DawnAskham Posted December 15, 2016 Share Posted December 15, 2016 Cannon has half the cooldown (7 sec versus 15 for in-game item), works on NPCs, and works on event droids. In-game snowball has twice the cooldown, doesn't work on NPCs, and doesn't work on event droids. Clearly the mistake was not putting the cannon in the store to try and milk players with an item that gives them more opportunities to trigger packages and CXP by targeting NPCs, and to do so in half the time. Sending everyone a cannon via mail would be the simplest solution as it could be done without a patch. If we have a patch before the holiday break, the best solution seems to be to fix the snowball. I loved to use it on NPCs outside the event, like showing Kephess the respect he deserves. There was absolutely no need for that change. Yes, players used to throw the snowballs at their companions and clicked it off to farm parcels, but that was in 2013. In 2014 BW expanded the event by introducing the overheated droids, and everyone threw their snowballs at them, because they not only had a higher rate for parcels and gave decorations, but also reset the snowflakes effect when another player threw his snowball at them, so you could farm parcels without having to click off the debuff. In 4.1, after last years event, BW removed the ability to target NPCs (not even in the patch notes), made it impossible to click off the buff, and made it so that you could see the snowflakes on stealthers. They later two changes were undone meanwhile, but the change that breaks the main purpose of the item still exists.
