  1. This is what I do too. I prefer a mellower shade of lighting in my room, even.

I have a mild sensitivity to lights as well, but I usually never have a problem ever. Not like THIS, anyways.

I played Wow religiously for years, own every console ever (I am a total nerd and damned proud of it!), but I never had a game cause my head to just try exploding like this game does.

I even have my monitors brightness turned way down. Always the first thing I do when I get a new one.

  2. Hey I had lofty aspirations for this game too but I'd have to settle with quickfixes given how little confidence I have in this game's "development" team.

Implementing UI modding is gonna be hard as hell if they can eff up simple things like this so hard.

If they screw up simply opening the code up to be modded, we are in for some serious issues.

  3. I bet more people aren't. In fact, I'd bet more than most aren't.

There's one capped thread and another nearly capped thread that say otherwise. And that's just the people coming to the forums to voice their concerns over this.

With so many having legitimate issues with this change, it needs to be addressed.

Props to you if you like it or it doesn't bother you. But to sit there and say, "Well everyone I know likes it so there's nothing wrong with it at all" is simply blatant ignorance.

Go see how many people are having problems with this change, then get back to us.

And also, make sure you note that most of us are simply asking for a way to turn it off (because we are aware that there are people that like it), not remove it in it's entirety. But since it has made the game near unplayable for so many, it is an issue that needs to be addressed quickly. If they can't find a way to resolve it, then they should simply roll back the change until they can make it a workable option for everyone.

  4. Photosensitive seizure warning

A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these photosensitive epileptic seizures while watching video games.

These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects.

Immediately stop playing and consult a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Parents should watch for or ask their children about the above symptoms - children and teenagers are more likely than adults to experience these seizures.

The risk of photosensitive epileptic seizures may be reduced by taking the following precautions:

    Play in a well-lit room

Do not play if you are drowsy or fatigued

If you or any of your relatives have a history of seizures or epilepsy, consult a doctor before playing.

Pretty sure the OP said they were suffering from noticeable headaches/eyestrain/and general motion sickness/nausea.

Read a post before you reply with something entirely irrelevant to the thread.

    Thanks.

  5. yeah, personally i want them to hotfix this back to pre-patch because as of right now, i cant really log on and play. I could take any of the previous incarnations of the CD thing, but not this one.

Part of me is glad I have limited play time with work and school right now. Even though those shining moments of when I get to play currently look bleak.

    /sad panda

  6. I, as well as MANY OTHERS, LOVE the action bar new look. DONT TOUCH THEM. They all shiny and new! Adds more awesomeness to the game!!

Listen..the ones you can't use yet..have a white faded box around them...it's really really cool looking and goes with the game even more I think :)

so far..I have asked everybody in game if they like it..about 80 people now they all LOVE it and think it's cool..

sooo..I hope BW offers you guys with problems something in the middle

BUT DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT PUTTING IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS!! I JUST GOT USED TO THIS SYSTEM!! GRRRRRRRR

They need to find a middle ground.

Like make it so we can turn it off if it causes eye problems.

Good for you that you like it, but it was giving me such a bad headache I had to tell my boyfriend to stop in the middle of questing while I tried to calm the headache and eyestrain down.

There are legitimate issues for a great number of people. Ignoring that would be gross negligence on the part of BW.

  7. I would too, but that post was yesterday. If its been a few days then I'd be up in arms. I imagine today was speant brainstorming ways to fix the issue for the 4th time >.>

I have a really cool idea.

Remove it until they find a "fix" so those of us having issues can enjoy playing what we pay to play again.

OH MAH GAWD I'M A GENIUS

  8. Except didnt Joveth make a post yesterday in the version of this thread that got capped, saying they're investigating and elevating the issue? Or do you want a quote from today?

They're investigating an issue that has one thread capped and another well on its way to cap, but we still have no idea beyond that?

I'd like to know what they're thinking of doing to fix this. Or ANYTHING new tbh.

Call me crazy, but I think we pay for that.

  9. So I made a thread, knowing that the devs would close it, knowing that they'd view it, asking for an update about the cooldown issue and here's what Noviru had to say:

    Hello DarthKeredias,

We know that the latest changes to the Ability Bar is currently a very popular topic on the forum. Any updates that are posted in regards to this will be viewable in our Developer Tracker as soon as they become available.

In the meantime, please continue to use the preexisting New Ability Bar Cooldown Effect for any discussions, comments, or concerns.

    Thank you for understanding.

    That's helpful, thanks guys :/

That just means, "Keep QQ'ing in a thread we set aside for QQ'ing about this topic so we can not do anything about it better"

    ^_^

  10. It doesnt need to be super uber bright for a bunch of us. The mere rapid flashing of it does it for me.

And the fact that it's so much brighter than nearly everything around it.

I have to keep my monitors dim because of how bright things are to me and how easily that brightness can cause my eyes to hurt and make it hard for me to focus properly.

It's something I was born with. It's not going away. Normally I am fully able to adapt to make things easier for me (turning gamma way down, brightness, etcetcetc) but to compensate properly for this I'd have to make the rest of the game almost dark.

How is that fair to me? Especially when it was basically fine before. Albeit the UI in general is terrible, but seriously.

  11. I tried it out for myself after seeing this thread. Its not all that bad, it does set you back a bit trying to relearn the system and get your mind use to...well being used. I'd prefer if they didnt' "black wash" out all the buttona in order to make the GCD more visible but its workable. Infact once I got over the initial jarring experience my play experience went right back to where it was before.

Its a graphical trip up mentally since you have to start remembering your timers on your own a bit better.

People screaming chicken little need to just take a breather and guess what? Adjust yourself never get comfy like a couch potato because you never know when something might change whether intentionally or by accident. If you can't think a few steps a head then you're alwayss going to be several steps behind. If you can't be flexiable in a game or real life..you'll never catch up.

Jarring unpleasant experience at first but atleast I know what my GCD's are on now instead of simply guessing.

One of the secondary issues people are having isn't due to a learning curve. It's due to the fact that every single button on their bars flash. Even if it's totally unrelated to abilities. An ability already on a cooldown doesn't need to KEEP FLASHING AT EVERY KEYPRESS. Really? That's necessary?

They took a flashy, bright, obnoxious thing and just smashed it into every single button.

I swear I think my monitor is going to explode from it.

  12. I'll add my voice to this. I just logged on to see what the uproar is about. I played my smug for all of about 5 minutes before my head started to hurt in a way that i KNOW it was the game that caused it. (yes, i can tell what kind of headaches Im getting) I'd hate to see what my Maur would be like.

I hope they change this soon. I dont thik i could pay for a game that caused me to get headaches due to flashes.

The eyestrain headache is a very different headache than just ugh.

    At least for me.

BECAUSE IT MAKES MY EYEBALLS HURT.

So this game causes eyeball ache too then.

    Not good.

  13. This new UI change is giving me massive headaches. Since the basics of the UI are not moveable, most players have all their bars showing, and I'm willing to bet each slot has a button in it. Which now flashes. No matter what you do. Ever.

I already have some vision problems that can make it hard to focus at times. This bright, flashy, strobe-y, OMGHEADACHEINDUCING nightmare has made it so hard to focus properly I don't actually know what's going on anymore and am trying to use abilities I can't and so on and so forth.

Basically I'm an idiot when I play as of today.

Those of you that like it, or don't see an issue with it. Grats, but I think you're the minority on this one. I had a guildmate log in and 2 minutes later start swearing about this change. It's simply that bad.

I can't pop excedrin like candy to play a game, and I shouldn't have to. Especially when the launch UI wasn't this bad.

Open up the ability for users to mod the UI since BW so clearly has no idea how to make a workable one to begin with.

Side Note: Of all the MMO's I've played, this is the first one that doesn't use totally grayed out/red shaded action buttons. And I kind of want to stop playing because of it.

  14. All I have to say about Marauder currently is that I got mine to 40. And then I got fed up.

I didn't feel that my damage was scaling with the mobs I was going up against, and I'd come out of a one-on-one with a gold mob of level or lower nearly dead. Combat felt horribly sluggish and it just was too much for me finally.

I do plan on finally getting her to 50 one day, but right now I can't take much more banging my face into my desk and am playing other classes that don't seem to have so much BLAGH.

  15. After a few days of playing and the flickering problem carrying over to various toons and various planets I decided to start fiddling with my video setting.

I turned AA on High and actually turned ON vsync. The flickering is finally gone.

I run a nVidia 560Ti, so if you guys are running nVidia graphics I'd say give it ashot to see if it addresses your flickering issues too. At least until BioWare acknowledges the issue and corrects it themselves so I can turn vsync back off.

I've avoided my warrior like the plague since my original post and it's still so frustrating for me to play compared to a class like Inquisitor or Bounty Hunter. Finally logged on to her last night and was still annoyed at how sluggish it feels compared to just about every other class and that mobs are still splattering onto their backs like bugs (yet others I've asked say their Marauders Force Scream does not cause the back splattering flail).

Honestly I don't forsee my lvl 40 Marauder getting to lvl 50 any time soon, which is unfortunate because that was such a fun toon before they broke it.

I've also found that the cooldown animation is much less frustrating on my other toons. I'm just going to assume it has a lot to do with how slow the Marauder feels right now.

  16. I actually like the new cooldown effects. It lets me know when stuff like Smash or Scream "will be available on next GCD", whereas before I had to kinda squint, and do some looking around and quick head math to determine if I was going to have the Rage to cast it, what with the cost reduction proc and all. An option to switch to the one you prefer would be a nice feature.

The game is running sluggishly at times. Several people in my guild have noticed this. We're on a low population server, with pretty good computers. It all started today after the patch.

Sometimes when I am travelling, the screen flickers black. Others in guild have noticed this as well.

I do agree the new knockdown after Scream is dumb.

If I had the option to swap back there'd be no issue and -I- wouldn't be squinting with this new C/D effect. Smash is still the hardest for me of all the abilities to properly judge.

Glad to know someone else shares the new Scream knockdown sentiment. It makes me "X.X" every time I see it.

What video card are you running, because that happened to me as well and I thought I had just hit a stupid key.
