  1. Our strat is a bit different from most groups. The pirates spawn on the side where the person with top threat is, so we control the pirate spawn by keeping the tanks on one side of the room after the first pirate spawn. All positioning described with stage being front and fence being back. We start with DPS and heals stacked behind the boss on the left side and tanks on the right side. We have one rDPS on the left side stand by the barrel and carry it up to the stage at at under 20 sec. Once volley spawns, everyone spreads out as much as possible. Tanks will move to the right side door, rDPS towards the fence, and healers towards the fence but close enough to tanks to keep them in range. We sometimes have one healer between the tanks on the right side. DPS need to use defensive cooldowns, self heals, and med packs liberally and judiciously. I prefer to use cooldowns immediately after being barreled to avoid being killed by a lifter. If Bulo jumps way across the room on the left side, he will move back to the tanks on the right side. Within the 1st minute the tanks should have a ton of threat and should only need to use taunts where needed from then on. Our tanks have even stopped using barrels. They use damage and AoE taunts to grab the attention of pirates until Mass Barrage. With this strategy, your tanks will need to work out cooldowns and taking turns on the carts. Also, your tanks can stand in the pirate spawn points on the right and hope for a lucky volley circle. It is also helpful if the "flip sides" between the right front and right back positions. Just make sure that shotgun is not going out when you trade positions. This strat has worked for us, but it may not be for everyone. If nothing else, it is something different for people to try if they are struggling with this fight. It takes some of the random movement and random spawns out of the fight.
  2. Those who didn't use the exploit and had ample opportunities to do so, like myself, already have the reward of knowing that they earned their own gear instead of cheesing it. I could care less if they punish or don't punish the exploiters.
  3. We had a Gunslinger take the other tank spot, and got a green cross every time.
  4. This is the strategy that worked for us in 8M with 5 DPS, 1 tank. Underlurker is tanked near wall to the right of the area entrance. DPS/healers group up for heals where the add closest to the entrance usually spawns. DPS/heal group moves towards other adds through this phase (left side of entrance). When rocks drop, DPS/heals group behind rock on the left side of the room (again, with respect to the entrance). Our main tank stays out and does not hide behind rock. DPS/heal group is very far away from boss and tank during knockback. After knockboack, boss reliably jumps to DPS/heal group and then lumbers across the entire length of the room, giving us ample time to get into left/right groups. No knockback defense CD's were used before knockback, only after knockback to ensure that group gets back to other side of room. We got a leap every time and a green cross every time.
  5. It would appear that they already have "active raid state" programmed in. When you die during a boss fight, the option to go back to the start of the raid area is greyed out until everyone is out of combat (i.e. dead or stealthed out) and the boss resets. All they need to do is extend that to changing disciplines. That would seem to be an elegant way of going about it.
  6. Pre-2.0 you could remove Demolition Round from your build and not lose much DPS. I thought it might be possible to build a hybrid around the idea of not putting any points into Electronet or Demo Round. However, after seeing the buff to Demo Round on the live servers it would appear that Demo Round is a must for Gunny Commandos.
  7. I would assume that defense works the same in both PvE and PvP. If a tank in PvP has a defense rating of 35% then an accuracy rating of 110% will bring that down to 25% defense. The question is whether or not accuracy is worth it in the overall scheme of things.
  8. As a DPS Sage the one stat you should be focused on is Willpower. That is your main stat, and it is pretty low. You should strongly consider using your Classic and Basic commendations immediately to buy new gear. Your willlpower should be at least around the 2200 range before going into the current story mode operation, at a minimum. Stats you should stay far away from are defense, shield, and absorb. If you have a choice between more willpower and more endurance, always go for more willpower. As for the sub-categories, you should be focused on your Force stats (instead of melee or defense). Optimally, you want to focus on getting your force accuracy to 110% so that none of your casts miss the bosses. Early on, your accuracy will be lower as you transition from your current gear plus classic gear to the new tiers of endgame gear. For the other DPS stats (power, crit, surge, alacrity) just make sure to have a good distribution between all of them, at least for your beginning gear. As you progress as a new raider and grow more comfortable with min/maxing you can play around with optimizing these other stats. Long story short, you absolutely need new gear, and you should get it very quickly between classic and basic comms. Good luck, and welcome to SWTOR raiding!!
  9. I have heard that Artifice can make mk-9's at the same material cost. The difference is that Artifice can not get materials from strong/elite mobs like Biochem can. This makes Biochem the king of mk-9's right now.
  10. If my 8 man raid group is clicking we can get through TFB HM through Kephess and get NiM Toth and Zorn down in one 2.5 hour raid. That nets us over 20 molecular stabilizers, and at 150K each at current prices on The Harbinger that comes to 3 million in just stabilizers. With mobs dropping good credits in TFB I usually cover my repair costs just with that with about 5-8 wipes total during the run. We choose to use stabilizers to make equipment for other raid groups in our guild, but these could easily be sold which would actually allow us to make a profit by raiding. I can fully understand that not everyone is going to be able to clear those same bosses in the same amount of time, or with as few a number of wipes. However, with some creativity you may be able to do it, especially if you can start RE'ing 63 level modifications.
  11. Let's not forget that credit sinks are good for the in-game economy, especially if they are related to "fluff" items.
  12. For those who say they have no lag it is not enough to say "I have no lag". What server are you on? Do you have lag in Section X or Black Hole where everyone is reporting massive ability delay? From my own experience, lag while doing ops is low, but it is terrible in the popular daily areas. How can it be my machine when there is no lag doing a 16 man operation, but massive lag when I am in an instance all by myself in Section X?
  13. The problem areas on Harbinger appear to be Black Hole, Section X, and Voss. My entire guild reports massive input delays at the same time in the same areas. All of us have the same bad lag at the same time in the same areas. We were trying to take down Nightmare Pilgrim the other night and it was impossible because of the input lag. We ran a 16 man in EC the other night and no one had problems with input lag. It is quite obviously a server side issue.
  14. The best way I can describe what I want is to reference the WoW mods I used to use. These are mods aimed more at DPS roles which I play on a regular basis. First, I REALLY want a Mik Scrolling Battle Text. I really want a better way of seeing the damage I am doing and the damage I am taking. MSBT was a PERFECT solution and a mod that I always enjoyed as a DPS. Second, I would love to have Power Auras. These are client configurable visual cues for buffs and debuffs. I appreciate the fact that you guys have tried hard to give us visual cues for buffs, but I just prefer the PA version better. They are easier to see and I can configure them the way I want. What I DON'T want to see is Boss Mods. I think most people in the community would agree with this. I think a fair minded approach is to allow the player to reconfigure the information that you are already providing. I also do NOT want a macro system that simplifies rotations to a single button press. However, some simple quality of life changes would be really nice, such as being able to macro non-gcd skills (e.g. tech override) or out of combat skills.
  15. The irony, of course, is that the community wanted BW/EA to open up a lot more servers at lauch so they wouldn't need to sit in queues. You reap what you sow.
  16. How is 1.3 million subscribers "dead"? Too spread out? Yes, definitely. But dead? Hardly.
  17. A tad on the low side, but healthy enough to support several guilds, one of which may be to your liking.
  18. That's strange. I have raided 3 of the last 4 nights with my buds. Perhaps we are playing different games?
  19. That would be SPECIFIC information. You claimed that they had not communicated the BASIC information. I highly doubt that BW has a finalized plan on which servers are going to be taking free transfers, and it will only hurt them if they make specific announcements now and then change them later (reference Ranked Warzones). A great example of why they should not give out specific information too early. When it changes people claim they are contradicting themselves.
  20. In the words of Teal'c . . . Indeed. At this point some people have just closed their ears, which is unfortunate. I, for one, appreciate BW's stand on these issues. They have given us the basic information on server transfers and they will speak on it again when they have more specific information. I guess that some posters on these forums think that communication is repeating the same thing over and over in every thread that asks for it.
  21. They have given that information. Transfers will start in early summer. The first wave will be free transfers to servers that BW chooses. After that there will be the option for people to pay for transfers to any server they wish. The transfers will be for your entire legacy, and if you are copying one legacy to a server that already has another legacy then the highest of the two will take precedence. What I have found is that the people complaining about a "lack of communication" are in fact complaining that BW is not saying what they want them to say.
  22. Really dude? Isn't there a parade downtown that you need to be urinating on? God forbid that someone try and organize a community event in an MMO.
  23. My DPS was 1153 on one of the Toth/Zorn runs last night, 1:42 parse. We didn't down those two last night on HM, but my lowest DPS was ~800 (bad run) and my average was around 1050. http://i1163.photobucket.com/albums/q548/emcindoo/parse.jpg We tried to run MOX but 2 people had their .NET framework crash and another person had serious frame rate issues, so all I have is my parse. Hope it helps.
  24. Gunny Commando here, and I am top DPS in my Ops group. Gunny Comms are still very viable in PvE content, so not sure what the OP is complaining about.
  25. Thanks, it's nice to know. Crafted 10 orange electrum chestpieces with no luck yet. Was starting to wonder if it was possible. Guess I will keep trying.
