Launcher not closing, game not starting.

My launcher finishes all updates. My problem is when i click PLAY. The play button goes grey (less colored) but the launcher does not close (does not disappear) and the game does not start. After that. if I click again, anywhere else, the PLAY button becomes bright again and can be again clicked, with the same non results. Any ideas?

I am using Windows 11. Strange enough, I have this problem only on the laptop. I tried to use it in Windows 8 compatibility mode, the result is the same.

Up. I tried all. All Windows 8 compatibility, repair, reinstall the game, all and the same result. The launcher does not close and the game does not start. Any idea?

Also per 7.2.1 patch notes here the minimum specs for the game now includes Windows 10 or later as well.  That may be part of it as well since your on Windows 8.

Some have found they have needed to install directx 9 legacy files https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=35
otherwise try installing C++ via https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe , all else fails install the game via steam
