  1. Just make a thread of this, lock it, and sticky it.

Then maybe we wouldn't have to deal with these sorts of threads.

This. I understand that Bioware does not want people to get overly excited about things that may not come when they want but keeping people very much in the dark about the details and nature of things, requiring them to dig deep into the net to find certain items, and being at times overly wordy with the responses is really not helping to reduce the anxieties of many players. I'm not one to get worked up over what I'm not being told but many people are and threads like this, plus the heated debates caused by them, could be easily avoided with a sticky list that gives clear information about upcoming changes or additions for a major patch.

You can always put a disclaimer at the very top in large, bolded text that reminds people anything on the list is subject to change or delay at any given time. The players and forum goers could go to this sticky and see what is planned and you may be surprised how many people you'll satisfy, retain, and maybe even bring back with something like this. I can tell you this much if I knew that the next major patch was planned to be bringing Feature A and it got me excited and I was getting details on it AS they develop it that would make me feel like I'm 'in the loop' instead of a dog sitting at the table wondering when a scrap is going to hit the floor. There are times when I really want to know what's coming next that will hold my interest and I don't want to hear "a feature that we think you will enjoy".

I mean for crap's sake you guys have been teasing about full 3D space combat. Give us some early info on it. What stage is it at? What is the direction? In what timeframe do you hope to have it in? I'm sure there are plenty of people here who would stick around just simply KNOWING what you're working on and not be teased with possibilities. My 20 cents anyways.

  2. I think that's a reasonable conclusion except for what I've highlighted in your quote. I don't think it's coming.

Yeah the answer he gave kind of left me a bit skeptical but at the same time I can see why the devs would want to go that route with an answer. Considering the backlash the community gives any time something isn't released "when they said" I have no doubt his response in this manner was intentional to prevent expectations. I just figured that with the recent financial report apparently claiming that 1.3 is aimed to be released before the end of the quarter (June 30th) and that Ranked Warzones are still not even on a PTS patch it was a fairly sound conclusion that if that feature didn't find itself in its own patch very soon that the next best scenario is that it is rolled into 1.3.

  3. Where did you get this information? There is no mention of RWZs happening with or around 1.3 in the Podcast.

    Stephen Reid's twitter page.

The tweets were made May 10th.

A guy asked, "before you guys release ranked wz will you put it back on the pts for us to make sure it's good to go?". To which Reid replied "that's the plan". The next tweet from the same guy asked, "so I take it from that it will be up when 1.3 goes pts?". Reid replied, "that's the the hope".

Considering how the question was worded which I couldn't figure out as meaning "before 1.3" or "in 1.3" I took the safe road and used both.

  4. I was simply pointing out how it works in other games. But like I said you don't have to take my word for it, we can just wait and see when it comes.

I'll make you a deal. If the character transfers come out and they don't do freebies from low to high, I'll send my sister to rub your feet. Don't worry. She's attractive.

  5. Having read both twitters either view is valid.

His first answer 'it's getting closer' is a statement of the bleeding obvious.

His second could have been just 'Yes' or 'yes , free transfers will be available to high pop severs'. His actual answer is not conclusive, you have interpreted it one way and someone else has interpreted it differently, either could be correct.

Sigh. Sanxxx, here you are in this thread with me after our little spat in the last one and now I have to show you respect for your answer. Awkward. :p

  6. No you're adding words to the message. "Yes free transfers will be available." that does not say 'from low to high'. You don't seem to understand how he has worded it avoids actually answering your question.

You also seem to have no idea how business works with game companies. Want an example? Look at WoW. Do they do free transfers from Low to High servers? No. It's High to Low. These work to spread the population out amongst other servers until...yes you got it right...there will be less heavy pop severs but also less low pop servers too. The alternative, as I stated would result in Full servers and empty servers. Not gonna happen.

It's honestly not a difficult concept. But don't take my word on it, just wait and see.

So basically what you're saying is that even when asking a direct question he didn't directly answer me? Just like Dallas Dickinson didn't directly answer roughly the same question two weeks ago in the weekly Q&A? I'm sorry but when I ask a direct question, not leaving any room for interpretation, and I get an answer... that's what I go with. I'm not going to leave it up to you to help me decide if they're not telling the truth.

I'm not sure if you have any idea what is going on with this game right now. People don't want to be 'spread out'. They want to be 'bunched in'. They've made their voices loud and clear on that. If Bioware goes the route you're suggesting it will not help anything. It will just add even more fuel to an already heated little fire here. That's not a good business move on their part. Considering I've been there to watch three companies I've worked for collapse because they tried to spread out instead of consolidate and grow slowly outwards again I know very well what that does regardless of which industry you're in. When you spread things out like that you're gambling big time. After losing 400,000 subs in a 3-month span I don't think a gamble is something they want to do.

Also, comparing TOR to WoW for server populations is laughable. WoW has a playerbase that they can easily do things like that with and not worry about backlash. TOR does not have that luxury right now.

P.S. - Please not that when I said laughable it wasn't an insult towards you. I guess just a lack of words coming to mind.

  7. "We're getting closer. And yes, free transfers will be available."

Is what he said. Now that to me simply means the transfers will be free. He doesn't however, specifically state from Low to High. So I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Did you even go to my Twitter page where he answered both of my questions in one shot? I specifically asked him if there would be free transfers from low pop servers to high pop servers. Yes, that is the scenario. He answered my question. My god this is the second time today that I've had to point out that someone just completely failed to comprehend what was being asked and what the answer was.

  8. Those were brand new servers though, not already Heavily populated.

There are only a handful of servers that are heavy even on good days. For the last two days there have been 60+ servers that are light. So you think that dispersing the heavy pop servers to the low ones will make up for that? You're out of your mind. Even assuming that those on servers that are heavy, to which The Fatman is the only one that is consistently full, will actually choose to go to Light servers... all you'll manage to do is have no servers at all that are heavy or higher. Some servers will be standard and thus barely getting by for adequate player populations and many, many servers will still be light. The problem won't be solved.

The more sound scenario is to give people a choice to get off their light server, not requiring them to pay for such a thing because that's just a big middle finger, and essentially consolidate populations to fewer servers. Then you shut down the servers that are now truly dread, merge their inactive characters to a server that Bioware chooses, and hold them in reserve in the event the game grows and many of your servers are overwhelmed.

  9. Sadly you will be sorely disappointed if that's what you believe.

Think about it for a second...if BW allow free tranfers from Low to Heavy...Heavy becomes Full = long login queues = complaints a plenty. Low Pop server is then totally empty = BW has to shut down a collection of servers = BW looks to be failing in the eyes of the investors and public.

No, what will happen is free transfers from Heavy to Low. And let's just see how many players will willingly leave their nice, busy server to try and populate a ghost town.

I don't have to believe in it. Stephen Reid told me so.

    Fourth post from the bottom.

  10. They started to make it in 2007, 2013 sounds very realistic. Zenimax isnt sadistic and like to hype game 3 years and keep fans in pain. Elder Scroll Online is real deal, raiding, dungeons, 3 faction PVP zone, (Warhammer on Steroids), balanced PVP eSport kind of pvp, some fress ideas likes shared combo points, player can be Emperor.

You mentioned hype. It sounds like you're buying into it already. Learn your lesson from TOR. Don't listen to the hype. The moment you say that an MMO not coming out for likely a year and a half at the earliest is "the real deal" you're already setting yourself up.

  11. I find it simply amazing how they can fail this, but reality is this is just another 1-2 month MMORPG for most of us. Elder Scroll Online is where my hopes are up.

Just gonna warn ya, that game likely won't be around any time soon. If this game is just not doing it for you I'd look to MMOs that are coming out sooner. ESO will probably take about 2 years to hit store shelves. It was just announced.

  12. Ahhhh so if you were at say a Steakhouse and another customer called over the manager because they were not happy.. YOU would but your nose in and defend the restaurant, regardless of the complaint... NICE.. that I would like to see on youtube...... Let me know when you do that :)

BTW.. in the real world when customers do express their dissatisifaction they normally get a response.. So when I get an official response from Bioware, I"ll stop complaining.. LOL See how that works?

Did I say I would do that? No I didn't. I wouldn't jump to their defense and I would say that anyone who does is being ridiculous because even if they were given what they felt they paid for someone else didn't feel the same and that's their deal not mine. What I would do is tell that customer to shut up and leave already because they've made their point after being there for an hour or more making a stink. Especially if the place is swamped.

The thing is, here in this thread you're not actually arguing with the restaurant employees, managers, or owner. Right now you're arguing with other customers in an attempt to convince them that since your steak was bad and not made to order then so is theirs. Again, in that situation I would tell you to shut up and leave already. As I would the people who insist on arguing with you that their steak is fine and you're just being stupid.

I am well aware of how things go down in the 'real world'. As if I'm some kind of basement dweller who never had a job. I've had plenty of them dealing with customers who range from polite and understanding to aggressive and ignorant. The difference between you walking into a Gamestop and complaing compared to complaining on these forums is that in Gamestop you are dealing directly with the employees who are not also hearing complaints from hundreds to thousands of people all at the same time. They are able to jump to your needs immediately especially considering it does not require any programming skills or finding you personally among a crowd of loudmouths all with their own issues. Another difference being that here you are not even directly contacting the entity you have a problem with. You are making remarks on a forum towards other customers that can be viewed, at best, as passive criticism to the company.

Basically, if you have a complaint send an e-mail to the devs. Put in an in-game ticket even. Here in this thread you're not actually addressing them directly. The only people you are directly addressing are other customers in some attempt to convince them that your viewpoint is correct. Bioware MAY take notice of what you're saying. Chances are they won't. They have thousands of people making thousands of posts here. How do you like your odds that your viewpoint will be seen? You're doing it very wrong if your goal is to inform Bioware of your displeasure. Besides you could have just said it once here and be done with it.

  13. It makes me a dissatisified customer .. :) Just like the one that calls over the manager because I was told I can get my steak anyway I want, and instead of getting it medium, it comes well done...... I'm sure as heck NOT paying the bill and leaving without saying a word.. Do you think NO ONE informs companies when they are not pleased with product or service.... MOST companies in the REAL world welcome it, it's the only way for them to learn what the market wants, and accommodate..

I'm not sure a dissatisfied customer is what I'd call it. Because I've worked with people I could label as that. They make their viewpoint known and then leave. They don't stick around to puke it out again and again. They also don't attempt to argue with the other customers who disagree. Those that do are not simply dissatisfied customers. Those are people who, just like the people you call out for defending it, can't seem to take it that other people have a different view.

  14. Your post is irrelevant to the topic at hand. As most times, when fans of the game run out of logic, they resort to personal attacks or pigeonholing.

Happens all the time. WELL WE LIKE THE GAME AN YOUR JUST A HATER............thats the general comeback, and its just lame........

Bio screwed up REALLY REALLY BAD, AND THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT THEY DID/DIDNT DO.....See thats the part alot of you 'fans' dont get....No accountability.....

Oh be quiet. He was referring to someone whose post was also 'irrelevant' in the beginning and actually an attempted insult at those who enjoy the game and disagree with them. The only reason you're calling him out and not the other person is because the other person shares a similar viewpoint with you.

  15. I take it.. you just don't get it.. Have you ever played a true RPG game before.. When I mean RPG, I'm talking something like AD&D or SWG or EQ.. Where you roll your character and YOU make your own story by just going with the flow of what is happening around you..... TOR is a scripted linear ride.. The options to deviate from said ride is limited to none.. This isn't role playing, the role was already been scripted FOR me by Bioware, all I'm doing is just clicking the chat bubbles......

The lack of freedom and options in TOR is blinding.. As I said, this game plays like a console scripted game you buy for the Xbox.. NOT one you buy for the PC to play a serious MMORPG..

    You didn't answer his question.

  16. Actually if I'd have had to deal with paragraphs it wouldn't have been a problem reading the bleating wall of text that had nothing to do with the thread.

Will you unsubscribe if 1.3 isn't out by the end of May ? ( FYI, I still have a subscription)

Lol if you think that is a wall of text you haven't been around forums for very long. What I posted is only a slightly above average-length parapgraph. Get over it.

I have contributed to this thread quite a bit so I felt it was fine to take one post and just go off the subject a bit. Can you deal with that?

  17. Why do people have to make big whiny posts when they leave? Why can't they just leave? Do they think they will be missed or something?

It's really some sad attempt at self-validation. The only ones worse than them are the slobbering idiots who give them attention. Both for and against them. Waging some little battle as if the fate of the game hangs in the balance. Knowing full well that anyone on the other side is not going to change their mind even if they were given 'favors' behind a curtain or in another room. The general forums are really just a cesspool of stupidity. Infact, I feal stupid for adding to this whole thing.

  18. Welcome to the TOR forums (and the internet for that matter). Everyone knows what they're talking about. They could do things a hundred or a thousand or a million times better or they know someone who can use paragraphs. You're always wrong. Even if you prove them wrong they're still right. They're little corner of the universe and the people in it are the only ones who can use paragraphs. Miniscule evidence is blown out of proportion and irrefutable evidence is disregarded as it suits someone. Opinions are facts unless it's coming from someone elses paragraphs.Where people will say, "please don't use paragraphs" followed quickly by some form of saying "use paragraphs". Any attempts to use paragraphs is grounds for being a fanboy. Colon criticism is labeled as hatred. Correcting a paragraph will get you labeled either way depending on the situation. Where short paragraphs , long paragraphs, and total garbage paragraphs get far more attention than anything constructive or conducive to civil discussion. Where people will engage in the most childishly disgusting paragraphs by claiming that they're not being heard, rejoicing when they feel they have used the return key, then within moments forgetting what just transpired and going right back to bsckspace that no attention is being given to them. I wish this place had more paragraphs.

Just like I have to deal with people like my post describes you have to deal with paragraphs. It must have been hard for you. Going to school and having to read without a break every sentence or two. You poor thing.

  19. why? because the game is lacking so many things for make it competitive at this point that they cant come all together in 1.3, in the way they have be doing the things, they need to pick between Ranked WZ or LFG, both a need for this game atm, they also need to work on server merges or transfers.

It seems that Ranked Warzones are either planned to be out before 1.3 or rolled into it which means they will be added shortly before or with LFG. It doesn't look like they plan to make a choice. They're shooting for both in a rather short timeframe. Hopefully transfers come in early Summer like they said they wanted them to for those poor people who have been stuck on dead servers with not much hope. The addition of Ranked Warzones and LFG will mean little to those people who have no chance to get into that content the old fashioned way. The fact that they will be having free transfers from low pop to higher pop servers shows, I feel, that they understand the situation and must make good on it.

I will say this. These next 6 months are looking like they will be the deciding timeframe for whether or not TOR can maintain its 1 million+ subs or watch it sink to levels that 'lesser' MMOs are at now. If they can hold steady around 1 million subs until they're able to start generating interest for the game's first expansion I think the game will take off again. If they undergo a plummet that sees them shooting down towards the 500k or less mark, well then it will be rough sailing for quite awhile and not very likely to be something they can bounce back from. Just my opinion. No facts here.

  20. Not much room in this thread with all the armchairs. :D

Welcome to the TOR forums (and the internet for that matter). Everyone knows what they're talking about. They could do things a hundred or a thousand or a million times better or they know someone who can. You're always wrong. Even if you prove them wrong they're still right. They're little corner of the universe and the people in it are the only ones who count. Miniscule evidence is blown out of proportion and irrefutable evidence is disregarded as it suits someone. Opinions are facts unless it's coming from someone else. Where people will say, "please don't listen to those people" followed quickly by some form of saying "listen only to me". Any attempts to even mildly defend something is grounds for being a fanboy. Constructive criticism is labeled as hatred. Correcting a false claim will get you labeled either way depending on the situation. Where cry baby threads, troll threads, and total garbage threads get far more attention than anything constructive or conducive to civil discussion. Where people will engage in the most childishly disgusting behavior patterns by claiming that they're not being heard, rejoicing when they feel they have been, then within moments forgetting what just transpired and going right back to screaming that no attention is being given to them. I wish this place had a bar.
