  1. Absolutely, need /roll added. Plz and thx Bioware.
  2. The Rift system posted earlier provides a good "system gear check" to determine if they can enter or not, as a random, tiered, LFD tool. No public gear score needed. This is the only "gear check" I would support for SWTOR - and one the OP was likely suggesting. If you want to get picky over who you have in your group... then don't use the "random" LFD tool period. That's what guilds/friends are for. Any conversation of gear scores from other games and why or how individuals use them is off topic imho. I highly doubt BW would introduce a public GS anyway with their cautious approach to any type of intra-group reporting thus far, and therefore likely irrelevant, especially to the OP's topic. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So back to the OP's original question... Yes, I would think BW would need to introduce a new stat to do a system side gear check on any proposed LFD tool. Otherwise it wouldn't solve many of the issues people are having with 50 chat except it being cross server.
  3. I think you're in the vast minority. BW, please close this thread.
  4. I'm not saying you can't play however you want, to each his own. Just that the developers likely won't implement such a system.
  5. By the time you go through and look at all their individual pieces and such, they'll already be in a random group. It's a nice idea, but probably not much more efficient that just spamming 50 chat for geared players. If you're concerned with grouping with scrubs, then don't use the LFD tool, and get a good guild.
  6. Same people that troll on forums, that hate the game, probably have issues "letting things go" in real life too. Just how they are.
  7. Gear Score =/= "System" Gear Check Gear score is poisonous to the community. With the Rift example, the system does a minimum check, you can either queue or not. Period. It's simply a single stat too, not an overall score people can compare.
  8. Yes, Rift did it perfectly. I object to a gear score... seriously object, but agree some sort of minimum gear "check" should be in place. Rift implemented an additional stat called "Hit" that was required to join specific levels of dungeons. Don't kill me if the numbers aren't exact, but I remember it being something like 50 hit for tier 1 dungeons, 100 hit for tier 2 dungeons, and 200 hit for raids. Not enough and you would miss on bosses causing them to enrage. Best thing was that it looked at your Hit score when queuing for dungeons with FLG. If you didn't have 100 hit, then the tier 2 dungeon was greyed out in the queue screen. Simple as that. You could get to 100 hit pretty easily from regular dungeon drops or by buying crafted gear with the stat on them, so it helped the crafting community as well. I really liked the system, and think SWTOR should and could implement something like that along with their LFG tool. For those already geared, you could add the stat to the Tionese/Columi/Rakata pieces. Then also add the stat to some new crafted gear and crafted mods as well as the daily gear you get on Ilum. Just my two cents, keep the change.
  9. I have a 50 jugg tank for pve, but am loving my power tech pvp alt. It's unfair how good it is.
  10. Probably on an extremely low drop rate for now until the game gets balanced a bit. Introducing something like that this early could be tricky. I know Rift did it early, but they were so common they were more like a purple BiS drop than a Legendary.
  11. This has been beat to death the same way console controllers vs. PC mouse and keyboard for first person shooters has. Let them think what they want, but those who know and use, keybinds ARE more efficient. Period. Don't want to use them, that's fine, but don't argue that it's the same, it isn't. Using a mouse to click any one of 48 buttons (on the current gui) without a doubt takes your eyes off the action more often than those who don't have to. It's not arguable. It also frees up your mouse cursor to do other things while in combat if needed. It's completely playable using mouse clicks, some play very well doing so. But for the masses, it's a wise decision to learn to use the keyboard regardless of the GCD's or queuing. Just look at any StarCraft 2 tournament player on youtube to see what APM's (actions per minute) can get you using a keybaord. No way can that be done with a mouse to that efficiency. I know an MMO, especially the hideously slow GCD's in swtor, isn't at that type of pace, but for tanks/healers in 16+ man raids/ops, it gets pretty fast and complicated.
  12. Oh, and add or substitute a Razer Naga if the gaming keyboard thing is not for you.
  13. I use a nostromo n52e and love it. With my left hand i can move using my thumb on the d-pad, and use keybound spells at the same time. Moving while casting is helpful. Good for PVP and PVE. You can have 3 layers of 14 keys available (stacked with phases). But if you don't have keyboard like that, you can just remap the hotkeys to your left hand on the keyboard. Since everything I need is mapped to my left hand, I can also use a mouse click to view enemy info, mark targets while tanking, renew buffs etc, without stopping the action. And I would seriously recommend looking into some sort of gaming peripheral like a Logitech G13 or Razer Nostromo if you (the OP) are short a couple digits. Takes a new way of thinking, but once used to it it's a decided advantage, even over keyboard only players. And can be helpful for you if you are disabled.
  14. It's a "role playing" game. Don't roll dark side if you don't want to be the bad guy.
  15. So do light side Jedis not kill hundreds/thousands as they level?
  16. I picked Maxxus. Rasputin Maxxus and Baalzak Maxxus. Sort of unrelated but I saw the funniest name I've seen in a while... Darth Comeatmebro.
  17. Agree 100% on both UI and combat. I just quit crafting completely around skill level 150 until I reached 50 because of this and the enormous money sink it is with little return. Which is too bad because I love crafting in mmos and thought the crew concept was going to rid us of crafting interfering with our activities.
  18. I certainly hope that is not your rotation. Dont pop a single defensive cool down until after you have charged in. They only last 10-12 seconds. And use them one at a time. Also save your knock backs as they are interrupts also. Tanks with a dps companion can handle elites 2-3 levels higher using defensive cool downs. Elites on the same level shouldn't require them.
  19. They used actors from both sides of the pond, and most seem to be using their native accent, so I don't think there's anything to one side being british or not.
  20. I have a suggestion, maybe all the search filters work. That and make clicking on an item in inventory bring it up in the gtn. That would be enough imho.
  21. FOR ME being the key two words there. It's barely over a minute to load Hoth for me on a standard 7200 rpm drive. It's barely another minute to get there with the orbital station and my ship loading. It's about 5 mis to get from planet to planet total with orbitals on both ends. Plus I think the orbitals add to the feeling we're in space. I think you guys are experiencing are the amount of steps it takes and are perceiving it as a long time. Yes there are load screens and lots of them, but compared to other mmos 5 minute travel from one end of the universe to the other is very reasonable.
  22. Considering the endgame armor I think 1 and 2 just don't look right from an RP standpoint. Just saying. Anakin skywalker was a 2 but Darth Vader was a 3. 4 is hilarious and I almost did it.
  23. Sounds like OPs video card would have fried playing any game. 80c is a little warm but shouldn't kill it. I over clock my 460 GTX to run around 72c all day with no issues. Cards spec that their max temps go to above 100c nowadays. Swtor needs optimized, it does push systems, but it's not to blame for frying hardware. Just part of being a pc gamer I think.
