  1. Here's an original Idea...allow people to roll whatever character they want independant of faction then balance the servers out and only allow character creation equally to each side....It has already been established there are Dark Jedi and Light Sith....Why wouldnt it be feesible that you could roll with the sith class skills and with some tweaks to the main class quest be a full blown Sith Jedi hiding in the order similar to Anakin in Episode 1 who had commited atrocities like slaughtering a vilage of sand peopel yet was still not fully exposed or the Emperor who appeared to be a senator yet was a full blown sith lord ... There is no story reason why you couldnt just be secretly a full blown sith and still on the Republic's side or a Jedi spy hiding in the ranks of the Sith...again with tweeks to the class quests this could be made to work easily....and the Smuggler and Bounty Hunter should have been independant to begin with they are classes that have no allegiane aside from their wallet so having them be one side or the other made no sense from the begining.... In my mind they should have made the light side dark side bar determine your faction once you maxed it out you should have changed alegance to match it....makes little sense your doing flash points and operations to support a cause that conflicts with your sensibilities on every level.... Anyway if neither of those things is an option consider adding a 3rd faction and putting all the Bounty Hunters, Smugglers and redeemed sith or fallen jedi in it... It would be an independant faction and by segmenting off the population and essentially splitting off a huge section of the imperial's core characters it would help balance the game more....
  2. The problem I have with alot of the head gear is that if you choose to wear it you do not have an option to raise or lower your hood seperate of the headgear... I think if they put hood up or down as an option on all chest pieces that have a hood it would be another very neat way of customizing the way you look or being a little more sinister if you choose, I want to be able to wear a helmet and still have my hood up as do many people I come across on the forums and in game ....To be honest alot of the sith helmets look like space age football helms with the 3 rings in the front of the face...maybe it was meant to be a subtle nod to Dead Space (another of EA's properties)....but it's not half as cool looking as that characters armored helm.... Also I understand the idea of making characters appear visible on screen and why you have all the red lights on sith robes but I still dislike it ....I have a contrast slider on my 1k HD TV as do most of the people out there... give us plain black robes like all the sith in the movies had no lights on it whatsoever I will take my chances with walking off the side of a shadowy cliff.... or getting lost against the scenery and look cool while doing it.....
  3. I say ban all Body type 4 player for exploiting the candy isle in their local groccery store...... Seriously though...If your going by the Star Wars cannon of anyone of any stature being capable of force senstivity not allowing not only corpulant women but also little people similar to Yoda's stature and the multitude of alien races into the game to be any class they choose is kind of discriminatory. Shouldnt everyone have an option to represent themselves in this game similar to how they appear in real life? That was the whole concept Yoda discussed when he was training Luke in Empire...not judging a book by it's cover and the mind being the limit of the force not the body....
  4. I dont really understand the mentality with MMO designers when it comes to MMO PVP. Most gamers and game designers understand that in order to have longevity in PVP you need a wealth of new maps to keep the PVP side of things booming. You constantly see mappacks being added into shooters or new levels/modes into console games yet MMO's feel the need to rehash level grinding when they do expansions or have the same 4-5 pvp maps for years on end with zero improvements (I'm looking at you Warsong Gulch) which is essentially abandoning your player base to boredom ....It seems to be a sharp contrast comparing the Modern Warfare's to the WoW's but I often wonder why one side isnt learning from the others success. Even when the designers philosophy has been to provide fewer maps with better functionality like in games like Valve's Team Fortress 2... the developers have dropped the tools for map creation in the hands of the players so they can create interesting content in the game....to amazing results.. We see these kind of PC concepts creeping into the console market in Halo 2's forge mode, Little Big Planet's map editor and Infamous 2's mission creation tools .... Star Wars would have the ability to truely innovate if it provided similar modular tools to the player base and allowed us to make maps for PVP ....or custom mission instances.... I understand the desire to have a story that ties into the games overall arc in PVE and even PVP but ultimately it is a game.....There is no story element that explains how I can constantly respawn with a medical droid 2 feet in front of a boss or why my vehicle/transport disapears into thin air when I get to my destination there will always be gameplay conciets to our suspension of disbelief. Allowing the player base to create infinite expansions and map packs creates an entirely new meta game to the MMO genere all together....similar things could be done if the tools for space combat, pod racing, pazak ect. were made modular and opened up to the community in an expansion... Imagine having a Player Created Content Server (PCCS) where you would have all the current functionality of the game plus queue's for new missions and quests created by the player base....you could provide instanced maps with variable terrain where these missions or PVP could occur and if games like Imfamous 2 can have a mission editor I seriously doubt Bioware cant figure it out....I'm sure the technology could concievably be incorperated into an MMO.... I think a system like this would not only be the ultimate in fan service it could provide the ultimate answer to the problem of a grind...If I can just play the wealth of player created missions and still earn xp the game would never truely have an end and I have no doubt that alot of the stories whould be gripping and entertaining....fan fiction and Star Wars are already bound at the hip it would be interesting to see what teh masses could come up with....add in a level rating system similar to What Little Big Planet does so that the best creations rise to the top and players can sift through the trash and it could be a true game changer in the MMO space... Obviously you would have to forsake voice acting for word baloons unless you allowed people to record their own voice into the games levels which would be even more enjoyable and I imagine it being a George Lucus cash cow there would be strict rules to prevent adult content from making it's way into the game like has happend on some of the non licensed material games...(See the Little Big Planet Holocaust or Hurricane Katrina levels on Youtube for why we arnt allowed to have nice things) not to mention the coding would be a monumental task but the end result could be the kind of revolutionary expansion that redefined the MMO genere and solidified SWTOR as an original MMO that is more then an initial hype magnet.....
  5. The problem with this line of thinking is that you assume people want to grind through the game again instead of experiencing different content . I currently have a 50 Assassin, a 33 Sniper and a 33 Marauder as well as a 14 Bounty Hunter I enjoy playing the PVP or gearing up in end game with a new class but to get there I have to grind....unfortunately the game doesnt have enough optional quests to augment the class quest area's.... When I finally grind my remaing 3 alts to 50 I will have experienced every class quest available to the Sith side characters and have played through all the side quests 4 times just to level quickly up to endgame PVE and PVP without even getting truely geared to do any of it well....It has already gotten to the point of total boredome where I skip the dialogue and listen to podcasts while I play to make it interesting when on my alts. Currently on my server finding low level tank and heals is a pain in the butt I have literally spammed for them hours on end just to get a group together so instance leveling is not even an option. If you seriously think the majority of people are going to re-grind through a story 16 times to get every variation of the classes and that is whats giving the game longevity your wrong.... This game will have it's longevity by haveing good end game content expanding PVP vastly and adding E-sport options for huttball like spectator mode and tournament options...fixing the multitude of bugs that still plague every facet of the game and continuing to launch new expansions where friends and guildies can play with each other. Grinding is not fun past experiencing the story/class quests of a new class for the first time. Allowing players to level in different ways ( say rolling back the PVP nerfs or offering a buff for legacy players or boosting instance leveling for legacy players ) would do far more to extend the longevity of the game...Having tanks/heals available at every player level through duel spec would do alot for the game as well. Forcing people to play the game in ways they have long since stopped enjoying so they can eventually play it in a way they would enjoy does not inspire people to continue playing this or any game and those are things that need to realistically be discussed when considering duel spec.... You want to talk about consequences well people are paying 15 bucks a month for their experiences and guess what happens when they stop having fun....there is a consequence to that to.... Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 are a stones throw away from release not to mention all the new consoles that are going to be launching soon if SWTOR forces people to grind again and again instead of playing content with friends or content they want to play there will be a portion of their base that jumps ship to play the next shiny new toy and will never come back.... The worst concept in MMO's has always been the grind leaning on it like it's a solution rather then providing compelling content is an insult to the people paying good money to be entertained it's like saying if you walk into a movie theater and buy a ticket to a bad movie that by locking the door and forcing people to suffer through their bad decision you will somehow make the experience that much more rewarding to them and others...that is rubbish... If you want to watch a bad drama....have at it.... I want to leave and spend my valuable time and money on something I like ...It's called cutting your loses and you can expect to see alot of people doing that if the games buggy content and it's options dont improve in the foreseable future....
  6. How is it an oversight that the base turrents were destructable?.....How do you accidently put hitpoints on something?...Does Bioware think we have ESP? Or do they believe we are able to use "The Force" to decern their intent?...You give hitpoints to anything in a game and my first thought is that it can be killed as was every other players on patch day....The sentiment that Bioware is an innocent baby in all this and the big bad level 50 Imperials were commiting abusive crimes against them makes little to no sense. Most people playing on patch day were clueless. People playing at the time of "the great valor rush" thought that by killing turrents you would get valor....at least that was the rumor going in chat for a while...It was a new patch, most people had no idea what they were doing or how the systems worked because they were newely implemented without testing on the Public Test Realm... People believed destroying opponents in PVP was....gasp....how PVP works .... It's not like faction imbalance has never happened in an MMO before anyone that was in Wintergrasp on WOW knows Horde would face roll Alliance 9 out of 10 times and Blizzard never accused Horde of exploiting, they knew it was their own fault for letting the factions be unbalanced and took steps to correct it ala the broken buff system and eventually a queue.....which was also broken but was better then nothing... By the way whinners ....Repubs dont spawn in their base they spawn on platforms outside their base the same as Imperials. The only thing in the Base is a flight path and you can just drive to Illum pvp area through the caves so it's not a mandatory thing to use.....noone was getting spawn camped... Dont you think at least one Repub said in general chat. "Dont use the Illum Flight Path because Imperaials standing on it." If they didnt, it's their own fault...thats how PVP works... The Idea that Imperaials were cheating is laughable it was PVP poorly implemented in the game and the lack of a system that would thin out the obviously unbalanced factions that led to this problem... A day latter when 200 Imperaials are standing under the Republic's respawn point instead of at the mouth of their base waiting for the recently rezed repubs to jump down and die in a 5 -1 fight is that going to be an exploit too? How about when I'm leveling an alt and a level 50 repub comes and slams my level 30 is that an exploit?...Under some of these posters rules it is and a much worse one because I have no way of winning that fight..... If faction imbalance is an exploit how about Bioware stop people from rolling any more Imperials when the numbers are too stacked? Or come up with a queue system for Illum? What many posters fail to realize is well over half the people playing THE Old Republic arnt even on the forums reading updates let alone patch notes or dev suggestions on gameplay and these people certainly didnt wade through the user agreement they scrolled down and mouse clicked like the other 90% of the player base... For all they know Bioware is owed their first born child and they sold EA their dog when they signed up.....imbuing these people who would rather just play the game then read about it with sinister motives is not only laughable but dangerous because they make up the masses of Star Wars Fans playing this game.... Want to roll back valor, have at it, start banning and Bioware is just shooting themselves in the foot because the first guy who thought he was just playing the game that gets banned and still owes Bioware/EA 15 bucks for the month is going to start a wildfire on the internet Bioware cant afford right now...EA stock already took a hit because of the SWTOR subscription rate was lower then what was previously projected by an analyst.... ....So now not only do people who have no idea how to play an MMO or who started playing because of the Star Wars license have to pay a monthly fee you expect joe blow to tread through a 24 page legal contract first, read every line understand the legal jargon and cosign it or he's getting banned? realy?...I doubt it...That aint ever going to happen.....and you me and Bioware know it.....
  7. It's funny to me, if you ask A Sorc how hard it was to level they are all like...." I can solo Heroic quests and it is brainlessly easy...I face rolled on the keyboard to 50...LTP melee noob, leveling and class quests are soooo easy...." You ask the same Sorc if he is OP in PVP he is like...."Every class has their strength and weeknesses and can be OP.... but obviously WE are not OP and a nerf would be stupid ...I mean look over there (points).... Marauders come on....now thats OP" Healing ? Check..... Rediculous amounts of DPS ? (I have seen 500k damage and 200k healing from the same guy in one match) Check... A Ton of Instant CC, slows, shields and escape mechanics ? Check .... One of the longest attack ranges in the game? Check... Special unique utility in PVP ( yank a ballhandler up to goal in huttball or sprint ball accross goal line)Check... Over Powered in PVP ?...NOOOO!....It's time to have a loooong phylisophical discussion because there is noooo imperical evidence to support the railroading of such a storied, skill based, class...that is obviously missunderstood by the masses not rolled as a Sorc that need to LTP... ....Thats prety much every sorc thread in a nutshell......
  8. 1.1 http://twitch.tv/hanibalhendrix/b/305881282 1.1a http://twitch.tv/hanibalhendrix/b/305967904 The issue's I see here are not exploits they are the horrid lag, faction imbalance, dev's designing destructible turrets, dev's not taking into account what the valor gains would be if your in an Ops group...... Since when is PVP on a PVP server an exploit? Ganking and spawn camping are also not exploits in the user agreement I have read.....the goal of the developers shouldnt be to make players play the game in a way they intended it should be to make a good polished product that will allow the player base to play any way they choose and in some cases ways they didnt intend yet allow everyone to feel they are being fairly treated and equally cared for by the game developer....Illum was poor game design and testing plain and simple...not an exploit and it needs to be handled as such....
  9. I agree with most of what Bioware said. I was on illum during the "valor rush" and would have no problem if they rolled back my valor, there were people claiming they gained 30 levels or more. I got about 10 myself in a day which is probably high but I have prety much abandoned my 50 for alts till they fix endgame bugs so I cant really compare it to what I would get grinding warzones all day. My issue with the statement is instead of "investigating" the player base how about investigating the numerous bugs in game. I went on my sniper alt and did the level 32 class quest area and couldnt even target the boss because of a lign of sight bug. I had to run up and stab him to pull him off his platform in order to finish the area... Then on my marauder alt I was again doing class quest and I entered an instanced elevator on Balmorra and got insta gibbed several times I had to retreat to the forums and figure out the only way to survive is dismiss your companion to avoid the auto death bug.... Quality of life issues like that are going to determine if people resub to your game and I continue to have a wealth of people to play with. The fact is the numbers are already dwindling my server used to be Heavy pop with a queue time now it's average and I can barely find people on to do flashpoints on my lower level alts. How about a cross server dungeon queue for everyone under level 40.... leave 40-50 in server that would help alot. Please spend time investigating that, or how about giving people on the test servers 50's so they can actually test the game in high level area's instead of releasing buggy content. As far as the account action statement, I have this to say. Bioware created every feature of Illum PVP. They may not have intended for their playerbase to be smart enough to kill a base turrent, but we were....and it was designed by Bioware to be destroyed. The player base didnt give it hitpoints did we? No one from Bioware stated, fight outside the base, but not inside did they? The forums were devoid of any statements till well into the evening, dont rewrite history Bioware. You botched it, not some greedy facet of the player base... Banning people for playing the game in a manner you designed it and not breaking any rules in the user agreement is rediculous. It would be like the IRS giving you a second tax day on April 16th because you figured out how to make too much money legaly....Calling farming valor illegal when they clearly put it in the game as an end game activity and announced it would be there and at what rate is silly. What did they expect would happen? There is no serious PVP'er that saw that valor rate and didn't know before 1.1 launched that it was going to be OP and need fixing and that Repubs were done for on Illum... If Bioware screwed up the math they should take responsibility for their blunder and say we are sorry we screwed up and then put systems in game to fix it like say adjusting the rate of valor gain for people involved for a day or 2 ect. But account action or suspension is going to lead to frustrated players and less subs and hurt the game. You want to show a strong front then get the level 14 gold farmer bots that are standing on chests and auto looting them off of Illum once and for all and stop prosecuting your player base that is playing the game as it was designed and being very patient with all of these game breaking bugs you have yet to fix. Lastly, take the time to clearly define what you want people to not do in game because isnt valor farming/dailys working as intended? What's next a dev banning you for ganking somone in PVP on a PVP server or farming your dailys because it's gold exploiting.....
  10. I use my left had to strafe...and press...gasp..keybinds....the few I have ...oh and my thumb is on jump....I have a merc stealth keyboard, left side is set up special for control....my setup is like a First Person Shooter the only keybinds I have are the ones you would normally use for grenades in a FPS. ....I regularlyl go 20-40 and 0 in warzones....hard to troll when video evidence proves your wrong but feel free to keep trying makes me laugh...
  11. I dont use the keyboard to turn, I strafe with A & D, I have Q and E keybound , I move with my mouse Spells in this game autoface you do realize that right? You click /press lightining and if the idiot runs in a circle your character just turns and keeps hitting them with it thats not the keyboard turn it's automatic tracking on the spells part ...this isnt wow mechanics are different such as no autoshot so your not gimped clicking in the slightest.... less troll pls
  12. Here's a suggestion .....read what force shroud does and start using it..... got a grenade on you that is bound to finish you off...Force shroud will cause it to resist... it's a tech attack... got a dot on you force based or tech no problem (every dot is one of these) pop force shroud and watch as you resist every tick .... You jump down and land next to a bounty hunter, sniper or low on health assassin ...immediately press force shroud and laugh as they press their knockback and you resist because it's a tech/force attack and you gank them.... Low on health about to die ....here's the combo....force shroud....your 100% resistant to that dot on you now you can....Force Cloak and the ticks of the dot wont break you back out of stealth then you...Darkness...so noone can detect you...finally you....Force speed....to the nearest health pack or corner to seathe.... worried a fellow assassin, or bounth hunter will force pull or lasso you ....guess what beats it... want to close distance on a sorc spitting lightning or stand in aoe and finish a foe ....guess what you do... Force Shroud is basically the Pally bubble of this game if your not using it right or at all you will fail as an assassin if you start using it ever time it's up at the right time you will be next to unstopable...
  13. I know your a troll...and I know my pvp tank video has 440 views....and my channel 2,306 your hatred (and reposting of links) only makes me stronger lol......
  14. If your proclamations were true I wouldnt have been killing people when I'm outmatched 2 to 1 or be going 22 and 0 in a match where I barely got healed.... They would be dominating me...knoledge of the mechanics will win out over fast finger button mashing every time....reaction time is based on alot of things that have nothing to do with keyboard or mouse or controller.... Take a 12 year old kid he will have a better reaction time then a 40 year old man all other things being equal....There are also people who have almost superhuman reaction time say like the guy who played through every level of Pacman without dying or a guy who beats Ninja Gaiden in a speed run on Hardmode that has very little to do with controller but rather their inate coordination. You also can factor in repetition as a factor take someone that 2 finger types because they never took a typing class vs someone that types 100 words a minute obviously practice was a factor. Writing off every other natural factor and asuming everyone will require one manner of inteface is silly ...go look up Wolfcrone champion of Street Fighter 4 that plays on a pad when almost everyone else plays on an arcade stick.....bottom line is use whatever technique you feel comfortable with and you will have success.... That is a proven fact of every game, sport, or hobby in existance. There are plenty of people that use irregular stances or techniques in sports and in most cases they end up being even better off because they are unusual and hard to predict. Good luck maping 20 buttons on your left hand and controlling your characters strafe at the same time without ever missclicking a button ......I'll do what feels natural to me, you do the same.... My post wasnt an attack on you it was pointing out that the problems people are currently having have nothing to do with The Assassin class being unable to perform it duties in PVE or PVP (IE the video evidence that we can) or the interface but rather knowledge of the games mechanics as people play the game more and become more familiar with what cancells what the gameplay will become more intense and refined in PVP and less challenging in PVE...
  15. You know it occured to me that it would be hilarious if they buffed the tooltips to make us think we were better but in reality we were exactly the same...placebo buff for the win.....
