  1. You got in before release. That's a bug nowadays? And queues are a bug? You should have been there for Rift's launch. Some servers had multiple hour queues.
  2. Rift did launch with bugs. There were major exploits for Archons and Warrior offhands. Greenscale is STILL bugged. Lag spikes were a problem for a lot of people right at release, not to mention major queues on many servers. Rift is also a very simple MMO when it comes to animations. TOR is a major step forward with regards to animations that actually connect with other players in the world. It appears to me that some of the major client and responsiveness issues stem from this. If BW had kept this MMO under wraps for another 6 months they could have released with fewer issues, but the community would have killed them if there was another delay. Rushed? Yeah, I think it was. However, it is still a pretty solid MMO at launch compared to MMO's a few years ago.
  3. And TOR's launch is better than WoW's launch. That is kind of the point.
  4. Like I said, there is a decent amount content there for an MMO launch. It isn't the amount of endgame that is the problem, it is the quality and the bugs.
  5. Yeah, and I love it. It is an absolute blast if you can find someone to level with. If you both use healer companions there is hardly any downtime and the difficulty is just perfect for a duo. The 2+ are tuned really weird at times. I swear some of them should be 4's. Even with 1 min cc's on two elites you still pull packs with a minimum of 3 elites. I have actually breezed through 4's with 2 other players at lvl 40 (I even main healed with a DPS spec) while struggling in some 2+'s with one other player. Perhaps I need to L2P, but I don't think that is it. Call me old school, but grouping up is enough reward for me. Besides, you chuck leveling gear after a few levels anyway.
  6. What would you prefer instead? BC was an expansion for an MMO that had already been out for a while. TOR released 2 weeks ago. Patience?
  7. 2 raids. Heroic dungeons. PvP. Dailies. That seems to be the normal amount of endgame at launch for every MMO I have seen in the last 5 years. I agree that they should produce more over time and definitely fix the glaring problems in the current endgame, but I fail to see a lack of endgame compared to other MMO's at launch.
  8. Greenscale, the first raid in Rift, is still bugged nearly a year after release. /argument
  9. It has as much as any MMO at launch, perhaps even a little bit more. There is as much endgame content in TOR as there was in Rift at launch. The problem is not in the amount of endgame content. The problem is the bugs (which was also a problem in Rift).
  10. There are a ton of great raiders in WoW that don't deserve that . . . but it still made me giggle. Kudos.
  11. There is still nightmare mode for the operations. However, I think it is dialed down a bit for launch. They didn't want people hitting a brick wall right away. I have this sneaking suspicion that James Ohlen wants to turn the difficulty up to 11 at the first chance but someone is holding him back.
  12. I can understand the frustration, but this MMO is 2 weeks old. Of course it is going to have problems that a 7 year old MMO does not (but once had). I think many of us see the diamond in the rough. It is too bad that some people's impatience will cause them to overlook it.
  13. You may find all of that boring, but there is still stuff to do. Instead of saying that there is nothing to do perhaps people should start giving ideas on how to improve the fun factor in the many things that are there.
  14. Obviously, you found something to find those complaints.
  15. All I ever saw was people jumping around in Dalran waiting for LFD and BG pops. The only community interaction was the "thanks for group" at the end of a dungeon speed run, and that was with people on a different server that you would never see again. The community here in TOR is leaps and bounds better than the WoW community I saw, but your mileage may vary.
  16. Ilum dailies, world bosses, PvP dailies, crafting, space mission dailies, heroic dungeons, operations, kickin' around with your guild homies . . . really, have you looked around?
  17. I've noticed that too. The responsiveness seems to come and go. I remember in beta when it was really bad, but the next build was a huge improvement. They claimed that they moved a lot of the animations from the client to the server side which really improved responsiveness. I am hoping that some of the problem is due to overloaded servers (i.e. problems after turning the servers to "11"). I think we have all found busy spots in certain areas where performance really takes a dive. There is obvious room for optimization if they can find the right screws to turn. I am very willing to chill for a couple of months to see if things improve. I strongly suspect that they will. If nothing else, the Dr.'s do not want to see this MMO fail. They are fully invested. I say give them time.
  18. Agreed. However, we should be patient. TOR is still a great game. I, for one, will continue to give my support with the understanding that they will continue to improve the performance of this game. I am NOT one of the unsubbers in month 1. The irony is that I remember people back in the summer of '11 who were begging BW to release this game. They claimed that they would look past the warts and give them time to fix it if they would only release it. I wonder where these people are now?
  19. Unify to chestpiece. Never should have gone out. They claimed that making your gear the same color does not give you a sense of progression, but then they include the mod system which does away with any sense of visual progression. That never made sense. Second was the choice to only display quests for a given area. That was really nice. That went away when the quest limit was put in place. Lame. And I will second the purple pants and default dogs. Oh, the memories . . .
  20. At early levels, CC is your friend. Of course, Mortar Volley should always be used when off CD, but if it is not available look at your other skills and look for crowd control. They include Sticky Grenade, Full Auto, Fusion Grenade, Plasma Grenade, and Explosive Round. For a group of standard enemies, apply sticky grenade to one target, explosive round to second target, and full auto on third target. That will lock three targets down followed by the knockdown from sticky grenade. Use a high impact bolt on one downed enemy, and then use various other skills to take down the remaining enemies. This should drastically reduce the damage you take from a pack of normal mobs. If there is a strong mob in the group use two skills to lock down any standard/weak mobs and take them down as quickly as possible. Once the weaker enemies are down focus on the strong mob with your single target skills like Charged Bolt and Full Auto. Another strategy uses a lot of ammo but is very effective for tight packs. A Plasma Grenade followed immediately by a Hail of Bolts will finish off most packs of standard/weak mobs. However, they need to be within the splash area of Plasma Grenade which is much smaller than Mortar Volley.
  21. Feel free to keep us honest. Nothing wrong with that. I disagree with some of the points made by people on "my side" as well. However, we all seem to agree on one thing, and that the ability lag is not good, and nearly gamebreaking in competitive settings. Hopefully BW can sift through the other stuff and work on what many of us see as a central problem in gameplay mechanics.
  22. I am sure that there were Ally soldiers in WWII that were strongly anti-semitic. This didn't make them German, nor were they forced to fight for the Axis powers. What side you fight on and your personally morality are two different things.
  23. Agree wholeheartedly. I kind of like that aspect of the combat. For example, the Sage ability Project registers damage when the object actually hits the opponent. It makes it more realistic, IMHO. They shouldn't change that aspect of the mechanics.
  24. There are videos in the OP where skills are not firing because of this problem. Abilities not working is a serious problem, at least for a lot of MMO gamers. Ability lag is also a major problem for serious PvPers (and PvEers). As an analogy, imagine if you put a 0.5s delay on your car's brake pedal. I don't think it would be long before you hit a pedestrian or another car. Gamers need that same type of responsiveness to be competitive in hardcore raiding and PvP.
  25. Also adding my support for this thread. I think this can be BW's first true post-launch test. If they can respond to the community in a timely and meaningful manner it will bode well for the future success of this MMO. Even if we get a response that this fix will take 1-3 months it would be better than "we are working on it". Like many of you, I really want to see this MMO succeed, and part of that success will come from improving responsiveness.
