  1. How is it we play the same class, yet I've never had any problems. Especially problems that would make me unsub or change my idea of the game. If you're dying from boss AoE's in a group, then you need a better healer. If you're dying against bosses solo, then I suggest using Quinn and any of the MANY tanking abilities we're given. Or kill the boss with a group. And if you don't have enough credits for level 3 mount training, try harder making credits. I hit 50 with 680k credits in my inventory. After buying ALL of my training, I'm starting to build that up again with dailies. It really isn't so hard that you have to quit...
  2. Here I am with Daniel Erickson at the E3 meet and greet.(I put an exceedingly silly grin on my face while he borrowed some of my hair lol)

Just a picture I used as a default on Facebook a while back.

Aaaaand here's one of me and a bunch of my friends on New Year's Eve. I'm pretty much right in the middle. Let's see if you can spot me! XD (FYI; Please don't get offended, those are not gang signs they're doing with their hands)

  3. These are just a couple ideas that popped into my head while I was playing. Wanted to post them now before I forget.

My first suggestion has to do with the Sith Warrior ability Vicious Throw.

    Vicious Throw

    Instant

    Rage: 3

    Cooldown: 6 secs

    Range: 10 m

Throws the main-hand lightsaber at a target, dealing 1186-1404 energy damage. Only usable on targets at or below 20% max health.

I feel like this ability should have the same range as Saber Throw.

    Saber Throw

    Instant

    Cooldown: 30 secs

    Range: 10-30m

Throws the main-hand lightsaber at a distant target, inflicting 585-720 damage and building 3 rage.

I realize Vicious Throw is a pretty nice insta-crit with really fast CD, but it honestly feels kind of silly having to be so close to the target in order to THROW my saber. Since it can only be used at or below 20% HP, I barely use it anyway except in situations where someone is running from me or I want to finish off a distant mob. This is especially true in PvP situations. In order for me to use this crit I have to catch up to someone who's trying to run off and heal, instead of being able to throw my saber at an effective range. I'd also like to add that I think it would be cool to have a different animation for Vicious Throw. Looks kinda lame when you chain both throws together >.<

Anyway, the other suggestion I have is pertaining to the exhaustion zones separating Mos Ila and Anchorhead from the rest of the world map on Tatooine. When I fly from Mos Ila to the first stop, I can clearly see that there's a map there, with mobs and everything. All you'd have to do is remove the exhaustion and I think it would make for some really interesting PvP situations. There could be some really awesome battles in that valley.

I know they're totally unrelated, like I said, I just wanted to post them before I forget. I'd love to hear what you guys think! Thanks for reading, and may the force be with you!

  4. My guess:

Straw #1 - The game didn't miracle itself on his computer without him ever having opened the box.

Straw #2 - Bioware didn't pay him a $8K monthly stipend to play.

    Straw #3 - He didn't win the box-duel.

Straw #4 - Installing the game didn't automatically upgrade his computer hardware.

This literally made me lmao XD

  5. I went into this game, feeling like a fresh start, and it's exactly what I got. After playing SWTOR for merely 3 weeks, I've already forgotten any other MMO I played. This is like my first MMO experience all over again, and I'm LOVING it :D
  6. it's funny how i keep reading the "i cancelled my subscription X days ago" quote.

The thing is you can't post on this forum without a current subscription to the game..

So much trolling in this place.

People keep comparing this game to wow, and complaining about how many things need to be added.... i love it the way it is now; sure, many improvments can be done, but wow can also be improved. And i'm sure tOR will get better by the time.

Just have fun and stop analyzing the game so much!

    /agree 100% :)

  7. I think people like you and I are actually the majority in this game. Nearly all of my guildmates feel the same way. Sure there are bugs and there are improvements to be made, but they aren't the sort of thing we'll be quitting over any time soon. I just thought it might be nice for me to post this compilation of issues that I've encountered and heard others in my guild commenting on, without all the QQ /ragequit I see in other posts on these forums.

I feel the same. The majority of the people enjoying the game are too busy to post on the forums XD And I would like to see improvements, which will come in due time. Just makes patch day all the more exciting. Really good to see a constructive thread such as yours without all the unnecessary hate :D

  8. /agree with everything as well as agree with loving this game. Makes me sad to see people abandoning ship because of bugs like these. I mean, they can be annoyances, but they're small annoyances in relation to how sturdy the game feels in general. Obviously, this is only my opinion, and I don't think many agree with me. But I would definitely love it if BioWare banged out a bunch of these minor fixes, just to restore some faith in the community.

Appreciate the post! Good to see some constructive criticism. Have fun! And may the force be with you :D

    P.S.

    • Guild Roster doesn't show when offline characters were last online

You can change the way the guild roster is filtered, and one of the filter options is last online. Hope that helps!

  9. Like many people, I was extremely bored with WoW and decided to come play this game instead. One of my chief problems was that WoW seemed to just make rotations more complex every expansion, as opposed to introducing interesting new mechanics. Many of the specs became an irritating logistical nightmare, and began to feel more like a flight simulator than a game. So, I came here hoping for something different...

...and it's worse. Every class I have played is insanely overburdened with a pile of abilities that are really purposeless except to introduce complexity for complexity's sake. For example, numerous classes have abilities that are just stronger versions of existing abilities except on a cooldown. That's not a fun or interesting mechanic. With the exception of the brilliant cover system, the majority of each class' core combat mechanics revolve around a series of flavor-less cooldowns and procs.

I've seen some people suggest a Rift-like macro system to solve this problem, but that seems like a lazy solution. A system that allows you to effectively ignore many of your abilities is awkward when you can simply solve the problem by getting rid of the offending abilities.

None of this is a complaint about difficulty. I don't think it's terribly difficult to keep track of all these cooldowns and procs... but that doesn't mean it's fun. Staring at my action bars isn't fun, but that's what I find myself doing the higher my level. I've got this beautiful game in front of me, and I'm staring at icons. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can justify continuing my subscription if this isn't fixed very soon, which is a shame, because I love everything else about this game.

Coming from all the other MMOs I played, I used to be a partial clicker. I would bind SOME of my keys to attacks I needed to hit quickly, but I was never good enough to bind everything. With SWTOR, I promised myself I would be a better player, and boy did BioWare really force me to apply myself. I kept leveling and getting new attacks and I felt like there's no way I can use all this!! Yet I continued to keybind and to learn new keybinds. I now have all attacks and all defensive abilities (I'm a Jugg) keybound. Trust me, there's a lot. And I've learned to use it all to the point to where I can actually watch the cool animations in the fight rather than my quickbar. For the most part I know when to hit certain abilities and when to build my rage back up. It's funny because it feels like BioWare shaped me into a better MMO player with this wide range of abilities. Plus, I personally feel it adds a bit more strategy to how you play. Instead of the same 6 or 7 attacks to have on one rotation, you get a LOT of options for you to use in different situations.

Anyway, I understand your point about being overwhelmed by abilities, as was I. But I adapted to it in a way I never have before, and I feel like I've come out of a better player. Remember; practice makes perfect. Wish you luck on your adventures friend! And may the force be with you :)

  10. 1. Bad or cartoon-y looking graphics.

    > Its called stylized graphics. SW:TOR's graphics are not designed to be photo-realistic so that they will not look dated in a year or two. If you want photo-realism, play BF3 (great game EA).

    2. Linear storyline.

    > SW:TOR is a story-line driven game. All MMORPGs with experienced-based character leveling are by nature linear to some extent. SW:TOR is unique in that at each step in the storyline, you can make decisions from multiple paths that will affect the destiny of your character.

    3. No open world. I dont like exhaustion or boundaries.

    > Its a big galaxy, did you expect to be able to ride a speeder from one planet to another? Exhaustion and boundaries are part of every MMORPG including WoW. No game world goes on forever.

    4. No dungeon finder.

    > Type /who and hit enter. You can find people who are LFG and in the zone where you are questing or doing heroics. Dungeon finders, especially x-server destroy MMO communities and distort character progression by removing players from the flow of the game and rewarding bad behavior. Server communities are self policing, if you behave badly, you will be removed from your flashpoint or heroic group and likely remembered so be a team player and help your group.

    5. No x-server warzone finder.

    > Just click the Republic or Empire button and wait, you can queue with a group from your guild or server. See #4 for x-server issues and their effect on server communities. If you want a mindless, anonymous pvp grind, SW:TOR is not the game for you.

    6. No flying mounts.

    > You have your own space ship, you can go anywhere in the galaxy in an instant. What more do you want?

    7. Companion crafting and gathering.

    > You have more than one of your own personal valet, bodygaurd, cyber-@#$ toy, servant or slave. Yes, you have to equip it and give it gifts. What more do you want?

    8. SW:TOR is boring, cut scenes and voice acting are time consuming and a waste of time.

    > Voice acting and cut scenes are a key part of the game. If you have MMORPG ADHD, try ritalin. If that doesnt work, SW:TOR is not the game for you. Group or social gameplay is strongly encouraged. If you dont play well with others, there are some parts of the game that you will not experience.

    9. SW:TOR is not a true MMORPG.

    > By whose standard? It may not be the MMORPG you are used to but SW:TOR is definitely an MMO-ROLE-PG. Take it from a role-player, SW:TOR is a role-players wet dream.

    10. SW:TOR is buggy.

    > More than 3 years and hundreds of millions of dollars in development. Take it from a software developer, software development is an imperfect process. BioWare does it better than most. Given the size and scope of SW:TOR, the game is remarkably stable and bug free. If you find a bug, report it. Remember that THE LACK OF A FEATURE THAT YOU WANT IS NOT A BUG. BioWare's programmers are bug-stomping as you read this.

Total :ph_win: sir! Thank you for this post :)

  11. You assume that those bugs will get fixed.

There are people that know those bugs have been here for months in beta.

There are bugs that aren't bugs, but features(big butt robes).

There are so many issues that in year some of them will still be here.

If game can get up after year.

As it is, it'll hold your attention only so long. And then people quit, when bad sides overwhelm enjoyment. And since one of issues is empty world, even more people will quit, creating a snowball.

And after those issues are fixed(if at all), it'll be hard to pull players back. Even those that quit to come back in few months.

Also, remember that for many people problem doesn't lie in lack of fixes, but in lack of recognizing that those bugs even exist, or that there are plans to fix it in future closer than "someday(when we get bored)"

You assume the developers don't listen. There are features they altered/re-added/taken out because of test results. You assume there are enough problems for a mass exodus by the time they're fixed.

They have proven that they do pay attention to the costumers. If there are largely reported bugs, then they will be fixed. Just because they don't respond to every single thread doesn't mean they don't recognize what needs to be fixed.

My faith remains in BioWare. I see no reason to give up on them so soon.

  12. OP, I agree. There's a wide variety of personalities though with all sorts of agendas for being here. When you're talking single-player action, grouping up, PVP, end-game, alts, etc., there's no way anyone can make a game that everyone likes. I'm sure some people who don't like the game will call you a "fanboy" because....well, that's the only way they can rationalize anyone else liking the game. But if the forums have to be littered with their "farewell" threads and "this game is doomed" threads, then I'm glad to see a thread from someone else that is really enjoying the game too. You have as much right to express your joy for the game as they do their complaints.

Aye, that's unfortunately the nature of the beast nowadays. Gamers just want to always faction themselves. Thank you for the support :D

How about massive game stopping features that all modern MMOs have, does that get in the way?

Would you mind explaining to me what features you're referring to?

Look, mate, don't feed the trolls. You are enjoying the game, and like me, you don't find the bugs that are in there to be show-stoppers at the moment. Good for us.

Nowhere in your post did you statet that people where not allowed to discuss bugs on the forums, just that these negative threads tend to get old and silly really fast. It's the nature of the forums.

You don't have to defend yourself against these people. If you ignore them they wont go away, but they aren't reading what you write anyway so don't spend your time on them.

Have fun in the game, and hope to gank you some time :)

You're totally right my friend, I just can't help myself at times. Appreciate it :D

And you better bring your A-game buddy ;)

  13. You can report bugs in game and I bet they get more attention than someone complaining they are unsubscribing on the forums. I remember seeing similar threads all the time about people quitting or unsubscribing from WoW and you know what? No one ever cares if you quit or unsubscribe or hate the game. All they do is make fun of you and ask for your stuff lol.

All these people complaining on these forums and threatening to quit totally reminds me of this video

Yes it's about WoW but it absolutely applies here as well.

Lots of truth here, including the video which was hilarious XD

So, you are a masochist, you like to endure badly coded games with aweful gameplay and still enjoy it.

Do you honestly think that the problems you listed there should not be fixed because you still enjoy the game? Its a deal breaker for many

Masochist, or fanboy, take ur pick

I dunno where people are getting the idea that I DON'T want bugs to be fixed? That's just weird, why would I think that bugs should be left alone lol.

If you think the gameplay is awful, then don't play man. All I'm saying is, I endure more crap than most and I still enjoy it because it's a fun game for me. EXTREMELY fun.

By the way, if it's so badly coded, then go ahead and do better ;)

  14. And at the same time, automatically dismissing bugs and complaints because you are assuming they'll all be fixed in a patch is just as bad as doomsaying.

Noooo way man, I would never dismiss bugs. I think you got the wrong idea lol. I don't just assume they'll be fixed. I support the threads out there that constructively report bugs and issues. There are things that I want to be fixed. My problem is the people who see that there are bugs and just sound the doom alarm like it's all just gonna fail now because of it.

  15. Since this is a positive thread about the game it will probably fall to page 2 or 3 within a few minutes since people only seem to reply en masse to the negative threads. I believe this is because the people that are enjoying the game are playing it and the people that hate the game don't want to see a positive thread on the first page, and everyone that likes the game feels the need to defend it in the negative threads.

For the life of me I don't know why anyone would waste their time on forums for a game they don't like or hate why even bother. I don't like WoW so I don't go on their forums I don't like Baseball so I don't go on Baseball forums, if you don't like this game why are you even here to begin with?

Well anyways I'm gonna give this thread a bump because positive threads need love too.

Yes I totally believe the same. That's why I said that I think most of the negative folks by now stick around just to bring the morale of the community down. Don't get me wrong, there are a few threads out there that constructively portray the bugs that bother those people and that they should be fixed. I support that, I notice bugs that I want fixed as well. But when all the person can say is how they're gonna laugh when this game sinks 3 months from now, then all they're doing is trolling and it doesn't do anyone else a bit of good.

    Appreciate the bump, friend! :i_biggrin:

  16. Subjective things will be subjectively debated. Or, I should say, one set of people will say one thing, and another set of people will say another, and so on. To call it actual debate would be an insult to debating.

You like the game. Good for you. In a spirit of fairness I feel it only appropriate to point out that not everyone does, or will.

In the end, we will see how many do & don't, and no thread on any forum will decide that.

Gosh this post got all deep...

While I am glad your personal experience has been at least decent so far, that does not mean that your experience is the same as everyone elses.

Do not presume to judge everyone else based solely on your experience.

I agree with both of you. My experience is that of an individual, and can't dictate how everyone else's experiences will be. If people simply don't enjoy the game, then there's nothing I can say about that. That's their opinion. But what I'm fed up with, is all the people posting about bugs here and there and then jumping to the whole "LOL THIS GAME IS BROKEN IT WILL FAIL." I've seen a lot of that, and it got to me a little.
