  1. Well, i for one hope folks stick around and will try and find every way I can help make that happen.
  2. Fair enough, but one might argue that SWTOR is not solid enough to warrant a sub at this point....it is hit or miss on quite a few game features, so it ends up landing square in the middle. SWTOR is a strange game, in that it has all of the parts of a successful MMO, but for some reason the parts do not fit well with each other. All too often the game disappoints when it should impress. A good example of a HUGE improvement to fix this problem, IMO, is the Activities window. FINALLY we have a system that puts the content into one spot where it all fits nicely. That is, of course, 6 years into the games existence.
  3. I will humor you with three....LotRO, Wildstar and STO. All three are comparable (though some may argue that WIldstar has trouble when directly compared to SWTOR) and all three have far better F2P systems in place. Is that subjective? Sure. The systems have their detractors, but I think it is pretty common knowledge that these three games have good systems and SWTOR has one of the worst. Spend any amount of time around the net and you are bound to see bad reviews of SWTORs F2P system. Systems that actually encourage investment in the game are key. In fact, you will find for these three games that folks often complain that the game is too addictive....they find themselves spending far too much in the markets. I did this with Wildstar, probably spent three times what I spent here. I did not play this game for free when I was not subbed. The F2P system here is more punishment than fun.
  4. I would strongly agree with this. I have seen many great suggestions get implemented in very bad ways, obviously becoming either dreaded features, disappointments or features in the game that are hardly utilized. Strongholds and GS come to mind, but the most recent is certainly GC. It was suggested the game needed a horizontal leveling system past level cap...what we got was an armor delivery system that likely thrilled casuals and caused hardcore players to leave in droves. It was silly to replace a system that worked with one that so radically changed how gear is acquired in the game for end game players. The feature simply reached too far and lost. I fear the damage it did, in its original form, is going to be VERY difficult to fix.
  5. Oh, you get me wrong. I never said any of those stances are the wrong ones to have, or bad ideas persay....in fact I am from the permadeath and player looting crowd of yesteryear. They are only wrong to CLING TO in todays market. The only thing I will say is that I accepted that the market has changed, and one of the things that has virtually disappeared in todays modern MMO market is exclusivity. I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but I for one want to see this game succeed and hopefully grow, and one of the things I have to do is accept the current market. Others can do as they please, naturally. I think it is silly to think that a lack of difficulty in leveling or exclusivity has hurt this game. That is a false equivalency IMO. Very clearly Command was not received well, but that is due to the silly move of removing direct reward in end game, using a mechanic that should have been limited to and targeted at casual players. I have also campaigned for a difficulty slider in Level Sync that would enable folks to hard cap 2 levels lower than at present, as this may present a more challenging leveling process if desired. The popularity of instant level tokens and double XP events proves, IMO, that difficulty in leveling is dead. Folks want to be able to level easily and either just enjoy the story without hassle or quickly get to end game. I played UO at RELEASE, if that gives you any clue how old I am.
  6. Might I suggest the 90 day sub package offered at Amazon? It gives 2400 bonus coins. Perhaps if you give them at least 3 more months you might find reason to stay. It is a pretty good deal.
  7. Lets not encourage players to unsub, shall we? A bit of ranting in the forums is a small price to pay for paying players. This game needs every player it has.
  8. Mobility in this game is terrible IMO, but it is not the only game that suffers from this. Though it is a bit silly that a small rock would stop my progress. Playing a game where mobility is encouraged and designed right into the game, like Warframe puts this game to shame. But I imagine that the environments would have had to be VERY different to allow more mobility. Still, wouldnt hurt to allow us to jump a bit farther, and move a bit faster in NPC combat. Tired of feeling like I am moving in sand even WITH speed boosts.
  9. Well, for me it is like the Heroic Moment....mixing in force abilities with shooting classes is not a big deal for me. I can see someone granting me temporary abilities. Not to mention that some classes, like the BH are natural force enemies, at least that is how they have been portrayed in the canon. Like the fight between Jango and Obi-wan is a good example.
  10. I think there is also the factor that most F2P that are comparable to SWTOR have much better F2P models. Certainly few if any are perfect, but when you combine this games obvious shortcomings, especially with the F2P model, combined with saturation and better models in the genre it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.
  11. There has been quite a bit of player feedback turned into game features and changes, either directly or in combination with other feedback...I can personally attest to this. As to the toxic nature of feedback, I agree that feedback, even brutal feedback should be constructive, meaning that it should have clear complaints/points and suggestions to correct them. Not all negative feedback is toxic, and not all positive feedback is helpful. Keep in mind that negative feedback is actually the most useful to a game, as it allows the game to make positive changes and grow/improve over time.
  12. And I would argue that Command leveling is just as easy. and certainly has some parity with current XP leveling time points, perhaps 1 to 100 is slower than leveling 1 to 12 without a boost. I have advocated for more CXP 1 to 100. Despite this the mechanic for CXP was added. The desire for this kind of item is obvious based on the influx of players during XP events....I think it would be hard to argue that players do not enjoy the event.
  13. Right. I contend that it is likely most players either do not care about exclusivity (no more than they care about permadeath, player looting, bus stop travel, grinding to level, etc) or they do not expect it as few modern games even partake in the process. I believe most modern MMO players know the market has changed and, if begrudgingly, accept those changes. There are a few players that still cling to the past however. You can see them in forums every day...harder leveling, gated content, trinity, exclusivity, etc. It is difficult to drag those players into modern times, but eventually they will need to accept the current norm. In the mean time they can protest all they wish.
  14. Folks can certainly ask for anything they wish. I am not one to try and stifle suggestions. I would only point out this...considering the impact that removing a west coast server would have on game image, the assumed state of game health and the like, isn't it likely that this move NEEDED to be made? And if that is actually the case, would it not be smarter to try and find ways to bring back former players....get the word out, help Bioware recruit new players....therefore increasing the population and the need for a new server? Sure, its a bit of a stretch. But I think less so than making demands on a company that likely made a choice that was not going to make them look good simply because they had no choice.
  15. Well, to be fair it was offered with terms, and for those folks those terms were met. One can assume that folks expected that this would not be repeated. That expectation was not the fault of Bioware....as exclusivity in MMOs is a dated mechanic that has mostly passed on. However, you can't blame folks for expecting exclusivity as it was certainly implied by nature of the requirements. However, assuming that the evidence indicates this was a particularly popular offer, and if it is one that would likely draw in former players (I suspect it would) I personally find it a bit selfish to take the stand that exclusivity is more important than game health. That is just my view, folks can certainly take any position they wish.
  16. You should remove the companion removal mechanic from KotFE. That should be added to the lists IMO.
  17. I understand the return of factional play, as that is something that is likely desired by a sizable portion of the playerbase, and this also gives players the option to fight for the opposite side, a "switch faction" of sorts. However, story wise, I think an option where a player could have chosen to oppose BOTH sides would have made sense, since the Alliance is supposed to be ruling over both and preventing war. Perhaps a third area where the Republic and Empire are in open war AND you participate in content to defeat both sides and punish them for disobeying your command.
  18. Thank you for all the opinions and suggestions, I like the suggestion that more cards need to be honored, there should be NO roadblocks to folks paying for their sub or making purchases, short of security concerns. That is why I advocate the return of all packs permanently. I also think they should have an option for one time payment of single 30 day sub, as I imagine many folks do not like automatic payments, myself included. I am a STRONG advocate for making the 90 day/2400 coin special on Amazon a 90 day availability special instead of the 180 day use restriction....it is the very reason I am subbed at the moment, and I think it has quite a bit of appeal.
  19. Sure, lets ignore the situation because that might weaken our argument, shall we? Isnt it likely that this mistake annoyed more than a few people, that some folks may have actually subbed based on it, and this was likely popular back when it was offered? If that is the case, does that not speak to the power for subscription enticement this special may hold? Considering the current state of the game, conjecture of course (all of this is after all), and the response so far, is it fair to say that quite a few folks would likely like to see this return? Is this about HK, playing as HK or the additional comp from the mission? Are there any conditions in which those opposed to this idea would find it acceptable, such as leaving out the acquisition of the companion? That said, this mistake in NO WAY obligates Bioware to bring back this promotion IMO, nor does it weaken any argument against its return (IMO the arguments against are about as weak as they can get on their own). It seems the argument comes down to fairness, all things equal. If I am mistaken, correct me. Players wish to keep this content, which appears to be one of the few items that actually encouraged subs from being offered once again because it is not fair to those that qualified in the past. This is not only dated but is extremely selfish IMO. Not because players cant get shinies....that is not an issue. Because this game may be in trouble, and anything short of giving away the house should be considered. When it comes to the games health, I could not care less about fairness. IMO neither should Bioware.
  20. If I may chime in....yes, they deserve a reward as well. Anyone willing to follow the requirements of a sub period deserve some kind of recognition. I would suggest a choice....just off the top of my head...choice of one of three companions (one not offered yet) and missions that match each. So perhaps that might mean Nico and a mission, HK and a mission,.....wampa and a mission? Yea, not the best person for this suggestion I think. Perhaps other folks should ring in here.
  21. Why not? The question is as relevant as the answer. Making a point that you would like some kind of reward if you qualified for the original reward, since you can not qualify again is not an unreasonable request IMO. It is, however, an unreasonable argument against implementation IMO. Make a suggestion as to what you feel would be fair compensation for those that have already received the content for the prior promotion. That would something completely reasonable to request IMO.
  22. Ok, it is obvious, IMO, that expanding original class stories in some real way would be something that could draw in huge amounts of players. But, here is the rub....the amount of resources available to do so is most likely limited. Assuming that is true, how could they do so and keep it "cheap"? This was my idea that I presented a while back.... Create small episode expansions for each class, released one at a time, that would be built using droids, aliens and prior dialog in the game from your characters storyline. It would naturally take time to gather proper sound bites from recorded dialog to provide proper responses, and using droids or aliens as the conversation driver would mean there would be no need for voice over work. You could also mix in text messages (like signs that you read, etc) to avoid voice over. As far as environment, the expansion could be presented on ships that have already been used in the game, with no need to redress. There are likely dozens of ship models that could be used. I would try and find ways to make alterations of past missions to plug them into the storyline, with a few small changes to make them fresh. Finally, i would drop in a few of the PVE starfighter missions, perhaps some walker missions. I believe that most of the work can be pieced together from current content, assembled in such a way to make it fresh and new. It is naturally much more complicated than I am stating here....but believe me when I tell you that coders, animators and graphic artists, as well as writers can accomplish amazing things when they set their minds to it.
  23. I want to see droids provided as a playable race, with romances disabled if that is an issue (except with other droids of course). As far as alien race I would like to see trandoshans. Bothans and wookies would be great as well.
  24. Guys, please. This is a thread where folks provide ideas on how Bioware could turn things around if SWTOR is indeed losing players, not a place to debate the hows and whys on why we got here in the first place. I would request that you take that discussion to another thread.
  25. It does seem a bit odd that folks would want to preserve exclusivity so passionately. It has been quite a few years now that exclusivity has meant next to nothing in online games, especially with the advent of DLCs, cash shops and the like. There are items released on a constant basis in this game that were once exclusive. We are not speaking of a founder title here. This is an item that may have had a positive effect on player retention. Frankly, if and ONLY if that was the case it is downright selfish to cling to exclusivity when the game is in the state it is likely in at the moment. Naturally, if there is some way they can find something else that will generate the kind of interest this companion and mission did then the exclusivity should be preserved, but not at the detriment to the games population levels. That is going too far. For about 15 years now no player in ANY MMO has been entitled to exclusivity for all time. This is the industry norm, and any players that cling to that dated practice are simply living in the past. As to the effect of them going back on their word, so to speak? 1) They have given no word to go back on. They did not promise exclusivity, and to glean that from the promotion is wishful thinking at best. 2) Players did receive exclusivity up to this point IF this was to be released again. Just like any other limited time content with requirements to qualify those that did qualify got access, while those that did not....well....did not. If those qualifications are presented again, same block of required sub time, same companion, same mission, you still retained exclusivity up to that point. IF this was something you could simply buy in the CM or was given out for free I could understand the frustration. THAT, IMO, is a valid complaint. However, if folks are allowed to attempt to qualify again under the same circumstances you are losing nothing. They have to qualify, the same as you. The only difference is where the time period falls.
