It's not just a new server to log in, but another version of the game. The only thing they have in common is the launcher. (This also means you have to redownload most of the game in order to get a working copy of that version) Did you follow Eric's instructions? http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=951144 Log in to the Star Wars: The Old Republic launcher using your username and password.
