Anakin Skywalker & Darth Vader dueling style question

I have always thought that Darth Vader has a completely different style of fighting than Anakin Skywalker did. Vader seems somewhat less flexible when swinging the blade, and relies heavily on Force Choke. Anakin was always very acrobatic, tough, and with a fast paced diverse blade-swinging techniques.

Has anyone else ever thought about that or do you have ideas on why it could be? His suit would have flexibility built in? His age? Could it be a rage thing?

Thoughts? Thanks!

Vaders armor and cybernetic limbs were very poorly made and didn't give him much in terms of flexibility, but they did have enormous strength behind them.

His armor was also very uncomfortable and limited his movements, but at the same time, made him nearly indestructable.

So while he did have a lot of power behind his attacks, he was less flexible as a result of his limb loss, poor cybernetics and armor. It is all on his wiki page.

different "movie making times" and actors

^This.

George, at the time, didn't want fancy fighting and during that time, people thought lots of machine meant move slower.

Look at the updated Robocop. Moves a lot better than the 80's version, because times have changed.

If A New Hope was made today, we would have a much better fight scene in those movies (and one of the reasons I wanted to see them remake the original trilogy when Disney bought SW :p).

The novel 'Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader' by James Luceno and set just after Revenge of the Sith may not be 100% canon any more, but it does a great job on Anakin's transition into Vader and how he has to come to terms with the limitations imposed by his suit. It explains how he has to adapt his style to compensate, how he has to stop feeling sorry for himself and focus on his hatred to turn his weaknesses into strengths, etc. In his first fight in the suit, near the beginning of the book, he gets wounded by "a relatively weak Jedi" but by the end of the book, he's practically unstoppable and really feels like the terrifying juggernaut of a Sith we know and love.
