  1. Honest declaration: I'm a MMORPG virgin, thus I am a PvP ignorant ... but I like to work and understand. I also like challenges, games without challenges are boring. Anyway I chose to play in a (European) PvE Server with my guild members, the good and reliable "Hydian Way" ... and I didn't take part in PvP yet; by the way I like explorations, crafting, documentation and all that, thus I am yet at lvl29. That said, the game is truly full of many great and greatest aspects; the game has a lot of greatness in itself! Or am I wrong? That said, I believe that the game will be almost complete in more than two or three years; after that next changes/versions may ruin the peak experience... A bold statement? See, they didn't include yet Pazaak, Swoop Races, Dejaryk and Sabbacc in order to check the balance of the game economy!! That's my guess of course. All that said, I chose this very interesting thread in order to communicate with PvPers; the PvP aspect is/will be -of course- the greatest challenge in any healthy MMORPG. There are two (in-game) benefits from PvP experience, the items/stats probably gained and the increase of the player's mind performance - under the strict assumption of course that he/she is smart and some kind of learner! Gifted also!... Thus my first question is the following; isn't some contradiction between the first kind of profits (superior items/stats) and the quality of the PvP experience, the adventure and the challenge?!? Some contradiction; no more no less, just this! Having in mind that the (of course very interesting OP) may be somehow self-contradictory, I have to agree that (speaking about max level PvPers) the too superior items and the (permanent) too superior stats compromise the quality of the PvP experience ... and this leads to a boring game for both groups, the giving and the receiving end that is... Rewards, superior items and superior stats are necessary of course, rewards are always necessary and the lack of rewards (and stats' changes) leads to a "flat" experience... That said, I believe that BioWare should pay a lot of attention in order to keep these rewards at bay, that is to minimize/check the impact of these rewards regarding PvP... Why? Because the creation of a state of extreme probabilities -regarding the outcome of a PvP/RvR fight- obviously compromises the PvP experience AND eventually the game itself... Edit: all that said, I would urge the writer of the Opening Post to write down (if possible) his theory regarding PvP, based on his experiences with different MMORPG/MMO games. I doubt he can afford the necessary time and effort but what a heck, I have to ask an experienced and opinionated fellow!... For starters, what is this odd thing: kinetic damage, "elemental" damage?!? Then what are the mathematics (probabilities) of the impact of the players' stats and the delivered damage, what are the mathematics of the interaction of two PvPers fighting in a duel duel or so? I wonder about the mathematics of the abilities gained by my character, the inflicted damage and my character's stats etc.
  2. Nice job! However I would like to see proton torpedoes as an infinite/updated version of missiles or so...
  3. I truly like most space missions as the "Arsenar Interception" for an example ... and the incoming credits/fleet commendations! I truly hate all these XP given obligatorily after every given successful space mission!!... I do space missions for the fun and the credits, not in order to visit Nar Shaddaa been lvl25 or so... I need the credits, I don't want to play in an overpowered status though... I would like to have the option either to maximize XP and minimize credits gained or to mimimize XP and maximize the credits/commendations gained! Thus the developers can adjust -already...- three (not just two) parameters: XP gained, credits gained and fleet commendations gained; in the present version of the game that is...
  4. I'm currently playing this wonderful game in the European PvE Server "Hydian Way" as a (rocking) Gunslinger and I really fell in love with this game as (perhaps) all the players there... I explored either all or almost most of Taris (unfortunately reaching lvl26 already, the game is giving "too many" XP, particularly by means of mission rewards and space battles...) but I saw no Imperial Player (real human) there, I saw nobody such! Where are the IMPERIAL PLAYERS in Taris, where is their region of PvE operations?!? Are the two regions of operations disconnected or what? Consequently is there any possibility for (optional) PvP in this Planet and ... where/whren?!? What about the Taris PvP options in PvP Servers? Edit: there is a Jedi Consular mission (in Taris) named "The Junction"... However (to my best knowledge) no JC has ever met players of the opposite faction in Taris... What about the other worlds, Ilum and Quesh aside?
  5. Thanks a lot! I wish you Happy New Year! Is the meaning of the term "sweep over ... up to 4 different targets" something like "Drag and Hold/Hold and Drag" with the mouse or what?
  6. This is about the targeting and firing of the missile volleys: what's about the targeting and what about right-clicking and firing? What is the rate of firing of missiles? How could you see the depletion of these missiles? Is there any "Sticky Thread" that addresses these questions? Happy New Year!!
  7. Daniel Erickson had explicitly addressed these questions in the Developer Tracker of the Old Forum and he had given detailed answers; however I can't remember the exact numbers he had mentioned. Does anyone remember these figures? That's the second question of mine; the first question is about the starting point of Chapter 1: does it begin just after the acquisition of the Character's Spaceship?
  8. DE had given a pretty detailed answer/description of the aforementioned questions of mine regarding all three Chapters in the Dev Tracker Section of the Old Forum but... Anyway I forgot some specific numbers (regarding relative game-play hours or so) and the fact regarding the starting point of Chapter 1... Does anyone possess a much better memory than mine?
  9. Does Chapter 1 begin when you do acquire your Starship? What is its duration with respect to the same players' SW:KotOR and SW:KotOR2;TSL completion-time intervals?!? I have to admit that the Smuggler's Class game experience until the reacquisition of the XS Light Freighter was lovely and ... lengthy enough! But when Chapter 1 begins and what's its (relative) duration? Edit: going story-wise and lore-wise, I didn't get it; how did my Captain made possession of the XS Freighter in the first place?!?
  10. The problem/bug had been already fixed! I'm always typing in English when I do write in SW:TOR; however I often commit spelling etc mistakes... Edit: what happened to my favorite "LemonChiffon" color, my ... trademark in the SW:TOR forum?!?
  11. I have to repeat what happened yesterday: In the upper left area of the screen there exists -as an option- a box where the player can type sentences and thus he/she can communicate with other players. Sentences by other players appear also there and this is the way of the written communication between players. Well, in the last session of mine everything started smoothly; however after a few hours of gameplay I realized I wasn't able to type sentences in the aforementioned box: instead of every letter, a rectangular simple picture appeared though this wasn't the case of the question mark! Therefore I wasn't able to communicate with other players in order to group etc. I'll pay afterwards a visit to the game and I'll come back if the problem persists...
  12. The patches may be good and best but today I experienced a typing problem. I could type marks like ? normally but when I was typing letters, I watched similar rectangular pictures instead of the letters... This function (a new one; even today I started by typing normally) disrupts communications severely...
  13. Thank you very much! I was trying to find out what is happening by ... left-click or so; my bad of course.
  14. Dear Developers, I fully agree with the absolutely plausible Edington's suggestion.
  15. Corso Riggs fights just fine, that's true! However I would like to control the moment and the circumstances of his "Harpoon-pull" ability, his movement etc. OK, I control my movement instead of his but not his "Pull" ability... Merry Christmas and many thanks!
  16. Thank you very much! I wish you Merry Christmas!
  17. The title speaks for itself: how could I (more or less) direct my Corso's actions during fighting? At least during PvE that is.
  18. Bioware offers -by means of the Z button- the option to have continuously equipped the player's weapons but not to show it unless the player is fighting! Otherwise my Smuggler's guns are "into his pants." Well, I'd like to have the same option regarding the recently obtained Headgear; otherwise my Character's face is hardly visible during conversations and I hate to intervene before -and after...- every conversation in the Character's sheet... Any hint please? By the way, I wish you merry Christmas!!
  19. There isn't any need for more than thirty planets/worlds even beyond 2021! My point is that more than thirty fully developed worlds would be pointless, not so many potential customers to be attracted by the great number of different worlds but the cost of development of so many worlds (intriguing storylines etc) goes then to the sky! However I would like to see at least two Mandalorian worlds (including the greatest jungle world of Dxun plus its big brother, the intriguing Onderon) plus some water worlds (Rakata Prime anyone?) and of course some jungle worlds, particularly Yavin IV and/or Endor... Kashyyyk (especially if paired somehow with the Trandoshans' world) could be a great addition also Edit: however neither some Bounty Hunter nor any Imperial Agent did answer my speculation about the Mandalorians' presence in Hutta.
  20. I ... "anticipate" that there isn't any Mandalorian World at launch: neither Mandalore nor Geonosis or Dxun... That's a pity of course and you have also to take into consideration that the Hutts do have their World, in fact their own homeworld! Take also into consideration that Nar Shaddaa is a partly Exchange-partly Hutts' famous world... Can at least we consider -on a SW:TOR storyline basis- that Hutta is 10-20% a Mandalorian world?!?
  21. That is to be expected for Alexander Freed, the very writer of SW:TOR;BotE is the writer of this Class' storyline; however this isn't any sort of excuse for the allegedly shallow and boring (according Smoda's first personal impressions of course) Trooper's storyline... Smoda's appraisal (under the condition that it is justified) ignites some concerns of mine regarding ... some correlation of the Trooper's handling with some shortsighted target marketing from the part of BioWare: that is did they create the Trooper Class just for the naive and trigger happy MMORPG-PvPers, some so-to-speak blockheads? It's a possibility but Pemmin's remark suggests something quite different ... and I hope that BioWare realized that the Trooper's storyline has to counter the relatively lacking magic of a well-known traditional/conventional Class/Character embed into the SW Galaxy... From my point of view the creation of the storyline of the non-Force-User Class of Troopers should be a great challenge, their "disadvantage"/handicap being a great opportunity for an extremely impressive storyline: a Republic Trooper defending a Republic in turmoil against an Empire lead by Force Adepts who follow the Dark Side!... What a plethora of horrible concerns and dilemmas, what an avalanche of temptations and opportunities for the best or the worst!! Well, I do trust (in) BioWare; after all Carth Onasi had been a convincing Trooper for starters!... However the temptation to write down a shallow storyline aiming at the blockheads and Trigger Happy PvPers is also great... What about the Bounty Hunter's story?
  22. If this approach is reliable and accurate -and I have no reasons to doubt it- then the TR storyline should be more than an engaging story... Smoda, what is your opinion about Pemmin's very remark?
  23. The title speaks for itself; I'm asking BioWare ... ... either to add -in due time, it isn't urgent nowadays- the Old Forum as a Closed/Frozen Forum/Archive within the New (soon "post-launch") Forum (just in order to pay a visit and provide links) ... ... or ... ... to inform the Community members what is the expected life-time of this very Forum...
