tsteenburg Posted May 3 Share Posted May 3 I was thinking that they really should bring back referral codes for two uses. Yes, the old system was rife with abuse and not used the way it was intended. However with the current state of the game, a modified system could be very useful. The biggest change would be completely outside of any cc rewards. It would provide a link between you and the referred account. That way if you convinced someone to try the game, you could transfer some credits and gear to the person without being subject to the new taxes. They could certainly put limits on the transfers like credit cap before tax and maybe just limited to crafted gear so you can outfit your new friend in blue or purple crafted gear to start. The other part would be on the reward for you. Like most other referrals in the world, it would be a 1 time reward, rather than the eternal reward of the old system. While it would need some more coding, they should also limit it to new accounts. Essentially at the account creation screen, you put in the referral code. There also could be a place for people when they subscribe for the first time or resub after at least a year away. The reward wouldn't be huge. It probably would be 500 cc or a month of sub time. This would encourage people to try to bring friends into the game and would allow them to help their friends get off to a good start. This would encourage the new players to stay.
