rtek
Well i have X4 athlon and nvidia gtx 460, 4gb ddr3, i had only problems in bg never in quest or open world pvp, i turned shader complex to low and now it works like a dream same fps like outside, 60-80 fps. I noticed something -that i can play in the morning without any framerate issue but at night was that problem present. EU server. So i turn that only of in bg-outside i can play with full details at 1680X1050 Edited January 2, 2012 by rtek
rtek
3.0 ghz quad core amd processor nvidia 450gts 4 megs of ram The game runs excellent in highest setting all over the game, shadows on, bloom on, highest resolution. As soon as I join a pvp arena it runs like garbage. Interaction with a large amount of players is when the game just goes to poop. For me the issue is player interaction of large amounts. The game itself runs fantastic minus pvp and heavily populated cities. Yea i have same problems but i change shader complex in pvp to low and it works fine. When i am out from bg i change back to high

acheros
I was having this same problem. I went to a server located closer to where i live. and i went from 150 MS latancy to around 30. Its a HUGE difference, i don't get those random lag spikes, or clunky movement anymore. everything is much more fluid.

Ithink part of the problem is with bioware servers and part is with not very optimized game graphic. But with time they will solve that. silkforcalde
I can run Mumble and this game and have it run just fine, but if I have Firefox open, especially if it has a tab open that is displaying a flash animation, then the game runs very poorly. If you have an older PC like me, do not have a browser open while playing this game!

Just something to look into. The servers aren't optimised at all, so switching to a closer server, which in most games doesn't make much of a difference, makes a huge difference here. ragingnoone
also i logged on today and there was so much lag it took about 4 seconds after hitting the up button for my character move anyone else experienceing these problems. could it be bioware is starting to shut down servers for the patch? BW have been working on performance issues on the servers, but by and large if you're experiencing that kind of lag, look at your video card drivers and/or the card itself. I was running with a GeForce GTX 520 card and found that it wasn't nearly powerful enough to handle SWTOR on *low* settings with the older Intel Core 2 Duo CPU I was running in my system. I swapped out the card to a GTX 550, and the game now runs super smoothly for me at medium settings.

Gilbara
Not sure where to post this, but here goes. The game is too laggy to move/fight. Moving/turning to run in a straight line is impossible. Forget actually fighting... Getting the stories/quests work fine. My graphics are as low as they will go. I played in one of the betas and after reducing my graphics I was able to move around fine. But now that's not even helping. I get 4 bars on the meter, which suggests I should be fine...but not so much. Any suggestions? Thanks. you need a new computer. it's on your end. i have a year old PC that cost $1900. one gtx 460 nvidia card, 12 gigs of ram, and this game runs perfectly. Spamalopean
I just found out that, unlike the other graphic options, there are two choices for Shadows: low and off. I just turned it off, and tried once again to change the resolution to 800X600. It worked, and I now have a FPS of 10-20 (which means I don't run into walls... YAY!) No need for a new computer (or a refund! Haha!) Wow, turning shadows off was exactly my wife's problem. For what it's worth, you made someone's day. Thank you. Grundledeep
I have tried every single work around posted on forums so far. I have tried forcing my settings through catalyst, reinstalling drivers, cleaning the crap outa windows, turning off every single non essential program/service and I even tried deleting the client settings.ini in app data. None of this has had any real impact on my over all problem which is this. When In most open world areas I get like 60-80 fps. I go into the capital or warzones and I get random fps spikes that drop me down to 3-9fps and becomes unplayable. This will instantly fade out and come back in randomly in these zones. I have set settings to max and completely low with everything off and neither changes this fact. I can play any other major title out there atm nearly maxed np yet this game destroys me. also I had 0 problems in beta weekends and I think I have seen better results when less people are on, but this could be my imagination or dumb luck ATI Hd 5770phenom x2 6 core 2.84 gig ramwindows 7 64 not a beast rig but more than capable. BadGrahmmer
Had the same issue today, I was at 3-6fps.heres my rig.Core 2 Duo 87002 2.53Nvidia GTX 260m 1gig6gigs of ramWin 7 I fixed it by simply going to the nvidia site and reinstalling my driver, then i shutdown (to allowinh my windows update to finish and complete installation )And now I'm averaging around 50fps. Hope that helps.
Grundledeep
I've done that and watched it go up before and then nose dive hours later.

onerazorsharp
After reading through many of the discussions in here, as well as the thread from http://www.swtor.com/fr/community/showthread.php?t=171026&page=3, I thought I would contribute. Before all else: System specs - take note of the graphics change i7-950 @ 3.927 ghz 12 Gbs DD3 B4: AMD HD 5870 CF - NOW: AMD HD 7970 120 OCZ Agility III 6gbs SSD - game installed on Samsun Sync Master 1080p 24" widescreen @ 1920x1080 40 meg direct to fiber DSL win 7 64 bit pro That should be really everything you need to know about my system other than the upkeep. I'm old desktop support, now working at the Telco (where I get my internet from too) so my system runs bare bones practically, with simple MSI afterburner running for fan profiles. Here's what I have to say about this FPS issue in SWTOR. With my 5870's I ran fairly good FPS. for the most part I would set all catalyst settings to default and "application specified" - but leaving the game settings on high - cuz I'm a total OCD freak about micro stuttering. I'd get anywhere from 40 to 150 fps in open world settings, 15-35 at the fleet, and 25-55 fps in PVP. I never really care about FPS in the fleet, especially since I play on Darth Bandon or Shadowlands (two highly populated servers), but I felt that this frame rate in pvp was just unacceptable. So I get a wild hair and run to microcenter and buy a Diamond 7970. Now, I know that the 7970 drivers are still under intense development (especially considering that they've released 3 new catalyst drivers since the 6th of this month) but I found that there really wasn't much of a "direct" improvement to this loss of frame rate in PVP. Playing around with all settings, and even OC'in my 7970 to max settings, the only real improvement I see is the quality of detail. I am still running only about 25-55 in PVP. Now, I do severely crush in open world and highly populated areas have improved, but..c'mon..this is the most powerful single GPU consumer card you can buy and I'm running sub-par rates expected of a system 1/2 the power of mine. DrillThrall
What's your monitor's refresh rate setting? Mines is at 60hz, so I modestly don't aspire to a greater FPS than that on my system (a Lenovo Y570 w/hybrid SSD).
Ripperzipper
I am pretty sure my rig has more than enough power to run this game without problem but I would like some other opinions on this as well, here are my specs: Processor: AMD Phenom 9950 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.6GHz GPU: Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti Display Memory: 2785 MB Dedicated Memory: 993 MB Shared Memory: 1791 MB (drivers up to date) RAM: 4 gigs I can run the game fine most of the time on high except I notice an FPS drop in the fleet and when I enter PvP my game starts chugging like a mofo once combat begins, it is mostly acceptable on the void star however huttball gets bad and the turret map is just unplayable sometimes... I am pretty damn sure my computer should be able to handle this stuff fine but...
