Skank tank

Guys what actually is skank tank? It's tank with dps gear (include bonus) or it's tank bonus?

As I understand it, a skank tank is a character in tank spec (Defense Guardian, Immortal Jugg, Kinetic Combat Shadow, etc.) but with DPS-specked gear and a shield.

It's common in PvP because the game balance means that it works better than using tank gear.

Yeah, it's from PvP. Just still don't know dps gear include bonuses or it's some hibrid gear with tank bonuses.

It depends. I run a skank with tank set bonus but high endurance crit/alacrity everywhere else. There are people who run for maximum dps, however. It is my personal opinion that these people are not tanking to its full potential, but its all irrelevant anyway since they're nerfing skanking soon.

Nobody knows what Bioware thinks what a skank tank is. But usually it's tank set bonus, high endurance mods and dps enhnancements. There is a thin line between a min/maxed pvp tank, a dps who'd just like to stay alive long enough to see some dps on the leaderboard, and a skank that abuses the system to gain an imbalanced damage/survivability ratio

What we know is that a tank with the basic tank gear's stat distribution has an insane amount of defense (useful only against white damage), ridiculously low health, and a shield that is overriden by lots of the incoming damage.

So tanks are min/maxing, they replace their silly defense mods with high endurance + power mods, that help a lot with health, and bring some dps from power as a bonus. Even for PVE you want some lethal B mods and less defense.

In this PVP meta crit is king, though, and since crits can't be shielded, shield and absorbtion lose a lot of value, so many tanks also take some crit/alacrity enhancements. Depending on what you plan to do, you may go as far as having no migitation stats at all, and at this point be a tough AOE-dps with two taunts.

Why would you play a tank when you clearly want to play a dps? Because the dps specs of Juggernaut and Powertech are super-squishy glass cannons that spend most of their warzones in respawn.

Depending on how the "skank tank problem" is going to be addressed, these two classes could soon be quite a rare sight in PVP. In an ideal world BW would make tank stats useful in PVP, so tanks want them, and give the dps some actual defenses, so they don't feel the need to dps in tank spec, but those of us who are around for a while just hope they don't break too much for PVE when expelling the heavy armor classes from warzones for refusing to be a squishy waste of stat points.
