Can you pop a screen-shot on a photo sharing site and put a link here, just to confirm what we're talking about? It's probably a "Flair", which you can select in the same menu of the Character ("C") panel where you select titles. There's a basic yellow splotch one if you are a "Legendary" player == if you have completed all eight class stories. There is a series of Roman numerals in a diamond, from I to IV, that shows the current tier of Galactic Command that *this* character is at (well, you can select a lower one if you want). There are many others that are available from the Cartel Market, with various themes. A few are related to the Anniversary events each December.
