  1. It's nothing new to MMO's, gear progression is what keeps many players playing, regardless of the small jump in stats. On the flip side, it has to seem attainable for new players, no-one's going to want to join a game a year or so in and see they are required to work through three or four tiers of progression to catch up with everyone else.
  2. Portable cover increases ranged defence by 20%, which means you're less likely to be hit with white damage attacks, despite the appearance the bonus is in effect from all directions and it also prevents you from being interrupted during channel time and protects you from most Charge/Leap attacks. You also have the option of using Natural Cover (Scenery), which gives you the same bonuses, additionally if you keep your head down while in Natural cover you'll take no damage from incoming direct attacks from enemies infront of you (shown by a green shield over the NPC/Players head) AOE attacks will still damage you. All Trees use Cover to some degree, although If you're after a more mobile Gunslinger option, take a look at the Dirty Fighting tree or DF/Sab Hybrids.
  3. Indeed, Independent Anarchy buffs the damage of Shrap bomb the same way it buffs any other AOE.
  4. Yup, Quite a few of us are still around on Red Eclipse (Myself, Kili and a few other names you probably remember.) with a few more planning to return tomorrow after the F2P shift. /Beer&Pie
  5. Chimaera traditions - Friday was Cheerleader day as I recall. I must admit I did consider doing one of these the moment we got server specific forums Regardless, G'mornin Eclipsers.
  6. Yea, The priority system (Amount of time played > A reserved name on a low level alt) worked out quite well for original NML players. Some of the players who had moved to NML and had to go through a name change a few months ago will be a little disheartened though.
  7. Always good to see you guys still around
  8. 5/7 names retained, that's good enough for me, the other two were low level FOTM's I'd become bored with anyway.
  9. Yes, it's a little close to Speed shot, as I mentioned though - it does grow on you over time.
  10. I must admit, I was a little disappointed when I first observed it on PTS, although after a few Warzones it has grown on me somewhat - reminds me of the Smuggler scene in the Return trailer, something that was never really represented in-game.
  11. As I'm sure you've noticed by now, Gunslingers/Smugglers received a few minor changes as part of 1.4. Unfortunately not everyone has the time to download PTS (or perhaps missed an earlier opportunity to have a character copied across) as such I thought you might like to see some of the new Elite War Hero weapons and the new Wounding shots animation for Dirty fighting specced Gunslingers. Elite War-Hero Field Medic blaster. Elite War-Hero Field Tech blaster If you'd like images or videos of any of the other changes that went in with 1.4 or just have a question, feel free to ask.
  12. I agree, however it's now open to everyone, which is a start.
  13. This forum has always been here for those of us who write for Fansites/Press, although up to today its been private and hidden from the masses (actually, I see the old one still is, now we have two ). Regardless of where it's located this has the potential to be a very busy forum with a wealth of collected links to Fansite content and feedback.
  14. That's a shame, the Eurogamer SWTOR stand and the after show party last year were rather fun, hopefully another opportunity will present itself sometime in the future.
  15. I messed about with this build a few weeks ago on PTS, it's a load of fun and your first few targets will drop very quickly (the last 30% of your opponents health is a blur ) Those energy costs really mount up though. Still, it IS amusing to play.
  16. You're on the right track so far, the Template Riiquiem lists is one of the more common (and successful!) builds for Dirty fighting, those three points in Independent Anarchy will give you a nice 15% bonus to not only Sabotage Charge and AOE attacks, but also to Shrap Bomb DOT Ticks. Once you do make it to 50 and Gear up somewhat, your Cunning will be around 1800 - 2000 (Don't forget to put some points into Streetwise) which will help out with Crit and damage quite a bit, at 43 you're probably just on the cusp of where things start to fall into place with Dirty Fighting. Once your surge and Crit get a little higher you should also feel more effective.
  17. While you should definitely be seeing drops higher than 1/4 of an opponents health (various defensive cooldowns not withstanding, of course) a lot of Dirty fighting does really start to come into play once you get a little closer to 50. It would be interesting to see where you have skill points spent at the moment and exactly what mods you have set-up for the time being. Ideally, once you reach 50 and finetune some of your Character stats somewhat, you should see the internal damage from Woundingshots ticking for up to 2k+ per wave, in addition to the damage being done over time with standard Bleeds.
  18. Great choice, the majority of Chimaera Guilds moved to NML in early access, plenty still around too.
  19. I contacted GZ last night and asked him if he could confirm again (in this thread) if it is or isn't intended that WS uses up charges of HB, hopefully he or someone else at Austin will have a few spare moments to help clarify and we can move on.
  20. /Facepalm I give up, you obviously know far more about Gunslinger and Dirty Fighting than the rest of us, please award yourself +1 internets.
  21. According to Georg Zoeller it's intended, that's good enough for me. Bleeds = Internal by the way, mouse over Shrap bomb and read the discription, specifically..
