As we move into June, looking back at the busy month of May (finals, graduations, training, etc) Penumbral not only kept up its weekly organized RP but took it to the next level. That's right, not only to assist with character development but how to generate RP stories and take it from the forums and into the game; including how to Game Master with the D20 system and use immersive story telling. This month we completed training and expanded our Game Master ranks of four new Game Masters who can not only RP but write an RP outline and lead it in game. These aren't officers or senior guild member but regular members who can have the opportunity to explore Star Wars RP as what we in Penumbral believe it is meant to be. Penumbral is a guild originated from another guild, three years ago, whose dogma and roleplaying were set firmly in the premise of being a fanatical Imperial splinter group loyal to the Empire and the Sith. We had some great roleplaying, but it was limiting in what I could do as its RP officer. When I helped found Penumbral, one of our priorities wasn't just to keep delivering high quality roleplaying for our membership but expand on it. We want to roleplay, but we don't want to roleplay just Dark Side or Imperial and their allies. We want to roleplay with EVERYBODY. The theory was when you get enough characters together from differing backgrounds you can take the RP experience to another level. The theory was right! Officially neutral Penumbral has taken the popular stance among fans that neither the Dark Side or Light Side is the answer - and that neither the Republic or Empire are all they say there's cracked up to be. Playing the long game in a fleet that never stops moving - we are a home for just about everybody to come and park their RP character and experience exciting roleplay that you don't normally find in other places. The focus on Penumbral is community and working together. Focusing on every aspect of the game we work for the benefit of our community and the members it consists of in order for a more engaging and frankly fun time playing this game. Event organization and keeping up activity are central to this and that is where our guild shines.

Our guild remains consistent, every week putting out organized RP for our members. Last night was Friday, which has been one of our biggest nights for years. 20+ RPers turnout at 9PM EST on our guildship and assemble in the briefing room. From there our guild's Dungeon Masters and Story Writers present a briefing in character as to what the main goal is - think Star Wars and the original trilogy. When you have Leia and other Rebel leaders telling the troops whats up and what they need to do, that kind of thing. 20+ RPers, consistently, then our broken into four teams each either their individual mission objective - all working towards a larger goal. Using the D20 system they will encounter anything from combat to diplomacy to stealthy slicing - Penumbral does it all. In addition we have what you might call roleplaying sects (we call them lore departments). Some are for combat, others for exploring the galaxy for ancient artifacts, one is for secret agent spy roleplaying, and the list goes on. Each of these lore departments are active and regularly put out their own missions. All of our events go by EST. Friday evening and Saturday evening are our primary RP nights. PvP is held Sun and Thursday evening with PvE operations held on Tuesday and an early AM raid team for raiders who stay up late.

Images speak louder than words. 30+ member guild RP from last night's weekly guild RP Every single player in that picture is an active guild RPer, and that was just the first RP ops group we had last night. We have a wonderful RP team that steps up to the plate every week and make in organized guild roleplaying events with storylines with multiple endings, that our members decide on through their actions. We use a /roll 20 system for determining the success of actions during an RP. Be it a 2 on 1 fight for your life gladiator combat RP (last week) or taking part in a Mission Impossible group spy mission as last night was. Every week, organized RP in addition to the roleplaying you can find in our guild daily and nightly. Saturdays will soon see the return of the Grotto, a server social event that our guild will host on a weekly basis. This guild has been my home for many years, ever since its creation. It has an accomplished PvE progression team and excellent PvP core that is right now helping any member interested in getting geared for the upcoming season. There are seven days in a week, six out of those seven something is always planned and organized. Be it one of the two night for organized raiding, two of the night of organized PvP with guild premades, or our two RP nights a week (Friday and Saturday). I think this organization and constant promotion of daily events is Penumbral's biggest draw no matter what kind of SWTOR game you like to play (PvE, PvP, or RP).

I think the number one joy, that I take away from our community is the activity. I have been in so many guilds where finding regular activity and fellow members to interact with is something akin to pulling teeth. A guild can have the most organized PvP, PvE, RP, forum games, weekly events, or whatever selling point they choose. Last night tanked our second raid group for some PvE in Ravagers and then first boss in Temple. Afterward I jumped a smaller group to help a few guildies out in some HM FPs, and then jumped to some RP after that with still other guildies. Typical night is 30 members online at prime time. Always something to do and always friendly faces with ya. That's our community, that's Penumbral.

Lot of comments on this thread, on every guild's thread, relate to the game and what a player's respective guild offers or promotes. But here's the thing about our guild Penumbral, it isn't just a guild but a community. Games come and games go, but the friends you make and the bonds formed will always remain. Whether continuing when the time for our community to seek other MMOs or in the golden memories of the times we shared. If only every guild could be so lucky, we of Penumbral are. Yes, Penumbral has a developed and mature PvP dept. We have both a progressive and more standard PvE operation groups (two tiered). Most significant our RP department is the most active on the server and maybe even in all of SWTOR. The community though, that's where our guild shines brightest.

Penumbral's RP is ongoing, it doesn't stop. Every Friday we have our big guild "meta" RPs that officially move our guild story forward but we also have official Penumbral RP channels via SWTOR chatbox and RP threads on our Enjin forums. So much is happening with so many active RPers that for big moments we need to keep the rest of our organization members aware of what is happening. Just tonight there was very personal and in depth RP happening on one end of our 91% unlocked guild ship while at the other part myself and two others were relaxing and watching our own personal movie unfold, writing out what was happening in each scene. It was very fun and became very crazy very quickly. Meanwhile at the same time we had our PvP groups out there in warzones and members helping each other with PvE, keeping gankers off our back. This is the exact kind of atmosphere and compassion our guild strives for.

It's all about community with Penumbral - ALL about community. Whether it's PvP, PvE, or maintaining our reputation as the best RP guild on the server, every member can carve out their own niche and find their own place in this diverse community.

A lot of our members have been enjoying the preorder early access to Patch 3.0 Shadow of Revan, and those who haven't can hardly wait. Already operation groups are being worked out in preparation for increased raiding in the coming craziness that this expansion will provide. Another great part of Penumnbral is how active our roleplaying department is. Not only do we host two guild RP events every week but we also created sub departments in our RP lore that specialize in certain fields. For example, if your character had a background in intelligence, we have a special RP group just for that. If they have a background in medicine, there is an RP group for that. A soldier? There is an RP group that specializes in those RPs, and that is just the conventional RP styles.
