  1. I didn't know you could switch Nadia, but frankly even if I'd known, I would still have tried it with her just because it'd felt cheap otherwise. (There WAS a reason why I was here at level 42, I was looking to make story quests a bit more challenging by doing them at level/a little under level) This fight was tough, because Nadia was at that point essentially gearless. I stole aggro from the start of the fight and she never stood a chance to get it back. When it became clear I was not going to finish him off before my health finished itself off, (I was out of cooldowns and he was down to 50%) I switched to insta cast abilities and used line of sight. Essentially I'd peek around an object and hit him with a dot, peek again hit him with another, and then project. Oh and a movement debuff when I could. All this while Nadia was beating on him without a chance to regain aggro, so he did die fairly quickly while I was hiding behind the nearby box/wall/whatever was handy. I'm going to try to gear Nadia out in top gear and see if she becomes more useful, but I have a feeling she'll never be nearly as good as Qyzen or the annoying healer. (I really do like Holiday though, too bad I can't take her with me without the healer, heh)
  2. This is overall an old thread. Way before 1.2 when it was started. But I'll offer this: Any quest class quest can easily be beaten at level, they're much easier than non-class quests in the same level range, and insanely easier than heroics-2, which can be beaten with 2-3 levels over the quest, a lot less in some cases. If you experience a bug in which creatures respawn inside a quest (except where it makes sense story wise, but it's fairly obvious since there's usually an animation of them storming the place, but even if the animation were broken or your settings are set to not show animations, following the story also tells you that evil reinforcements are coming) then obviously the quest will be much harder than intended. I have NEVER experienced these bugs, and I'm not sure ithey exist, but whatever, I'll take what people say at face value. When you let enemies group up too close together, there's a chance your CC will break because your npc ever so briefly looks at the other target while evaluating what to attack next, and they sometimes do choose CC'd targets, although usually they don't. - kind of like players really, heh. Solution, be smart about the CC, don't use them when the enemies are already all on top of each other. There are many many many tactics you can use to overcome tougher fights. Switch to a healer, NPC, kite enemies around solid objects while you put dots and shoot projects on them, while replenishing your shield as you can. (I've beaten heroics this way after the shtuff hit the fan and I'm left alone with the boss at 25% health... took a while though) The tank NPC Qyzen rocks, he is really solid. Not as good as a real tank mind you, but with a real tank I can do heroics 4 with 2 people, so I don't need a 'real' tank. Gear him with defence stuff, and defence augments if you haven't. Always start the fight with him shielded but the no-reshield debuff about to expire in a few seconds. Go maximum damage (don't save force) on your first enemy (ideally your only enemy because you CC'd the rest... but I seldomly bother unless they're elites or strongs) then after 6 seconds toss another shield on Qyzen then more bursty goodness until he's ready for another shield then more bursty goodness - it's rare you get to cast a third bubble on him. Don't be afraid to interrupt your stone throwing to hit a quick interrupt, and don't forget the stun when the enemy is about halfway dead - not because you need it, but so you don't need any healing at the end of the fight, heh. If it's a boss don't be afraid to burn all interrupts including force speeding towards the boss and force wav-ing him away from a big cast. If not CCing because it's not an option, or you're lazy, weak targets are the priority. heck even if you're CCing, still break the elite/strong as last. Not sure if this helps anyone, but perhaps it will.
  3. I would also settle for a crapload more bursts.... I still find it ludicrous there's a discussion of 22 pages on the changes to the animation, which was fine-ish before (needed damage timing adjusted, maybe, though it worked as surprise mini-burst if properly timed) and which is now still fine-ish, but the glaring problems with the class, namely being a glass cannon without the cannon, yeah, let's ignore those. Give us a cannon, or take away the glass please. And to stay on topic, I don't dislike the new animation, it's fine. I liked the old one a bit better when I could time it properly. Not loosing sleep either way.
  4. Unfortunately this is the truth. If you're a DPS sage, you do not have more DPS than other DPS classes, you do not have more burst than other classes. You are however a lot more fragile and are a priority target, to the point that smart sages don't use a lightsaber to not stand out in a crowd. Glass Cannon without the cannon bit is about right. Of course healer Sages do just fine when paired with tanks. DPS sages can do 'ok' paired with tanks too, but that's one tank that could be defending a healer, and you still need a healer keeping you and the tank up from focus fire... Of course, in chaotic fights amongst less skilled players, you'll do just fine, since you'll be in the back and people won't bother you much. But when fighting more skilled people, they'll bee-line straight for you the second they realize you're not a guarded healer.
  5. Just FYI to people in general, the file under windows XP is located here, where XXXXXX is the name of your username in windows. C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXXX\Local Settings\Application Data\SWTOR\swtor\settings\GUIProfiles However, I can't find any option in there that enables to just scale the item tooltip text without scaling the entire UI. Of course, chances are that's the way to go, scale the entire thing up, and then scale down the individual items. As for the OP's problem, I do wonder, did you by any chance increase the resolution? that will have the effect of making everything not scaled appear smaller...
  6. For what it's worth, I understand some of what the OP is talking about. I love the way my sage plays. But I also was like WTH, endless supply of tiny rocks, THAT is what I do?! Ugh. How very Jedi Like. I mastered the force to ... throw pebbles. Nice. So I did have some serious issues with how the powers looked, not how they played. If I had been "hurling raw force that disturbs and damages my enemies" or "creating a wave of disturbance in the force that slows down and tears at enemies" I could have gotten more behind that, etc etc, but whatever. I also think we have by far the worst companions ever. Specially when compared to the knight. Lastly, I thought our story was pretty neat and fun... until i tried a jedi knight's and then I was like OMG that was so much fun I just don't know what to do. I prefer the way my sage plays, by a lot, but I love having companions I care about as a knight, real dark and light choices that truly tempted me (I fell to temptation several times in spite my original determination to simply not do it) and so I stopped playing for a while until I resolve my inner conflict.
  7. I have a question to the more knowledgeable/experienced people in the class: If one of the sage's DPS spec were a bit more melee, or if necessary, thrown saber dependent, why would it be over powered if it simply replaced some abilities? Ie let's say you gain X DPS from melee, but you loose the same X DPS from lack of some spec (plus you also have to like, close into melee range, and risk damage) If it is OP, I'd like to understand why, and if it isn't, perhaps it wouldn't be bad per say to have this, as it could add some extra Jedi-flavor to the class?
  8. It will run, it should be playable at lower resolutions. (max 1024 x 768, and perhaps as low as 800 x 600)
  9. I must say I too would welcome an option that disables chat during cutscenes. Instead I now have chat disabled during questing and only turn it on during downtime (it is annoying to click on it during cutscenes, it breaks the immersion factor) Ah well, a minor improvement for sure, but I still think it would be welcome.
  10. If ctrl+right click doesn't work, that particular light saber may simply not be modifiable. Get a better one
