JUST CANCLED MY ACCOUNT
About me: I am a pvp fan and my First mmo was star wars galaxies , I unlocked Jedi after 6 months of grinding it only to have the hard work taken away with the NGE patch. Played Nge for a while the game was still good but after sony took away the hard work people put into jedi and creature handler among other things. The game became kinda a ghost town. It became evident that removing "players hard work" or "carrot on a stick" hurts mmo's.
I went to world of warcraft played 2 Arena seasons as a hunter, I found the pvp to be skill based and rewarding with gear upgrades based on your level of skill. I achieved duelist for 2 seasons. I rolled a disc priest to play with 2 friends and achived Gladiator 5 times.
Looking back I realize what kept me subscribed to wow for so long was these few things.
1. Gear upgrades based on skill level but just enough welfare gear for casuals that most the population is happy.
2. Titles based purely on skill level not welfare attainable , except for the .01% of population that would buy a title by paying for a arena carry.
Conclusion: Carrot on a stick keeps everyone playing towards a goal. Elites such as myself are not pleased with a game unless there is gear & title only attainable by performing at the highest skill level. By homogenizing these few things bioware has lost my subscription and Im traveling towards the world of panda land now.
