Dagranorr Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 (edited) Hey Not that long ago I decided to make another character. This time I chose a Trooper Commando. I want to make him a DPS but I don't know which discipline I should choose. Here's my main focus: - Solo story - Solo Flashpoints I don't really care about PVP right now. It would be good if you could tell me about weaknesses and strengths of each discipline. Thanks! Edited May 7, 2019 by Dagranorr
SteveTheCynic Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Gunnery and Assault Specialist are the Commando DPS disciplines, so if you want to be a DPS, don't choose the other one (that's a healer). Both of them have a range of self-heals, the Adrenaline Boost that is a primed "oops, got hurt bad" fast heal-over-time that can out-pace lots of combat situations, and a magnificent Reflect-o-bubble that heals you when it reflects damage. Gunnery is a burst spec with very little in the way of dot effects. It's not *strong* on AoE either. If you know Arsenal on Mercenary, Gunnery is the exact mirror. In the Utilities, above all put priority into getting access to Forced March (top tier) which allows you to use Boltstream while moving. Assault Specialist is a fire-based dot spec, and that's about all I know about it. For solo story content and solo FPs, it really doesn't matter which you take, though.
