a regular Y-axis (not inverted) is counter intuitively "counter intuitive"! I don't know why that option does not affect space combat.
